The azure water seamlessly merged with the beach just a few steps away, inviting me to jump in for a swim at any moment – an unparalleled feeling of connection and freedom. Waking up, I enjoyed a plentiful breakfast right at the poolside restaurant. The Pad Thai and freshly made omelets were delicious, and with the pool and sea views right in front of me, the holiday vibes were instantly maximized. While the room itself was a bit minimalistic, this unique 'pool-just-outside-my-window' experience is reason enough to visit again."

"Let's start with the positives: the location and environment are truly excellent, no complaints there. But that's pretty much where it ends. For a hotel that costs 2000 per night, my biggest takeaway is this: it charges luxury hotel prices, but the service doesn't match up at all. The water situation is truly frustrating. I understand that the water quality on a small island isn't always great, and I even brought a filter showerhead. I can accept it turning yellow after two days. However, the bathroom water consistently smells strongly of sewage as soon as you turn it on, and it's not occasional – it's a constant issue. Even the water for washing up has that smell; you start questioning your life choices while showering. The room assignment also felt discriminatory. I had emailed more than a month in advance, and again two days before check-in, to link my booking with my friend's. Yet, they ended up giving us the two furthest rooms, literally at the very end of the corridor. One end room would be understandable, but deliberately giving us two end rooms? The bathroom floor is also very slippery, and there's a small step at the entrance, which is a safety hazard. This is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. As for the service, it's even more subtle. It's not that there aren't staff, but their presence feels off. We asked for an ice bucket several times and it never came. We waited so long for our food order that we wondered if it had been forgotten. At check-out, there were six staff members at the front desk, all busy with their own things, and we just stood there waiting, with no one asking if we needed help. We eventually had to ask ourselves, and only then did they print out a bill for payment on the spot. Regarding the WiFi, it's not non-existent, but it disconnected countless times over four days. After reporting it several times, initially, NO ONE replied! You wouldn't believe it, absolutely no one. Later, I called and got angry, and they sent a very mean female employee who asked, "Does it work now?" with an expression that said, "What can you do to me?" After I complained, the legendary "manager" provided a "VIP WiFi." What does that mean, they don't give good WiFi to begin with? Another overall impression is that their enthusiasm for "paid services" is significantly higher. I tried to book an island hopping tour via email in advance, but upon check-in, they said they couldn't arrange it and then immediately started recommending other dates. The return boat ticket was initially quoted at 2100. For convenience, we said we'd let them book it, but two days later, it became 2500. There was never any formal quotation, just messages typed in an app. We compared it to the walking street nearby, where it was about 2300. The price difference isn't even the main point; it's the uncomfortable experience. Replies to regular requests are extremely slow, but as soon as a paid item is involved, the response speed immediately increases. Overall, if you're just coming to take photos and enjoy the scenery, this place is fine. But if you're looking for a hotel vacation, especially since Koh Lipe itself isn't big and all beaches are public, this price is not worth it for a resort experience. The only thing I want to praise is the guy who's in charge of fruits and juices at breakfast. He has a great attitude and is very diligent. He keeps all the juice combinations timely and accurate, and even brings them to your table. It was one of the few genuinely attentive services we received during our stay."

Mali Resort Sunrise Beach Koh Lipe ★★★★
"The experience wasn't great. The hotel is located at Sunrise Beach, and all the rooms are in this wooden cabin style. The facilities are extremely old. When I first checked in, the floor felt dirty, and the mosquito screens on the doors were broken, leading to a huge number of mosquitoes inside. After staying there for a few days, my body was covered in red rashes from mosquito bites. It's clear that the mosquito control is inadequate, and they don't even provide mosquito coils; you have to buy them yourself. I found it very mediocre and not worth the price. The hotel breakfast was very basic with limited choices. Also, the bathroom was as large as the room, which was a strange design and quite useless without a bathtub. The tap water had a strong odor, and initially, turbid water would come out. I really don't think it's worth the price. It was very poor, and the air conditioning made a lot of noise at night, significantly disturbing my sleep. Overall, it was not good at all, and I won't stay at this hotel again. During my four-night stay, they didn't change the sheets or duvet covers when cleaning, and the toiletries provided were also very poor."

"A great resort with good setup inside, and direct beach access. Room is standard for the island, expect 3-star standard. However the staff members are not very friendly. When I went to ask them questions, they basically questioned me why I do not know where to find things etc. Weird. The staff members at the bar/restaurant area were even rude. Funny though that when several white European guests approach them, they are much more friendly, smiling and asking how their visit has been. When I approached them, they just looked at me with no smile: “what do you want?”"

"The room was a bit dated. I'm not sure if the hotel was fully booked, but we were assigned a pool villa with a sea view that was somewhat obstructed compared to other room types. Our room was in the upper-level area, so the walk to the beach and back was quite long. It was so tiring that we didn't even want to leave the room for a second round! Overall, the experience was a bit disappointing. Fortunately, the room itself was comfortable and clean. My kids had a great time playing in the pool and on the beach. However, the hotel's cliffside restaurant was also a letdown. While the scenery was superb for photos, the food quality was truly mediocre. In particular, the signature lobster was a real miss – it was bland and the shrimp meat was overcooked. The taste was very disappointing, and the price was a bit high, making it not worth recommending. On the positive side, the hotel breakfast was decent, and the in-room dining experience was also very good. How should I put it? These 'influencer-hyped' hotels aren't for long stays; it's fine to experience them once, as long as you manage your expectations for any potential letdowns!"

"Advantages: 1. Sea view right outside the door; beautiful sea view from your bed. 2. This room type has two bedrooms, plus one upstairs, family-friendly. 3. The hotel offers free small boats for boating and snorkeling to nearby islands. 4. Good service; the staff are professional, responsible, and friendly. Disadvantages: 1. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. 2. The shower water and toilet spray water had a foul odor. 3. Many ants in the room, thankfully none on the bed. Overall, a pretty good experience; I would probably come again."

I mainly chose it for the modern decor, good service, and the fact that you can kayak and snorkel every day on Sunrise Beach. The noodles and pancakes for breakfast are also delicious. Cons: The room had a lingering renovation smell, and the tap water wasn't clean; the shower filter turned black after just one use. The whole room felt quite new, but the showerhead was old-fashioned."

"I liked this place, like grandma's in the village. The house looks cheerful, simple inside, but the air conditioning is excellent, the water heater works, the water pressure is good. 2 bottles of water every day. Excellent breakfast, delicious, a lot, appetizingly served! The location is right on the beach, a nice small pool, a view of the ocean at breakfast. Perfectly working Wi-Fi in the cafe area by the pool, calls, files, everything without problems. A good beach is 100 meters to the left, the bottom is sandy, there are fewer boats there."

"The hotel's advantages are its location and good breakfast, complete with a coffee machine. However, the rooms are a bit tired and had a slight musty smell. You could leave the AC on when leaving the bungalow; I never turned mine off, and the musty smell wasn't noticeable afterward. The AC blows directly onto the bed, but there's a handy, tall drying rack. I used to hang my clothes on it and place it between the bed and the AC, so the airflow would hit the rack instead."
