Taplow House Hotel & Spa

Lovely place and nice grounds. Clean rooms. Large outdoor spa pool. Very relaxing. Wonderful breakfast. Reception area is a little odd, just a table in the hallway. But otherwise great stay.

We visited early May for a wedding, the staff were very friendly, Wilfred Hannah and Hulya made sure everything ran smoothly. Vincenzo and his team polite and catered to all our requests. Fantastic well kept Gardens in a tranquil peaceful a**osphere. Food was a buffet well prepared and plenty of it. On the whole a very pleasant day. Plan to return and try out the restaurant in the future.

On arrival followed sign to reception, which consisted of one member of staff (we presumed - no uniform or identity badge) bending over a screen on a side table whilst dealing with a phone query. It was sometime before we were acknowledged - not a good first impression. Our ‘deluxe room’ was tiny, the bed barely larger than a single. The wardrobe too narrow to hang clothes in and curtain partially held up with piece of twisted wire. I did ask for a larger room and bed but no joy. We’d booked to eat in the restaurant that evening, as online menu seemed reasonable. However, the actual menu, on the night, bore little resemblance to online one. Waiting staff appeared very inexperienced and unable to offer any information about the dishes on offer. Food did not match the menu descriptions, e.g. I ordered spiced pear and endive salad, I got pears soaked in vinegar with round lettuce; my partner the soup and wholemeal bread, which arrived without said bread; when he asked for some, a few rounds of very inferior white baguette were offered to him. After very uncomfortable night, we arrived for breakfast, no buffet (as described in hotel literature) and very few choices on cooked menu. Again, service very amateurish. Breakfast on 2nd morning - I requested a bacon sandwich, only to be informed ‘it’s not on the menu’! We suggested that I order some bacon and two rounds of untoasted bread and make it myself. Fortunately, a more senior member of staff overheard and, lo and behold, chef made me a bacon sandwich. All in all a very disappointing experience.

I stayed at the Taplow hotel in Maidenhead on the 2/5/24 they requested a £50 deposit for the room and saidI’d get it back within three days of my departure. It is now been three weeks since my stay and I still have not received my deposit back despite calling them three times, and trying to get through to the accounts which are unable to leave a message because their voicemail is full. Today again I spoke with receptionist Who says depending on what card you use determines how long it gets to put back into the account, this was not told to me at the time of booking otherwise I’ll use my credit card. It’s obvious the staff are not the correct information when booking so if anyone is down at the hotel, do not use a MasterCard to pay your deposit as it will take weeks to come back

We had such an incredible stay!! We were so impressed by all the wonderfully helpful and friendly staff, especially Meet who was our waiter at dinner. He was so lovely and made our stay so memorable. The food was great, the spa was lovely, and the gardens were beautiful! Would definitely recommend!

A lovely hotel in a beautiful and historic setting. Booked as a late birthday treat. The terrace is a very pleasant place for a pre dinner drink and dinner itself was excellent. We had an issue with a very uncomfortable bed in our room and spoke to reception about it. The lady on duty was very understanding, empathetic, and immediately moved us to another room for our second night. The staff even moved our belongings while we went out for the day. We were actually upgraded to a suite, for which we were most grateful. I would come again.

We have just returned from a delightful stay at Taplow House and SPA. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The room was nice and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We booked a couples massage trea**ent in the SPA which we found very relaxing. We also enjoy some great meals at the hotel, including Afternoon Tea. Recomendable.

I stayed here for one night and the hotel was immaculate. No area of the hotel was inconsistent with the rest. Having read some of the reviews, I was a little apprehensive, but I would say that customer service was actually exceptional. Attentive staff and lots of smiles. Room was clean and we had a great view over the lawn. Spa jets were powerful and there were plenty of lounging options in the spa area. I can imagine in the summer it would get busy but nevertheless we went on a weekend when it was practically empty. One sauna and nice internal areas too. I feel like the photos available do not do justice to the hotel itself. Dinner and breakfast was hearty and again the service was at a high level. I believe some work has been undertaken to ensure guests are welcomed and looked after. This was evident at dinner with Hulya and Meet, who couldn't do enough for us. We felt like the hotel has placed customer service as a priority. There was also one lady (tall asian) lady who had just started work at the hotel but was really kind to us (sorry cannot recall the name). I normally don't like to stay repeatedly at the same hotel, but I would happily return here again. Hopefully see you soon again :)

My fiancé surprised me with a spa break at tallow house.. but there was a lot to be desired. On arrival staff were attentive and friendly. We stayed in Cliveden which was clean but basic for a 4* hotel. Bed was comfortable but room felt bare with no fridge or mini bar provided. Food was nice and the waiters were very friendly. Especially Meet who made our stay! In my opinion “spa” is a strong word. The spa consists of an outdoor hydro pool that can seat 6, a sauna and trea**ent rooms. Luckily we had a nice day and could enjoy the hydro pool outside. We had a couples massage booked which was a disaster. Firstly there had been a mix up with the rooms so we had to wait until the couples room became available. Staff seem to be agency staff and we’re rude by talking around the corner - completely within earshot and we’re completely incapable of giving a massage. There was no background music and staff failed to ask us any basic health questions or areas we would like to target. It was byeeee far the worst spa experience I’ve ever had. After the spa we wanted to leave immediately. At reaching the front desk there was a woman on the phone who blindly ignored us for 10 minutes whilst we waited and continued to huff as if we were causing her grief. Eventually another member of staff come to help us checkout.
