Holiday to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and renew our vows. A very relaxing and friendly resort.

Komandoo is an adults only resort and is absolutely stunning. We stayed in one of the jacuzzi beach villas, which had a good sized room and shower room. The main room has a wardrobe, dressing table with mirror, chest of drawers, TV, mini fridge, wine cooler, hairdryer, safe and coffee machine. The outside shower room leads to the jacuzzi and day bed. All enclosed so privacy is assured. No need for plug converters as the sockets are compatible with UK plugs. Internet is patchy at best and there is no coverage in the restaurant. The 4 poster bed is very comfortable. The veranda has a table and chairs, and there are 2 sunbeds and parasol on the private beach. Plenty of clean towels provided for the beach and at the infinity pool. The main restaurant is lovely with indoor and outdoor seating. Buffet style dining with plenty of choice everyday. The same with the Kandu bar, which is located next to the pool. The staff are wonderful and provide outstanding service. The island is kept very clean and there's no need for footwear (only by the pool as the decking gets hot during the day). Entertainment is provided at the Kandu bar in the form of a movie night (headphones provided) or a musician. A sunset cruise is included in the stay and is well worth doing. I would NOT recommend the excursion to the turtle sanctuary at Naifaru ($90 each person). The island itself is run down and the first thing you see is piles of rubbish that's used as a makeshift sea defence, and obviously smells awful. The turtle sanctuary is not what you'd expect. The injured turtles are kept in very small tanks. 3 of the 6 turtles we saw had no reasonable chance of rehabilitation and being released back to the sea and have no quality of life. It would appear that the turtles are being exploited for the entertainment of tourists, with their welfare being of low priority. I found it distressing to see the turtles in such a poor environment and left there feeling angry that this is being allowed to happen. It is not a pleasant trip and I would never visit again. I would 100% recommend Komandoo if you're looking for a totally relaxing holiday on a paradise island. Humidity is very high, so if you're precious about your hair and makeup looking perfect, you'll be fighting a losing battle! *** You will need to complete an online immigration form (imuga) no more than 96 hours before arrival and departure. You will need to show a screenshot of the QR code at passport control in Male airport ***

The only island that we have returned to in the Maldives; this place is simply paradise. The service from all the staff is superb, the food this time was even more impressive than before. We had a perfect, relaxing break in the most beautiful place. They even produced a whale off the reef!

We have been to Komandoo before and loved it so much that we chose it to be the setting for our wedding during our most recent visit. We have visited a number of other Islands in The Maldives previously but Komandoo has our heart. From the moment we arrived, the Champions made us feel as if we were part of their family. The Island is pristine and is nothing short of paradise and the food is unbelievable. We particularly enjoyed the food cooked in the outdoor Tandoori oven and the first class cuisine we experienced at the Aqua restaurant. The house reef is abundant with life and I honestly believe that there is no better place in the world to snorkel or dive. Our wedding was idyllic, presented beautifully, impeccably planned and organised and is an experience I will treasure forever. Although all of the Champions made us feel at home, I’d like to personally thank our host, Harshali who worked tirelessly to ensure our stay was perfect in every way possible and to our waiter, Kaleem who greeted us for every meal with a smile, he made us laugh so much and he worked so hard and to such high standards. Despite the Island being fully occupied and preparing for Komandoo’s 25th anniversary, the general manager Navaz, often took time out of his day to chat with us and to ensure our visit was seamless. It is so clear to see the love he has for his staff, the Island and its guests. Not only would we recommend Komandoo to anyone looking to visit The Maldives, we can also safely say that we will %100 be returning in the near future and we cannot wait.

Everything about this place is amazing! The greeting on arrival, the accomodation, the staff, the food and restaurants, the gym and the watersports team. We have been to two other islands in previous years and this one did not disappoint. We had an over-water jacuzzi water villa and it was very spacious and beautifully designed. It was the furthest distance from the restaurant, but it took less than 10 minutes to get there and we had all the time in the world :-) The food in the buffet restaurant was very good and varied, not many repeats like in some other places we have been to. The only "staple" was the cooked and made to order naan breads and they were incredible. The staff looked after the guests well and our waiter Jumaan was so lovely and kind. Our all inclusive package allowed us to go to Aqua, which is the fine dining restaurant, twice and we had 3 course meals there overlooking the sea and it was a very special experience. Each guest is looked after by a "Champion" and Munish looked after us well, regularly checking in on us, although I can't imagine that they would often be told any negative as every detail is so well planned. The gym is quite small, but very well thought out, and the aircon was effective so it didn't give us any excuse not to go and burn off some calories from the delicious food! We went on a snorkelling trip, hosted by Mel, and were shown the best places to go around the island. For the first couple of days we were going to the wrong places and I was worried that the snorkelling wouldn't match what we had seen elsewhere, but I didn't need to worry. One tip is that if you go past the Aqua restaurant and to the end of the boardwalk where the boats come in, and go down the steps there into the water then there are a massive amount of fish under the boardwalk, especially at the end. We went in March and the best time of day to go was between 3:30 and 4pm as the light was at its best. The current can be strong and it is better if you are a stronger swimmer. All of the rooms have life jackets in, which was good for me. The snorkelling trips require the guests to wear fins and full face snorkel masks are not encouraged. We also went on the sunset cruise and saw dolphins, which was lovely. The selection of drinks in the all inclusive package was very good, including a lot of cocktails and mocktails. If you want a spirit that is payable then it was $6. Entertainment was available every evening in the main bar and was varied, to suit all tastes. So for us, we preferred some nights more than others, but that was fine. This is quite a small resort and very quiet, which for us is what the Maldives is all about. It was very friendly and due to there not being lots of guests you did recognise people and were able to say hello and be friendly. It wasn't very dressy in the main restaurant, so don't worry about having to dress up! It is advisable for men to take long trousers if you want to go to the Aqua rest

Stayed 10 days at the Komandoo Island Resort and had a fabulous time, beautiful views with bright turquoise and deep blue sea, white powdery sand and bright sunshine, what more could you ask for. Villa was well appointed with amazing morning sunrise, airconditioned and scrupulously clean. Spent one morning watching the sun come up with two Black Tipped reef sharks swimming just feet away from where I stood in the sea. Stunning. Staff were attentive and friendly, always with a happy smile. Resort is incredibly clean with staff working tirelessly keeping paths and beaches spotless. Food had great variety and choice, well presented and tasty, excellent wines too. Snorkelling was fantastic, reef is teeming incredible variety of brilliant colourful fish and swimming with a Turtle was one the most memorable thing we did during our stay.

Nearest we have ever been to be treated like royalty. The variety of food was amazing, all the staff could not do enough for you. I have stayed i 5 star resorts who do not match Komandoo's level of service. The Bar staff were great to talk too, sorry but cannot remember their names. Leaving was a real wrench.
