Stayed Friday and Saturday night. Overall, the hotel was good. Decor a little tired in the rooms and hallways. I emailed earlier in the week asking for a quiet room away from the bar area and was told that wasn't a problem. Unfortunately, we were still given a room over the restaurant, which with the music playing was noisy. Also had people dragging tables around in the early hours. The hotel was extremely busy, so finding a place to sit and have a beer was not easy. Breakfast was OK, but hard poached eggs on both days . Would i stay again? Yes, I would, but next time.in the week when it may be a little quieter.

Wow , what a little gem of a hotel , we attended for a work volunteering day in the Peak District national park , followed by an evenings stay with a leadership strategy day the following day . The hotel rooms were unique and quirky , all individually named and designed . Mine was pink and girly with tasteful flamingo theme . The food was absolutely outstanding . Both evening meal and breakfast . We utilised the dragons den meeting room and were catered for over lunch , with smoothies on arrival , biscuits at break time . A beautiful lunch with home made chips and home made scones during the afternoon . The Team could not do enough for us . Beautiful outdoor courtyard , local outdoor lido within a 5 min walk . Perfect for a couples weekend or business . We all agreed an absolute gem of a hotel , we will return and thanks so much for an amazing team effort .

Absolutely amazing place to stay as-well as eat!. Our server was called Katie she was so friendly and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay here. Rooms were immaculate with amazing facilities. Will definitely be back !!

A fabulous property within the Peak District National Park, serving good food & beer, but also easily accessed from Sheffield too. A short drive from the Ladybower Dam for Dambuster fans & the Snake Pass for those who may enjoy the drive to Glossop & back !

We attended The George for a large family event. The staff were friendly and accommodating and took a nice family picture. The food was good, I had the garlic mushrooms which were tasty. The portions are large, particularly the fish and chips.

One of the best experiences we’ve had in terms of food , service and ambience. The George stands head and shoulders above many of its contemporaries. The food served to us was simply delicious , be it Chicken supreme with dauphinois potato and bacon sauce or crispy cauliflower, all culminating with chocolate brownie with banoffee sauce. And we were in the company of a lovely server who kept the smile on her face throughout the service.

The George is an individual and comfortable base for a stay in the northern Peak District. We would happily stay again, excellent rooms; appropriate decor, well maintained, fresh and clean. Very good breakfast choices and dinner menu, helpful staff.

Lovely friendly hotel with very comfortable rooms. Excellent location for walking from the hotel, walking routes in the room . Excellent Sunday lunch good choice and quality. Pizzas were freshly made and great quality and quantity

This hotel is a very beautiful one, set in the picturesque Hathersage with delightful food, drink and staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place! The sister hotel, The Maynard, is also an absolute delight. Thank you to the staff for looking after us at the end of our mini moon!
