"Utoro is a small town and the Rembrandt sits very centrally — walking distance to the port, the convenience stores, several well-rated restaurants and the Oronko Rock. The service could be better — this is off-season but somehow the room service could not get us the three extra pillows we asked for. The front desk was also not very familiar with booking process for the 5-lake tours, and limited by language proficiency. The rooms need upgrade to allow for more electricity outlets for the many devices people carry these days, and the bathroom / toilet could do with a few hangers or hooks."

"For us it is the second time in this wonderful hotel and every time it is like living a dream: it feels like being in a bubble thanks to all the well-being in which you are immersed. You are pampered by every service present and by the kindness of the staff, which makes you feel at home. The food is simply divine and you would just like to have a more spacious stomach so you could taste more and more. Nature is unsurpassed, every day you find yourself meeting spectacular creatures even just going out a short distance away. You will not find a similar place in all of Japan, where man meets nature in a perfect combination of balance, harmony and deep respect. We hope to be able to return a third time and relive this beautiful dream again. Thank you for everything Kitakobushi Shiretoko Hotel!"

"The room was great, spacious enough with a fantastic sunset view overlooking the entire town of Shiretoko. It offered a different vibe compared to Kitakobushi. The dinner buffet had a rich variety of options; while not as beautifully presented as Kitakobushi, it definitely made up for it in terms of selection, including a unique sweet potato and cheese dish. When my friend had a birthday, the front desk was very prompt in providing cutlery. The onsen was also decent overall. Personally, I'd prefer this place over Kitakobushi."

"The hotel is built on a mountain, and trying to walk around was quite tiring. The room was spacious, but housekeeping doesn't come daily. Currently, all of Japan is embracing eco-friendliness, so most hotels only clean every two nights, and some even every three nights. Those who sign up for tours or activities will be picked up directly at the hotel. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to the Utoro Bus Center. If you miss the shuttle, I believe the hotel can also arrange a drop-off. The buffet was extensive, but eating the same things every day got a bit boring. Personally, I still prefer set meals. I tasted something sour in the chawanmushi. At first, I thought my taste buds were off, but after smelling it, I confirmed it was indeed sour and informed the staff. The public bath has several pools. The open-air hot spring bath is a bit small, but it wasn't crowded."

"It is a large B&B on a hillside. The owner will explain everything about staying here very carefully to the customers. It is very impressive. The whole environment is well organized and well managed. It makes you feel at home. This time I stayed in a new hotel. Floor, there is a faint scent of mats in the spacious room, the dinner is sumptuous, the service in the cafeteria is very good, and the sense of ceremony is full. After dinner, I soaked in the hot springs, which was very comfortable to relieve fatigue. I saw many people traveling on motorcycles staying here There are many high-end motorcycles here, which shows that it is a popular inn. I will choose to stay here next time."

"This is a very dated hotel and could do with refurbishment and sound proofing (we unfortunately had very noisy neighbours). It's a bit far from the main road, so easiest to travel by car or taxi. We had a nice view from our room. There is no daily cleaning but fresh towels are provided in a plastic bag, so I don't quite understand the ”environmental” reasons for not cleaning daily. We had the buffer dinner 1 night and breakfast 2 mornings - adequate but not outstanding. Small room and tiny, crowded bathroom. Overall I felt this was overpriced for the quality of experience."

"The apartment was well located with wonderful views of the ocean & harbour, especially during sunset. Rooms were clean with many amenities in common areas such as complimentary tea/coffee and some sodas. However, do take not that rooms don’t come with on suite bathrooms (only toilet). Showering facilities are all shared (genders are separated), so worth considering for those who mind. Otherwise, it is a really wonderful accommodation, would recommend!"

The hotel staff were very welcoming, and the dinner and breakfast were plentiful. I visited both the private and public hot springs. The private hot springs were very popular; they were almost fully booked by 6 PM. Experiencing an open-air hot spring on a snowy day was quite an experience.

The space is very large. It is more than enough to live in a family. Plus the kitchen can cook by yourself. It is quite cost-effective for this price. I lived quite satisfied two years ago and came back again. There are some changes. The kitchen no longer provides simple seasonings. You need to bring your own.
