Long Melford Swan

My husband and I have returned from a two night stay at 'The Swan'. We felt all the staff, gave their all. Thank you to Onur, Alice, Megan, Amelia, Poppy, Tom, Callum, Carl, Lily and if I haven't quoted your name and your staff, we thank you. You all give 200% and make 'The Swan' one of the happiest places we have ever stayed. Nothing is too much trouble, its clean, warm, welcoming and just so friendly. Couldn't recommend more. We will definetly come back. Lond Melford is a quintessential Suffolk village and 'The Swan' is definitely the place to stay. Excellent!

To put some context went for a 2 night mid week stay to complete some business locally. The Swan is the classic pub that has turned into an restaurant and has added some quality bedrooms. they have managed to keep a food free bar so if you want just a drink no problem. The restaurant has some special touches particularly the big round table for a group of about 8 and lovely outdoor dining which is perfect when the weather is so nice as it has been during our stay. Overall I think it was great value. As with most places at present you could see how hard the staff were having to work to keep the ship afloat with mass multitasking. The fantastic young lady who showed us to our room was suddenly making us a predinner cocktail and then appearing in the outdoor dinning clearing tables. Unfortunately when we went for breakfast on our first morning the key staff were not on duty and a lovely young lady did her best but basically the kitchen was not open until 9am and it was 8am this we believe had not been explained to us . We had a coffee and some fruit and then went to the local bakery. as we had to leave before 9. The next morning we went down after 9am and we were greeted by Onur what an amazing member of staff he delivered perfect customer service and more. With all the guests nothing was too much trouble and he did not ask you what you wanted but anticipated what you would want incredible. I was going to mention the breakfast confusion on day one but on checkout he had completely restored our confidence in the Swan.

Stayed overnight at The Swan for our wedding anniversary and cannot fault it. Amazing venue, beautiful restaurant and gardens and delicious meal. It was the staff, however, that set The Swan head arms shoulders above other places we have stayed. They were so genuinely friendly, happy and efficient without being over the top. This certainly enhanced our stay and leads to me highly recommending a stay here.

We had an overnight stay after a wedding party on the 15th. The staff were very helpful especially Megan who was still working when we went to our room about 11.30pm and there again at 8.30am with a smile and a lovely greeting. The food and room were great.

Had the most amazing dinner tonight. Garlic and chilli prawns, ox cheek osso bucco and lemon posset - delicious. A special mention to Tammy who was so lovely and, when faced with a very stroppy table who were complaining about the lack of mussels (they’d sold out), remained composed, polite and resolute. Why some people think it is their right to speak to people in such a derogatory way is beyond me. Wonderful menu, ample choice, terrific service - thank you for a lovely evening.

This was a last minute break, and I was impressed with the room and how friendly the staff were, nothing was too much trouble, we stayed in room 6 this was very comfortable , I would definitely recommend

Very friendly and attentive house staff, quick service, relaxed and welcoming. The food in itself was delicious, plentiful and most importantly, fresh. We'll definitely return, although not local, we'd take the time to visit again when in the area.

Very comfortable room & bed. Tasteful decor in room & ensuite. Quaint building with nice garden to sit in.

We wanted B&B for one night in Long Melford and did our research on Trip Advisor. Our research paid off as The Swan was superb. Welcoming, smart premises and clean with friendly staff. As we were there on a Thursday evening we could not resist the steak night offer with wine included. The meal was really good. For breakfast I had the Full English, with locally sourced ingredients. The mushrooms, with the steak and with the breakfast, were delicious - perhaps the best I have ever eaten!
