This is an incredible place to stay. The hotel has loads of character and is furnished with care and style standing in its own well kept grounds so it is very quiet and relaxing. The best thing however is the host. Nothing was too much trouble. She gave us maps for the two days we were there with places of interest highlighted which we really enjoyed visiting. It’s worth noting that we wouldn’t have gone to a lot of them had she not pointed them out to us. The food was delicious with home cooked food, kiwi jam from the garden and figs from the garden. Which she picked for us from the tree for breakfast. Would definitely recommend without hesitation. One of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in.

Quietly situated hotel in the Viveiro valley. The hotel offers a tranquil haven and provides a good base for the area. Great ambience, good beds, good food at very reasonable prices and foremost a host that is the embodiment of hospitality! Just enjoyed our stay here tremendously.

Only stayed 1 night on business but what a place. Quiet location but close to Viveiro. Homecooked food depending on what is growing / farmed locally. 500 years old but extended and beuatifully maintained. Full of character. Beautiful gardens. Manageress was brilliant and very friendly. I would thoroughly recomment a stay there not matter how long. I intend to return next year with my wife for a holiday in the area.

This is a 500 year old mansion once owned by the town mayor. Leticia was such a wonderful manager of the property and engaged all of our questions with enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge about the property and surroundings. She went above and beyond in every aspect of our stay. Highly recommend a stay here. Amazing artwork and interior rooms for reading, relaxing, and dining. Everything is prepared on site. We loved our stay.

This is a wonderful pazo - a beautiful, ancient and slightly quirky place, fascinating to explore. The manageress is amazing. She is so friendly, seems to be everywhere at once and yet always has time to chat, explain things and answer questions. We had room 107 which was small, but had a lovely balcony overlooking the garden with a bathroom window overlooking another side of the garden. The pazo is a fabulous place to relax as it is very quiet and peaceful (apart from village dogs barking in the distance through the night). We ate at the pazo both nights - described as “simple food cooked with love” which it certainly was. It was all really tasty and only €20 for a 3 course meal.

Absolutely amazing! Beautiful historic property! Lucia, the inn keeper was fantastic. She gave us a nice tour with history of the property. The food was home cooked and local. Good dinner and breakfast, followed by a dip in the pool! A very regal experience!

We arrived at Santander & are on a motoring tour of Spain & Portugal & found the hotel on the "net" The hotel is simply stunning, not just for it's old world charm but also for its standard of comfort & hospitality. Our host was Leticia, assisted by a wonderful staff with a special call out to Laura on the front desk. The attention to detail is excellent with no item being to much trouble. The food is home cooking at its very best. We were originally just passing through but decided to stay an extra night. Leticia provided detailed information of where to go & what to see in the surrounding Galician area with recommendations for lunchtime Tapas. If you like a hotel that provides tranquility in the hubub of travel, then this is the hotel for you.

A wonderful gem. Extremely characterful old building steeped in history with fantastic furnishings and décor, beautiful gardens and private parking. Lovely pool too but unfortunately it was due to open after our stay. Leticia was so very helpful from the start of our booking and continued to be so before and during our stay providing a small fridge for our room and recommending places to visit. We had a wonderfully spacious quiet 1st floor family room overlooking the garden with decent sized bathroom. We chose to eat in both nights – traditional homely meals with a choice of wine – perfect after a day out. Breakfast consisted of home made or locally produced products and we even had egg and bacon one morning. A perfect place to sit and contemplate the day, relax and unwind. Thank you so much Leticia and your team. We will certainly recommend to friends and family.

We stayed at the Pazo da Trave near Viveiro for 1-night in early June (€93/night). The pazo is beautiful, its 15th century stone buildings set amid lawns beautifully landscaped with rock walls & gardens scattered with interesting sculptures – it even had an old chapel. Our 2nd floor room was spacious, with white walls, dark wood floors & ceiling beams and a shuttered double window opening through meter-thick walls onto the lawn. It was furnished with a king bed & side tables, an old wood armoire, table and huge wooden chair, and a small TV (no safe or mini-refrigerator). The bathroom had a single sink and a reasonable sized bath/shower. The large sitting area on our floor had couches, bookcases, seats, fireplace, large TV – we were the only guests on the floor, so it became our sitting room. All of the common areas were richly decorated with art – a previous owner was a ceramics artist, & the daughter of the current own is a painter. There was a small pool table in the former stable, and a small kidney-shaped pool that was covered, but open at each end so it didn't have the indoor pool stuffiness. We had dinner at the inn – the only other option was to drive into Viveiro – a set menu with very good regional dishes at a reasonable price. Breakfast was also good, with cold cuts, locally sourced baked items, jams made from the many trees on the property, plenty of fruit, coffee & orange juice – no hot food items though. The manager was very personable – one of the nicest we have met in our travels. She toured us through the property, explaining its history, and was very helpful with suggestions for our travel the next day. Overall, the Pazo da Trave has it all – a tremendously a**ospheric & historic inn with comfortable rooms, large and comfortable grounds, good food, great staff, and absolute peace & tranquility – all at a reasonable price. If you are in the area, you are not likely to find a better place to stay.
