Tailrace Inn

Nice place, looks nice but kind of goes down hill from there really Service was hugely lack in anything resembling a personality. The young male server just placed food anywhere and let it be sorted by us. The guy at the bar wasn't much better. Curry and chilli were swimming and burger bland. Not awful and find for eat and carry on. Such a shame as it has so much potential

Just one of the worst places I've ever stayed at or eaten in, in Scotland. The bed made me think I had permanent spinal damage and the food was either undercooked or fried to a crisp in stale oil, or sometimes both. We were locked out on one occasion as the staff had left at 10pm and we got back at 10.20 and hadn't been given a front door key (the website stated it was open until 11) and the phone number didn't work. And it was -11C. No apology or recognition from the manager. On another occasion, my colleague found he had mold in his room's kettle. Can't recommend, would never stay again. On the plus side,the breakfast was hearty and the breakfast staff (who unfortunately only worked in the mornings) were really nice and could actually cook.

I went here for a meal with my Brother during the day, We waited 20/30 minutes to even see anyone in the bar that worked there and no other people were in there at all. When someone eventually showed up they didn’t greet us nothing and there was no menus shown anywhere nothing we had to google it while sat there. The food did come quick and was hot but the macaroni cheese was watery and disgusting the fish was slimey and tasted almost like it had gone off. Staff were off and cold not friendly at all with us waiting that long to even see someone they could have atleast said hello etc. Very disappointing and would not return or recommend!

Used this place a few times during our stay… food basic pub grub but okay.On our final visit for a drink on the Saturday afternoon for a drink came across a real piece of work masquerading as a barmaid. It’s not often you find rudeness & obnoxious in such quantity in an individual that also chooses to work in the hospitality sector… so if you don’t manage to spot the Loch Ness monster call in here to observe the loch leven one ….. it’s easy to spot. All other members of staff were interested in doing their job fortunately.

The shower room was disgusting full of black damp was terrible. The shole room smelled of damp No wfi did not work the hairdryer had a Pat test sticker from 2018 shocking that they get away either this unsafe and disgusting unhealthy conditions when we pay premium prices

Pub is alright doesn’t have too much atmosphere but still good enough, decent pints on offer or the size of the pub and they are friendly enough staff and always try and sort you a table, the food is definitely disappointed though just microwaved/warmed up food and not cheap either, but the best option in the village

We stayed one night at the Inn as part of the West Highland Way. The inn is very cosy and old-timey with a good atmosphere. The rooms are on the older side, but clean and quiet. We also ate dinner in the restaurant downstair which had excellent food at very fair prices - the cheapest we experienced on the Way, Being an Inn/pub they also had a very good selection of different beers to try. Highly recommended!

So where do I start, coming to kinlochleven while hiking, in hospitality I have managed some of the best restaurants and hotels in the world…some people are not born to work in hospitality and that is “megan”..I’m sorry to mention names but terrible.. In service you welcome everyone, don’t judge. In hospitality the returning guest is the most important fact. We will not return to the tail race. If in kinlochleven, go to the getaway. It’s lovely. I’m sorry but your staff let you down tailrace

Comfortable accommodation, although the room was quite small for three adults and luggage. Good pub food and excellent breakfast! Location is perfect in the centre of town so an easy location to go to when walking the West Highland Way.
