I only went to the pub for lunch, but the food and service was absolutely awful! The food was evidently microwaved due to the quick service and some of the potatoes on the plate still being cold inside but mushy! I ordered the pork belly and it was some of the toughest pork I have ever eaten, as well as being burnt, I hate to think how many times it had been reheated. No one there actually cares, no one checked to see if the food was ok. Overall and incredibly horrible experience.

Ben was very friendly, funny, and kind - we had a lovely evening there and were very impressed with Ben. Location is good, atmosphere nice and all staff were friendly. Good service and nice place to visit and have a few drinks - walked kinder scout the next day which is an amazing walk

I brought my auntie for lunch. We hadn't booked as she is 96 and not in the best of health. Ben was wonderful. He treated her beautifully, which made her day, and made me so happy to see her smile. Suggesting a smaller portion was perfect too. Thank you so much ☺️

Staying in Hayfield for a few days and had a meal here on our first night. I’d looked online before we booked but it was a different menu so I asked if I could have the Chicken Caesar salad ( not advertised) . This was absolutely no problem and when in came it was delicious. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and welcoming and a pleasure to be around. The food was tasty and plentiful. Would definitely go back.

Fantastic hotel with access to hayfield and high peaks. We were a. Group of 4 adult men , we left our cars in the car park and got 3 days free parking , karen took our meal orders and everything came piping hot and was excellent quality, Ellie was always attentive giving us drinks and Doug was perfect with the cooking and back of house. Breakfast you give your time a lot the night before for the time you want your hot food on your table .. don’t be tardy !!! . Bedrooms are all modern and recently decorated

I was with a friend for a weekend to get some walks around Kinder Scout. We stayed in separate double rooms, and my room (number six) was incredibly sweet, cute and full of character! During the day could be noisy as a street and garden beer are under a window. The bathroom was clean, and the bed was comfortable with fluffy pillows and a duvet. We needed to book a slot for breakfast a day before. The lady asked us what do we want, and I asked her for a soft version (fresh ortho braces) - not a problem! The morning meal was huge and full of little necessary condiments. Also, the coffee was surprisingly tasty! After the walk, we went downstairs to the restaurant and went for a soup of the day and lasagne verdi (for me, a soft option). In my opinion, portions were too little related to the price. Car park at the rear. The hotel is close to Snake Path, which can easily lead to the Kinder Low and go down via Edale Cross. It was technically a bit difficult in the end, but we agreed this route was the best option considering the views. It took us around 7 hours, but we lost tracks a few times. Definitely recommend this hotel as a base for Kinder Low & Kinder Scout (and maybe Mam Tor) walks. And huge kudos to the extremely friendly lady who served us breakfast while we stayed! Thank you!

We decided to celebrate New Year's Eve by treating ourselves to a delightful meal. The highlight was a real short crust pastry pie accompanied by excellent beer and service. Our evening was enriched by engaging conversations with the locals. Inspired by the experience, we returned on New Year's Day for another slice of joy after a fulfilling walk to Edale, followed by a convenient train journey back.

We were allocated a room here by a wedding organiser. Didn’t realise it was simply a pub with rooms so the place was closed when we arrived late morning. After wedding ceremony went back to check in en route to wedding reception.. We were now very rushed so had to leave quickly, having asked reception to enter our car registration on the system- a requirement of the associated car park, free to residents. . Reception failed to do this so I incurred a parking charge of £100, which the parking company “One parking solution” , a totally uncompromising outfit, refused to cancel, and the George Hotel was unable to assist. A decent place at the very cheap price, great for walkers, but totally unsuitable for us as wedding guests arriving on the day.

Went to this pub for some late lunch as the weather was just awful, and have to say the food was reasonably priced and delicious! We were served by a lovely young lady called Phoebe who made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere of this pub was warm and inviting and so were the staff, will definitely be coming here again!
