Moksha at Kitulgala - Rainforest Boutique Hotel

Our experience has been one of the most enjoyable and hospitable from the time we placed our booking. The Management and staff were super professional and made our stay an unforgettable one. The scenic beauty of this property is mind boggling. The food and the service were excellent. Most importantly, the staff has been best we have seen, always serving with a smile and going out of their way to make us feel at home! Beautiful staff and beautiful location. Probably had some of the best food of my whole trip during my stay here and I can’t express how good the food actually was. All food is exclusive to those that are staying at the hotel and it’s above and beyond most restaurant standards. I urge people to venture into their Sri Lankan dinners as I did not have a single meal I didnt enjoy in the whole week. The staff were super accommodating and friendly, helped when needed to be helped and understood all my issues that I had regarding flights. The swimming pool was kept in good condition and was well maintained. Beautiful place to relax. Only things I would say are to be prepared for the odd insect, you are in a forest after all. The only other issue was that unless you come here just to relax, there isn’t a huge amount to do in the local area and the roads around the hotel take a long time to navigate. Other than that, 10/10 experience, have no complaints and was one of the best experiences I’ve had in any country. I hope they keep up the good work In The kitchen as this was definitely a highlight. Also the coconut cake I had? Not sure if that’s what it was but it was absolutely incredible. To me it looked like a carrot cake but either way, best cake I’ve ever had. Thanks!!!!

Very nice Boutique Hotel located in rainforest and by a natural stream. Perfect for anyone looking for a calm and relaxing fight from Europe. Very friendly staff. I got a tour around the properties own garden. They harvested a jackfruit for us which we tried raw and which was also prepared for us as a special meal for dinner. A bit limited options for vegetarians but very eager to find an alternative. Fabulous pool. Smooth pickup service from airport.

A hidden boutique hotel surrounded by a lovely forest and a serene natural pool. We stayed for two nights and my favorite was the natural pool right next to this hotel. Biggest drawback is the price point, so I suggest you go with bread and breakfast. Food and beverages are way bellow average for our liking, prices do not make justice for what we have been served. Maybe we were not one of their targeted crowds but we feel like they should revise their prices or deliver a premium experience to match the price point. Hotel runs environmentally sustainable with only 8 rooms, this gives a perfect space to connect with the tranquil nature. I do recommend the deluxe room# 101 as it was spacious and had a calming view of the forest and the misty mountains. Staff is warm and welcoming, friendly utmost. Overall we enjoyed our stay despite the major drawbacks in food and beverage department. Will visit again sometime later.

We spent two amazing nights at Moksha Luxury Hotel. After 4 months of her traveling we came ( a couple with two grownup sons) to meet our daughter in Sri Lanka. Moksha was the perfect place to start our Sri Lanka trip. It is a delightful lodge placed in the woods of Kithulgala. The hosting ( specifically Hemantha and Dulana) was warm and welcoming the facilities (the rooms, the lovely pool, the food and the natural lake pool) were pampering. We had a piece of quietness to catch up with each other on one side and on the other an exiting experience of white water rafting and canyoning, and a visit to a cinnamon factory close by, with the owners. We will sure be back if we'll return to Sri Lanka.

We stayed for one night as a couple. We are experienced travellers and travel for wildlife photography and in particular birdwatching. The hotel is in convenient distance (20 minutes by car) to Makandawa Forest Reserve which we found to be a very good place for the experienced bird watcher. But even the hotel ground, which is beautifully kept in nature style, proved to be a good spot for birdwatching. Facilities are nice and well kept. Staff went out of their length to make us feel comfortable. Meals by the pool were so special. All dishes were deliciously prepared and dietary needs taken into account. We will be back.

During our stay in Sri Lanka this place is where we had the best food. Chef Pradeep Pereira did an excellent job! He personally took care of the guests there and we could basically order whatever we liked and he besides made great recommendations. Kudos to the chef :)

A simply fantastic location surrounded by lowland jungle and greenery with an exceptional team that go out of their way to make sure you are supported and provided for your every need. Appreciated the welcome walk around and insights into the local foliage. Food was great with the chef's personalised touch each day. Excellent cocktails from a brilliant and friendly team. It was a fantastic place to unwind and reconnect with nature and good value - particularly grateful for the late check out, support with PCR testing and transfer assistance. Can't recommend this place more highly!

Moksha is in a beautiful location surrounded by rainforest and a beautiful river running past where you can swim and enjoy the tranquility. The pool was gorgeous and really peaceful in general. We did a rainforest trek which was good but be sure to wear the leach socks they provide, the guide didn't tell us when to put them on until it was a little late! However, we were really disappointed that on the first evening of our stay at the beginning of our journey through Sri-Lanka, the bar was not open and we had to find staff to get us a couple of drinks pre-dinner. It then transpired there was no white rum so no cocktails - disappointing. We enjoyed our food mostly, although my husband had chicken curry with bones which was not great. There were very few guests staying at Moksha so it lacked any atmosphere and dinner was finished within 45 minutes or so. On the 2nd night we ordered white wine with our meal only to find out the wine we ordered on our previous night had run out and there was only one bottle of much more expensive wine available. We were really disappointed as we were on holiday and wine with a meal especially in a 5* hotel should be a given. So we drank tap water in the empty restaurant and felt super disappointed. The staff were friendly enough. The rooms are very small, the bathroom was tiny. Overall we'd say it was peaceful and a nice place to visit but detail especially meals and drinks were lacking.
