This hotel tried to scam me!
I booked on trip.com, which said to pay at the hotel. I booked three days before arriving. On the day of arrival, I received an email saying that my payment was denied, even though I knew that I was supposed to pay at the hotel. At the hotel itself, they told me (near midnight!!) that they had no rooms left, even though I received no information, neither by Email nor through the trip.com app, that my booking was canceled. The booking was still active in the trip.com app.
They initially told me that there were no
rooms of the type I booked left anymore, even though the trip.com app showed that there were three rooms still available. Instead of simply letting me pay for my first booking, they refused taking a payment for it and instructed me to make another booking on trip.com, which I did and immediately paid for in-person. Somehow, they did end up still having a room of the exact same type left.
It was near midnight and I was very exhausted and had no energy to discuss this so I agreed. On my last night, they told me that they would charge me for my first booking, even though they told me that it was invalid and refused payment for it when I arrived. They basically wanted to charge me for a service that I booked and they refused to provide once I arrived.
As for the room itself, it was in the basement, right below the reception, so I could constantly hear steps above me, which disrupted my sleep. The room was unbearably hot when I arrived at midnight, making it impossible to sleep. It took ages for the temperature to go down. The door was built in such a way that light from the hallway was visible from my bed. The shower/bathtub had a small leak which meant that within 2-3 minutes, water would be all over the bathroom floor. All-around an extremely irritating experience.
After they wanted to double-charge me, I had to contact Trip.com customer service at midnight, which took over an hour. They told me that they would cancel the first booking and I won't have to pay for it. This inacceptable behavior from the staff led to me losing an hour of sleep.
