Review of Onna Resort, Okinawa
About me:
I’m a frequent flyer to Japan and a long-time fan of staying at villas and resorts across the country. I enjoy discovering different accommodations across Japan. This time, I chose Onna Resort for a relaxing group trip.
⸻
👍 What I liked:
• Spacious resort– Very roomy and comfortable, easily fits 7–8 people. Perfect for families or groups of friends.
• Clean and well-maintained – The entire resort was spotless and felt well cared for.
• View exactly as shown in photos – Stunning ocean view that matches the listing. Great for enjoying sunrise and sunset.
• Beach nearby – A beach is within walking distance. While it may not be the best in Okinawa, it’s still nice for a stroll or quick swim.
• Washer and dryer setup – Includes both a washer-dryer combo and a separate dryer, which is especially handy for drying towels and clothes after swimming.
• Well-equipped kitchen – Good selection of cookware and appliances for preparing meals.
• Private and quiet surroundings – Peaceful setting with no disturbance from other guests.
⸻
👎 What could be improved:
• Inconsistent check-in information – The email offered early check-in, and a staff member via video call said I could check in at 2pm. But when I arrived, another staff said it was 3pm. This communication gap should be addressed.
• Missing basic items – No cups or glasses were provided, obviously an oversight by the cleaning staff.
• Limited towel supply – Towels are provided strictly based on headcount. Given the proximity to the beach, it would be more convenient to offer a few extra towels without needing to ask.
• Limited Coffee Supply - The resort provides coffee bags based on headcount as well, which was insufficient for guests who consume two or three cups daily. A more generous and considerate coffee supply would enhance the experience.
• Insufficient tableware – Only two large plates were provided. It would be more practical to include additional small dishes, rice bowls, and condiment plates (e.g. for soy sauce or wasabi), especially for guests who plan to cook.
• Lack of basic cooking ingredients – It would be helpful if staple items like cooking oil, salt, and pepper were provided to make meal preparation more convenient.
• No power outlets near beds – Most sockets were located low on the wall and away from sleeping areas, making it inconvenient to charge phones or devices overnight.
• Weak Wi-Fi signal in places – Internet connection was spotty in some areas of the villa, although it offers several wifi spots within the resort, but still weak

ShosangFacilities: The hotel is decent, with a large room, a very spacious balcony, and a huge tatami mat, which is great for families. However, it's not directly on the beachfront; 80% of the sea view is blocked by the BW hotel because this one is across the road from it. The breakfast is very rich and good.
Cleanliness: Very good.
Environment: The seaside environment is nice, but the hotel itself is quite small and doesn't offer many family-friendly activities worth mentioning.
Service: No matter how many days you stay, they only provide 2 bottles of mineral water on the first day. They don't replenish it when the room is serviced later, which I really don't understand.

GhostaloneWe spent 3 nights this time in this 4 star hotel. You won't be disappointed. We had got upgraded to 13th floor. The sea view is spectecular despite the overcast weather. The room is spacious and clearn which same as the photos displayed on the web. The facilities and buffet breakfast is brilliant too. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to relax in Okinawa.

RingbindaThis was our 3rd stay here since the pandemic and it remains the one and only Best Western we ever visit. The hotel consistently offers fantastic value for money, spacious and clean rooms, and an incredible beach view.
What really made this trip stand out, though, was the exceptional service from front desk staff Yuki. When we ran into an issue right after check-in, he resolved it instantly.
Later on, we encountered a stressful situation locally, Yuki really stepped up to help us handle it. He went completely above and beyond his duties to ensure our holiday wasn’t ruined.
It is staff members like Yuki who keep us returning every year. Highly recommended!

The location of our guesthouse was incredibly convenient, situated on a side street of Nago's main street. It offered excellent amenities, with supermarkets nearby for daily necessities and the popular Donmu Ramen – a must-try! Furthermore, the guesthouse was close to nearby attractions, such as the Churaumi Aquarium and Kouri Island, all within a 30-minute drive, a huge plus for planning our itinerary.
Our room type was very comfortable. The first floor had three bedrooms and a separate bathroom/toilet; the second floor featured a living room, an open kitchen, and a family room, also with a separate bathroom/toilet. The guesthouse provided a washing machine and dryer, which was incredibly convenient for us as we needed to do laundry during our trip.
We cooked our own breakfast and dinner in the kitchen, using groceries to prepare simple late-night snacks and breakfasts. We chatted and laughed together, creating a very warm and cozy atmosphere. In the mornings, we could also go for a run along the nearby coastline, breathing in the fresh air and relaxing both body and mind.
We stayed for two nights, and this guesthouse made our entire trip even more enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

Carrie5569The room is spacious, bright, and comfortable, spotlessly clean. The front desk staff are warm and attentive. There's a convenience store right next to the hotel, and plenty of restaurants nearby, making shopping and dining very convenient.

Guest UserThe hotel is a sprawling entity in a fairly remote part of island. Golf courses are located between blocks of rooms so most guests go around in golf carts. The beach is ok for sunbathing but it's not a swimming beach as it's rocky. The swimming pools and beach areas are closed till end of March. Fitness room is open. There's an indoor pool but it's not free for hotel guests. No free parking too. The room is huge and has a good sea view and there is a private whirlpool on the balcony. Breakfast is a delicious mix of western and Japanese food. There are 3 restaurants to choose from.

Guest UserHotel Route Inn Nago was a pleasant surprise! The service was fantastic, really attentive and friendly. While the room wasn’t very big, it was clean and had all the necessary amenities. One of the highlights was the hot spring bath—it was super relaxing and a great way to unwind after a day of exploring. The included breakfast buffet had a wide variety to choose from. Overall, it was a nice stay, and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable and cozy spot in Nago!

easily one of the best stays ever! The hotel is located right beside the sea, literally along the shoreline, and it’s incredibly quiet. You can open the balcony door, let the cool breeze in, and fall asleep to the sound of the waves — genuinely therapeutic and such a rare experience! For a city person, this place feels like a hidden gem.
The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom was clean with good hot water, which was especially appreciated during the autumn season. The only thing was that Wi-Fi seem a bit unstable and took some time to connect.
Breakfast is complimentary and surprisingly good — clean, simple, and tasty, possibly reflecting a typical Okinawan-style breakfast. One of the best parts of the morning was taking a short walk along the beach right after breakfast. Overall, a very pleasant and memorable seaside stay.

I would say it's quite an old hotel but rooms were big. We had a corner room with it's own kitchenette, a sofa area with tv and 2 single beds.
We initially wanted to combine the bed as we have a toddler with us but it wasn't a viable option as the bed frames were built attached to the wall. Room is rather dirty even though we requested for room cleaning, I could feel the floor abit dusty and sticky. The bathroom curtains were also cold and had mould at the bottom (the part that's most often in touch with water).
