Walking distance to Lovran and directly across from a pretty beach too. A great value for the money too."

"The staff, especially the lady at reception, are wonderful. She spontaneously offered me a head massage and was warm and charming. Since I wasn't feeling well, I asked if I could leave early, which she readily agreed to. She even offered us the option of staying in the room and the park... However, the owner was firm on this point and quite clearly asked us to check out. I found him rather creepy; he paints in a very peculiar style and has an aura that I, as a very sensitive person, didn't like. And he recommended a restaurant that completely ripped us off: Restaurant Knezgrad in Lovran. The waiter there enthusiastically told us about Ernst Wolff, a dangerous anti-Semite, and we paid 55 euros for a tiny fish. Don't go there!!! The villa itself is beautiful, of course, but the owner's paintings detract from the interior's charm, and we were quite surprised to find the guest's shoes under the chair in front of us. Our room was yellow, and a huge painting, along with truly awful curtains, completely ruined the room's old-world appeal. In conclusion, I'd say: sleep there if you don't mind looking behind the curtains in the basement and under the bed, and if you're not bothered by vibrations... otherwise, we'd advise against it."

Hotel Lovran ★★★

"The hotel is an early 20th century building (I think) with the style of the belle epoch and our room had wonderful high ceilings and tall windows with a balcony overlooking the bay. There was a good sized desk and fridge, but no kettle. Wifi was good and the first time in Croatia we were actually able to connect reliably. There were no plug sockets by the bed which was a minor irritation. Breakfast was wonderful with happy staff and a great selection of food. It was lovely to sit on the terrace while eating and relaxing, a wonderful start to the day. Parking is available at the front of the hotel but needs to be pre-booked."

"Stayed her before and really liked it, especially the lighted walk along the Adriatic. Brought my friend here and it was once again very nice. Very friendly staff who actually remembered me from our stay before. Good rooms, comfy though a bit noisy as the windows face the main street and people seem to have the need to drive along there at 3 in the morning, especially with their mopeds and vespas. Breakfast is one of the best on the trip. Lots of selection and very good cappuccino machine. I had the place all to myself when I went down there in the morning and that was very nice. Lots of good restaurants within easy walking distance and the hotel has a pretty good restaurant also. Two gelato places right across the street. Excellent! Love this area and love to stay here. Only problem is that lots of tour buses seem to stay here and thus if you come to breakfast early in the morning, the place will be packed with those from the tour bus and they are like locust at the buffet. Parking can be a little difficult also. The hotel wasn't all that full and so I was able to find parking there, but it is tricky to get into and if a tour bus is sitting there, then good luck with that. "

"We missed a table were we could eat someting in the room (thats why they want you to book the breakfast option at the restaurant). Looking from afar the breakfast looked small with little variety. Also the heater in the bathroom as well as the fan/dehumidifier weren‘t working. The towels provided by them are small habd towels, not suitable for showering. After talking to them two times we received more towels (same small size). They were unflexible about the reservation. We booked for 5 nights and wanted to leave one night early. They refused to give us the money back for one night. Cleaning is done every 4 days, well thats what the reception said. Overall I don‘t recommend for this price. It could be a plan b palce to stay. There are defenitely better places in croatia to stay."

"We went with the Just You Group. Room was absolutely fine apart from very stained carpets . I had a view over the road but I didn't mind this as it had the evening sun. Bathroom was good, shower worked well. We did have a fire alarm go off twice one night which was scary at 3 am but never heard why. Private beach area not great very small and over crowded, we walked a little to the left and it was a lot nicer. Steps into sea are very slippery with seaweed. Sea is beautiful and clear just the right temp for cooling off. Breakfasts were excellent great coffee , eggs . fruit etc etc. Evening meals were disappointing . Staff were lovely in the restaurant and around the hotel. BUT Robert the barman in reception spoilt our evenings , he was extremely rude to most of our group and we nicknamed him Mr Grumpy. What a shame as most places you go abroad you have a laugh and some banter with the barman this definitely needs to be addressed. All reception staff were helpful and arranged a boat trip for some of our group. Yes it needs upgrading but we enjoyed it, another bonus was free safe."
