Nippondaira Hotel

9.5/10
Amazing

My first time in Shizuoka Prefecture, and I spent the first night at the Nihondaira Hotel. Walking into the lobby, there's a huge glass curtain wall directly ahead. If the weather is clear and visibility is good, you can see Mount Fuji in the distance. Even every room faces Mount Fuji. At the foot of the mountain are Shimizu City, home of Chibi Maruko-chan, and Miho no Matsubara. When I arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, it was overcast, and Shimizu City wasn't visible due to heavy fog and humidity. I was really hoping for clear skies the next morning. And my wish truly came true! At 5 AM, a thought flashed through my mind, I woke up, pulled open the curtains, and although the sun hadn't risen yet, a blush appeared in the southeast. Looking straight ahead, in the distant sky, a massive silhouette appeared – that was Mount Fuji. Alright, I'm content. Hahahaha~ Staying at this hotel, you can completely, completely relax. You can lie in your room and zone out, or stroll on the huge lawn in front of the hotel, watching the shimmering lights of Shimizu City at night. The booking price included dinner and breakfast. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Dinner was a French set menu (Menu in pic 7). For an additional 1600 yen, I upgraded to Japanese-produced Wagyu beef, which I highly recommend. It was grilled perfectly, locking in the pinkness, and the texture was tender and fresh both inside and out. For breakfast, I recommend choosing the Japanese set meal, as online reviews say the Western breakfast is terrible.

It's a very affordable and decent option for a short stay in Shizuoka. The rooms are spacious enough and it's comfortable to sort out your stuff inside. The staff is nice and helpful, I could even check in at 15 instead of 16, which was pleasant. The facilities and amenities are all quite good. The hotel is conveniently located close to Shizuoka station, so it's not a problem to walk to or from the station even carrying luggage

Although it's on Bar Street, it's very quiet because there aren't many customers there normally; it only gets lively when there's a big game on. While it's close to the tuna restaurant, you have to take a roundabout way to walk there. The facilities are quite basic.

A nice hotel with excellent hotel staff. Hotel room is quite large for Japanese standards. Rooms are clean and quiet. Hotel is about 5 or so minutes walk from the train station. I was able to lug around two large luggages to and from the station and hotel. Not to far of a walk. Would stay with again, but they were fully booked. Oh well, next time i will spend a little longer in Shizuoka.

I stayed at the hotel with my wife as a stop between Nagoya and Atami. We chose the hotel due to its very close proximity to the train station. We found the hotel room very clean and recently renovated. The utilities, including lighting and water supply, were good. The breakfast was acceptable though we needed to queue for a while. The services offered were indeed good since we managed to retrieve some left fruits in the refrigerator through the help of hotel staff after we have checked out.

Breakfast was very satisfying. The specialty Shizuoka oden was varied, and there was also buta. The konjac and mugo were especially delicious. One thing I was disappointed about was that there was no fruit at all. Also, the hotel's room assignment system doesn't take requests into account at all. I requested a room with a nice view in advance, but they had already assigned me a room with a parking lot view on the second floor. They didn't assign it upon arrival; the room number was already written on the check-in form. I stopped by to store my luggage before check-in time, and it was already there. I went before the 3 o'clock check-in time, but it was useless; it was a pre-arranged plan. The female staff member was sarcastic, and her attitude was evident in her expression and tone. She's Japanese, but she speaks Korean fluently. She didn't even realize it, and she kept speaking in Japanese. I've stayed at many hotels in Japan, but this is the first time I've experienced such service. Wow!! Contrary to the hotel photo, there's no sauna in the women's spa! I booked because of the sauna, but I was surprised. It might be helpful to double-check our website. This was my first time staying at the Kuretake Inn chain, but if you don't care about the staff's friendly service and detailed facility information, it's fine. I'm not sure I'll return to the Kuretake Inn chain.

I stayed here for two nights, and the hotel has a very convenient location. It takes about 7 minutes to walk to Shizuoka Station, less than 20 minutes to Sunpujo Park, and around 10 minutes to the Shizuoka Prefectural Office. Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven and Ministop are also just a 5-minute walk away. The hotel has useful facilities, including a coin laundry and an ice maker on the second floor. Breakfast is available, although I didn’t choose the breakfast option when booking. Soundproofing is quite good. I slept well and didn’t hear noise from nearby rooms. Overall, the staff were helpful and professional. Considering the price, I’m very satisfied with my stay and would recommend this hotel. Photos from the window of my room.

The location is extremely convenient, with all essential amenities nearby. It's super close to the station. For any anime/manga fan, this place is a total delight, especially being just a six-minute walk from Surugaya! Absolutely loved it! I'll definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Shizuoka.

It seemed to be the day of a fireworks display and was very popular that day. Check-in was done in one part of the coffee shop. We apologize when it is crowded as the general public also enjoys tea. The rooms have air conditioning, but the beds do not, so it feels very hot and difficult to stay there. There are no towels or toothbrushes. You need to bring your own. Earplugs were available at the washbasin. There is only one shower and one toilet, so you have to be patient when others are using them. I woke up in the middle of the night when someone came home and took a shower because of the noise. You have to cross a big road from the station, so it is better to go out with plenty of time to spare.

Free unlimited alcohol at bar after 6 pm is totally beyond expectation. Room is quite big, with large size bathtub and separated toilet. Very quiet from my experience. The room I stayed does not have a window, not sure if it’s the common case. But I’m ok with that. The location should be considered as the major concern. It’s right beside the interchange of highway, so can be ideal for self-driving trips. However, for travelers by public transportation, you’ll have to use the local bus service, it can take quite a while to figure out how.(For anyone who may read this comment: if you depart from Shizuoka JR station, look for bus No.71 or No.27, and get off at Shizuoka IC stop , which is the closest stop from hotel) Generally I do enjoy the stay, and the nearby region has a lot of restaurants as well as convenient stores, will consider to come back if drive by next time.
