The private rooms are all at the front of the building with at least three pubs blaring music out into the street from early-afternoon until 4am. There is no sound-proofing, just single-glazed sash windows and thin curtains. It was so loud that the bed vibrated. Conversation was impossible, let alone sleep, and the volume was so loud I didn't dare open the windows even though the room was stuffy. I've quite happily stayed in city centre hotels before, and am used to grabbing some kip in shared dorms and on trains with a good pair of ear-plugs, but this was impossible. Private rooms are more expensive than a Premier Inn or Travelodge, but come with none of the equivalent facilities such as a kettle or a cup, let alone a good-night sleep guarantee. The hostel also doesn't have traditional facilities for a budget traveller such as a self-catering kitchen. On top of that, the only way to interact with the hostel is via their chatbot. Staff on site can do nothing but apologise, tell you they get a lot of complaints about the noise, and offer you a free cup of tea or earbuds, but beyond that good luck making any kind of complaint. Absolute rip-off, bottom-end facilities for mid-range price. Would not stay with Kabannas under any circumstance ever again.
