If you’re getting married here, do not plan on having breakfast there the next morning. They will not give you reservations for parties above 8, but the kicker is they’ll sit outsiders over wedding guests, and the bride and groom! Crazy after spending several thousand of dollars to get married, the bride can sit and eat breakfast with her family because you can’t hold tables and would rather sit outsiders, like my money isn’t good enough! The Banquet Manager had the balls to yell at my mom about this in their dining room infront of their guests.

Please note a correction to the tripadvisor list of amenities for this hotel: THE IS NO FITNESS CENTER or WORKOUT SPACE available onsite. Comfortable rooms. Snippy front desk staff. Scarce bellman crew; had to schlepp our multiple bags ourselves to and from the third floor at check in and check out. Very capable and responsive daily housekeeping. The bathrooms are significantly underlit by half. Heated bathroom floors are fab ... if you're walking down the dead center of the room. Otherwise, marble floors are tres frosty as the heating elements do not extend to adjacent to the sinks, or the toilet, or the soaking tub.

This boutique hotel is elegantly furnished with excellent staff. The location on the Fox river is wonderful. However, the room amenities are not contemporary; the dim lighting in the room makes for difficult reading, the room lacks desk-level plugins for cyber devices, The Keurig coffee maker resides in an unlit alcove, impossible to read instructions. The room we had had only one lounge chair. The wi-fi is very weak and difficult to initiate. The king size bed has a super soft mattress, although smaller guests will need to use the provided step stool. The tv has limited stations. The bathroom does not have any grab bars, the shower has no bars or non-slip service. The room has a fireplace and whirlpool tub, if you choose to use. The tub would be difficult for seniors. The continental breakfast is a setup with limited options by todays hotel standards. We did not eat at the 5 star highly rated restaurant. The surrounding area has many options for eating and shopping within walking distance. For the price of the room we believe we got a great bargain, compared to national franchises. We would recommend a stay, but seniors may find it a bit trying.

Wonderful boutique hotel and spa. Spacious rooms on the Fox River in Geneva, Illinois. Warm cookies and little bottles if milk are delivered to your room with turndown service nightly. The Herrington Inn was originally an old creamery. Most if not all rooms have a jetted tub and fireplace. Herrington's is within walking distance of many great restaurants and shops. Atwater's restaurant in the hotel has great atmosphere and food. Breakfast was just off the lobby area. A continental offering. There are several very good breakfast restaurants within 2 or 3 blocks of the hotel if you prefer a full breakfast. We've been here before and will definitely be back.

To start, this is a charming, quaint intimate hotel. It's beautiful in an old European way, but... will give my cons later. If you want a great location, beautiful views of the Fox River, old time charm, not too picky about upgrades, this is a great hotel. The Atwater restaurant on site was very good for dinner and breakfast the next morning. The staff was attentive. All staff we encountered was friendly, so they're doing their job. But, if you expect a hotel to keep up with upgrades, even just as minimal as carpeting in the hallways and Lobby, and OUTLETS that don't fall out of the wall. From what I could see there is no usb ports or anything modern for all the technology these days. But, first off you will notice everywhere in the rooms, the hallways and Lobby, it is dark with poor lighting. Sometimes mood lighting and ambience is welcomed, but not the whole time. There is alot of brick and wood inside with dark wall paint throughout. Where there is carpeting, it is old and even a dark green color. My room was very dark and the walls were painted a gold color, and even with ample windows and balconies, the rooms were very dark. The lighting was terrible. The furnishings were wood, ornate, old and worn out, some chairs were stained and the HEAVY draperies were dusty and just old looking. The chairs were so old and dusty I was afraid to sit on them. The windows are filled with cobwebs outside. Yes, it's on the River with beautiful views by the way, but they need to clean the balconies and windows more often. The view out my window was amazing, and the landscaping was very good, but unfortunately it needed a good cleaning. Furnishings throughout the hotel were DARK and dated. As soon as we walked in, you can smell the oldness of the hotel. Yes, it's old and quaint and probably hard to keep a fresh smell, but at least try. Updating the carpeting alone with all the huge drapery would help tremendously with smells. It's such a shame that this was the case, because this hotel has great potential. Big renovations are mandatory for this hotel to keep up it's past reputation and make it easier to swallow the horrendous price they charged for their rooms. My friend also complained about the same things in her room. For what they charge, it's appalling that they don't update. Beware also, even using a credit card, they upcharge your account by about $200 extra dollars for "incidentals", but they say they will remove it later. Usually when you check in and swipe your credit card, they keep it on file for incidentals, etc., but that's usually if you use a Debit card, not a credit card. Some guests we talked with in the restaurant were not pleased with this and they weren't told upon checkin. Whoever owns this property, you need to see your potential and invest some money to make it a great hotel again!

Old world elegance updated for Geneva, Illinois. Our courtyard room (307) was superb, as we had a splendid view of the Fox River from our two balcony doors and balcony. We were greeted by a busboy who carried our luggage down the stairs as he directed us to the check-in front desk. Elevator whisked us up to our room and we were set! The whirlpool spa was delightful-- somewhat tricky getting in and out of-- but it provided a great soaking after our exploring the trail along the river. With arrival of the signature small bottle of milk and cookies in the evening, we enjoyed the airconditioning escape from humidity. The bathroom also had a stand-alone shower, and a bidet in addition to the toilet. There was a corded telephone on the wall next to the toilet. Ceilings were very tall throughout. Dining room opened for dinner at 5pm. We didn't have reservations, but the menu looked intriguing. Breakfast in the lobby was with arm chairs at knee height tables. We enjoyed watching international guests depart down the central "grand" stairway, and listening to their US hosts welcome them and explain why they chose this hotel, because of the comfort and location. As we checked out, the front desk shared that they would be getting some new furniture (chairs) for rooms that day.

One for a getaway with my wife thought the town was great. Great restaurants in walking distance. I thought the hotel was in a great location. Nice walking paths, but spent a lot of money on our room that I thought could’ve been a little cleaner and needed some work. Both the toilet and bidet are loose to the floor. Huge whirlpool tub is nice but you don’t get hot water. It’s just warm. Period ceiling in the bathroom had mold spots. And the deck outside. Definitely needed to be cleaned. There were spiderwebs all over the place which I got because it’s on a river. Outside deck was nice. Just needed some touchup for the painting, I didn’t even want to touch the railing, it just seem like kind of gross and thought I’d get paint chips slivers. Besides that the staff there is great. Very nice and helpful. Just thought for the amount of money you pay for those rooms you shouldn’t be in the shower looking up at mold, or sitting on a toilet And the thing wobbles. Spiderwebs were hard to see in pictures, but trust me they were all over.

This is our third time staying here and they never disappoint. From the early check in to the room upgrade to the chocolate covered strawberries, they go out of their way to make you happy. Everyone I met at the front desk was so polite, helpful and happy. I cannot say enough good things other than we will be back next year

If you’re thinking about quitting here, don’t keep scrolling for another place. My wife and I used to come here on and off for over 15 years. This was the last time you’ll ever be here the quality and the service has gone down to zero stars. Ordered room service for breakfast in the morning spent over $100 did not leave us anything to eat on gentleman just left trays inside the room when we called to address the situation the management was so unprofessional didn’t care just made excuses what he was going to do tenant try to resolve the issue or make us happy, I would give this place zero stars we used to love it but now we will never go back They don’t care about your happiness they just want your money no turn down service no inspection of the room like they used to before you check in the quality is just going to zero also, the room was in horrible shape carpet was dirty paint was chipping off the ceilings, cracks in the ceilings for spending $339 for one evening would rather find a different place in which we will do for the future when we try to address her concerns with the management staff all they gave us was excuses they’ve never heard of this, etc. etc. very unprofessional, we never write reviews because of this gentleman’s lack of action carry goodness and bad attitude made a situation even worse general manager never called to follow up. Nothing don’t spend your money here.
