Fosshotel Hellnar

Tiny room for such price point. There is no kettle and basic amenities inside the room. Not enough storage area. We can’t barely open our luggages. Not recommended.

This Hotel has the best view ever to the ocean, if you book a room to this side. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious - with good coffee, fresh fruits and different types of skyr (and other things). The hotel is a good starting point to explore Snæfellsness.

When visiting Iceland be prepared to adapt, adapt, adapt, and Eva at the front desk at Fosshotel Helnar made our trip so much easier adding nights to accommodate our constantly changing travel plans due to wind and other weather challenges. She was both courteous and knowledgeable providing good suggestions on where to go and what to see after our foray up to the Westfjords was cancelled. Always ready to help including providing some rags and towels, to clean the car windows which were coated with sea spray from visiting the cliffs and other beautiful vistas in the Snaefellsness Peninsula. And make sure to hike down to Arnastapi while you are here!

We completely enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Hellnar is a beautiful place and the hotel was a perfect complement to the surroundings. We stayed two nights and explored the local area and many of the sights on the peninsula but we wish we would have stayed longer. There is so much to see!

Great time, clean, pleasant, peaceful. The experience was really easy with respect to checking in and managing the room. The location was pretty remote but that was exactly what I was looking for when I booked.

There are no places to dine in the area other than the hotel. They are quite pushy to get you to eat dinner and breakfast there. There are no facilities to prepare your own food which is quite frustrating and shocking because everywhere else we’ve stayed has options. They have signs in the room telling you to not cook or else you’ll be fined. For the price you pay they really need to accommodate all kinds of travellers. You’re not going to be able to stop people from preparing their own food so help accommodate them. I don’t want to spend 7000 on some beef and potatoes. Overall check in was easy. Wish there was easy access from the outside because our room was down stairs and it was difficult to carry luggage down there. Room was a decent size wish it was a little bigger, and bathroom had a heated flood which was nice. Overall found it overpriced for what it was but it was a decent stay.

Beautiful location right on the ocean in Brekkubaer, Iceland. The beds are comfortable and the rooms very clean. The hotel is located near the picturesque Snaefellsjokull National Park,Djupalon Beach, Malarrif, and Arnarstapi Beach. The staff are very helpful, hospitable, polite and energetic! The dinner at the hotel was excellent as we feasted on fresh fish, lamb and beef! Fabulous experience!

A good hotel, if quite a ways from any other location with amenities. You'll want a car for pretty much everything in the region.
