This no frills hotel was exactly what I wanted: great location, comfortable bed, hot shower, at the right price (under €30 a night with breakfast). Staff were also very kind and shared Iftar with me (the hotel restaurant was closed because of Ramazan). but there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.

The Akgol Hotel has declined greatly since my first visit. It’s sad to see. The breakfast doesn’t have real tea. They give you a small paper cup with hot water and a tea bag. I was there for a week, and the only option was green tea. There is a cafe next to the hotel. It just happens to be owned by the same people as the hotel. The cafe has real tea and a better breakfast, for a moderate fee of course. The hotel smells very bad, like dirty water. The carpet is nasty, and I was afraid to take off my socks.

The carpet is nasty and needs to be replaced. The furniture is old. They don’t serve tea for breakfast. You get a small paper cup with hot water and a tea bag. The entire 6th floor smelled like sewer water.

I stayed two nights ... Excellent breakfast ... Friendly and helpful staff for information, reservations for public transport, restaurants, and tourist information ... Clean and welcoming facility .... Very well managed
