Arennas Mancora

Overall our stay was good. The hotel is very relaxing and the location along the beach can’t be beat. Unfortunately I’m not sure Arennas Mancora is worth the value for the high price. The room and amenities were fine—clean, functional—but lacked a “wow” factor of a 5 star resort. Some things I would recommend improvements upon would be blackout curtains for the rooms—my husband and I had just finished the Incan Trail and were hoping to catch up on sleep; unfortunately we were woken by the sunrise every day. Also, the ceviche class was just watching the chef make ceviche—for 180 soles, I could have watched the cooking channel instead. Oh also, the hydro pool is not heated lol The server Alex was amazing though! Very professional, diligent, and sweet.

My husband and I had a fabulous week at the hotel. Despite the travelling to get there as we had to take 2 flights that day, 1hr 30 drive from Talara airport, with the last 15 mins on a dusty bumpy road, it was so worth it! To be honest when we saw all the rubbish around Talara and the road to the hotel, our expectations were not all that high but Arennas did not disappoint. We spent a lot of time looking at reviews for here and the nearby DCO hotel. We missed Kichic which is right beside Arennas. Both of those hotels are lovely, particularly Kichic but we are very happy we chose Arennas. Spending a week here, we knew we’d prefer a bigger pool area and larger hotel in general and this was absolutely the right choice for us. We loved the openness of the place, the views to the sea from our room (beachfront room was well worth it) and being able to get away from poolside when we wanted. We particularly loved the loungers looking out to sea near the pool bar area. What a joy to watch the whales swimming past! Sergio at the bar was fantastic and looked after us so well all week. We didn’t get everyone’s name but all the staff were very pleasant and helpful, particularly Milagros, Juan, Miguel & Carla (at reception). All the housekeeping staff we met were very nice. I also had a lovely relaxing massage to the sounds of the waves. Our room was simply furnished and decorated but lots of space and very clean. AC was very effective and loved the little treats left in our room every night. Lunches and dinners were really good and the grill night was great. Just some points to note: breakfast needs to be improved, all the basics are there but it’s the weakest we had during our time in Peru. Remove pizza and breaded prawns as these weren’t freshly prepared. Robes need to be provided in the rooms. I asked and we were given them but a hotel like this should have them automatically. We easily spent a week at Arennas and loved every minute.

Wonderful experience in a place not traveled by many Americans. The hotel and pool are beautiful and located right on the beach. The sound of the ocean from our patio each day was great. The breakfast each day was very fresh and good and the service at the hotel in general was awesome. A special thanks to Mijael who took pity on our poor Spanish and helped us navigate ordering each day. There are not a lot of activities to do outside of the hotel, but between the great food, awesome drinks (we enjoyed margaritas and daiquiris from the beach bar), nice wines (we explored Argentinian wine) and beautiful setting there isn’t much reason to leave. The hotel has SUP boards available if you want to venture out into the ocean. There were also beautiful bonfires some nights we were here. The views and sound of the ocean from our room really can’t be beat.

The room was fine -easy location room 15 the bed was comfy -the fridge doesn’t work so we just got a bucket of ice and kept some beer cold in it. I have stayed at nicer places but considering where we were this was just fine. Language is a barrier but WiFi good so translating worked. People and staff will go over and above to make your stay nice. Also the food was really good we thought. - as for coffee. I would order cappuccino or espresso’s since I like it a little strong. The beach is nice. Just be careful of rocks if it’s low tide.

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful resort for a week and absolutely enjoyed our time. We booked an ocean view room and it was worth it. The property is very clean and well kept. All the staff were very helpful and made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant menu has a lot of options. The food was delicious and presentation was an A+. I highly recommend staying here if you are in Mancora. If you want a break from the resort life, the small town is only a 15 min ride away. My only area I think needs improvement is the breakfast. For a 5 star hotel, there should be more meat options (not charcuterie board meat). However, not a deal breaker, but have stayed in other 5 star hotels around the world and will always compare it to, for example, the Intercontinental resorts. Overall, a fabulous stay though!

My wife and I loved our time here. We got a room that faced the ocean and had small private pool. It was completely worth it. We got welcome drinks upon arrival and some nice desserts to celebrate our anniversary. The included breakfast had a lot of options and was fantastic compared to most breakfast buffets I’d experienced in the US. The lunch and dinner menus are extensive with several great options and we enjoyed all of our meals there. There were some menu options that weren’t our favorite but most (90%) were great. We took advantage of the happy hour and very much enjoyed the pisco and Maracuyá (passion fruit) sours. The staff was so friendly and great and we had a great time because of them, especially Juan. We also did the ceviche class (which was more like having ceviche prepared for you and a conversation with the chef, instead of like an interactive we all get to make our own ceviche class), my wife got a massage, and we did the private romantic dinner. We enjoyed all of them a lot and would do them again. We loved the room which had a bed that faced the ocean and the bathroom was huge with an indoor and outdoor shower. The beach is beautiful and you could walk along it for hours, or even take a horseback ride. We had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to go back! Thank you all so much for your care and service.

Not 5 stars. The customer service is not up to par with 5 stars and the food was awful so expect to eat other places about 20 mins away. No one tells you that the road getting to the hotel is the bumpiest ride I’ve ever experienced. The beach was my favorite part since it’s private. The rooms (we got the garden view) did not look like the pictures like they were smaller and outdated. Front desk is useless when you have problems and they tried to charge me double for my food. Beach Water is too cold and strong to go in plus lots of rocks but they offer paddle boarding at the hotel. This hotel is pricey for what it is…

They want take your money with extra charges for everything and when you asked them for the extra charge, they said is hotel fee

The property is incredible, just like in the pictures! The staff is extremely polite and professional. We had an unforgettable experience and will definitely be coming back. If you are debating between this hotel and Kichic or DCO, let me tell you that both of these hotels are nothing in comparison to Arennas. This hotel beats them in every respect, from quality of rooms, to quality of staff, location and food. The amount of detail this hotel has to make sure your stay is a good one baffled me. They bring you treats in the afternoon on the house, the cleaning of the rooms is speedy and well done, reception is always available, waiters are helpful and always happy, quality of the property is in amazing shape. They have truly brought hospitality to another level. The food at Arennas was PHENOMENAL. We went to eat at other hotels and restaurants to compare and by far Arennas had the best food. Shoutout to Mauricio, the best waiter. He made every single one of our dinners very special. We can't wait to be back!
