Reviews of The Bay

We stayed at The Bay for 5 weeks February/March. Overall experience at this small hotel was excellent. The staff were all charming and happy to help in any way. The food was very good, breakfast in particular with a variety of choices including fresh fruit and eggs cooked to order. Our room was a good size as was the shower room with plenty of shelf space for toiletries etc. Cleaning and towel/linen change was daily and was done to a very good standard. The pool was beatifully tiled, but was probably too small for seious swimming. Fom the terrace it was a few steps down to the beach. The sea was actually a lagoon with a coral reef about 400m. out. Boats could be hired to take you out for snorkelling and seeing the turtles and dolphins. Ideal for families with very safe swimming.

Location great. Atmosphere great. Value not so great - overpriced and very slow service. Waiters not very accommodating at all.

Small hotel with super friendly staff and nice restaurant on the beach. Stayed two weeks in Mauritius. Started with 4 days in the bay and ended our stay here because we absolutely loved the place. Rooms are simple but well equipped and the restaurant has a very good price/quality.

Nice beach hotel, descent value for money even during high season. Friendly and helpful staff. They do an advanced check in, which is very convenient, you don’t need to fill in any papers on arrival. They can also book your excursion upfront. Nice bar with tasty cocktails. But only filter coffee at breakfast. Better coffee for an additional price. A bit weird window in the bathroom, but you can close it. There are several really good restaurants in the village, so you don’t have to eat 3 meal in the hotel all the time.

Wonderful location. All the staff were so friendly. A special shout out to Emilie who handled the local activities. If you can’t stand big hotels and want a local guest house / small hotel vibe, this is just perfect. 100% go with The Bay’s advice on which activity companies to use. They were all fantastic. We did Tamarind falls (you def need a guide and we are experienced trail runners), didn’t do Dolphins but their local Neighbours can take you and I heard from another guest they were fantastic.

We have just returned back to the UK after a great holiday on Mauritius. We jumped a bit, staying in Belle Mare (great beach), Mont Choisy (another great beach) and finally arriving at the Bay for 2 nights. Our plan was to keep the best to last and that certainly was the case. We had eaten here a couple of years ago and loved it so much decided almost 12 months ago to book a room direct with them which is certainly the best way to enjoy the whole experience. We were upgraded to an amazing terrace with sun loungers and top floor view of the sea. The staff were amazing, special mention must go to Emilie who sorts everything from the office. The food was outstanding again, served with a smile and humour. The pool and small beach are immaculate and we are so looking forward to returning soon.

A small cosy boutique hotel on the west coat of Mauritius. The hotel staff were friendly and service minded. It was clean and comfortable. The hotel could have upped the game with a gym.

Friendliness of all the staff, excellent food, gorgeous spacious deluxe room with big balcony & stunning sea views, generous amenities in the room, reasonable rates & a wonderful relaxed ambience made my experience an absolute pleasure! Location is perfect within walking distance to shops, supermarket & other amenities in the heart of Black River. I will definitely be back!

We had an amazing experience at The Bay! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, always interested in our needs and giving us helpful advice. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the overall service was excellent. The hotel is located right on the beach, with stunning sunsets every evening. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all excellent, with fresh and tasty options every day. We also enjoyed the live music evenings and the well-organized trips offered by the hotel. Everything was perfect and made our stay truly memorable. Highly recommended!

Nice, cozy small boutique hotel. I love everything at the hotel. service, view, cleanness is was excellent. Food at the restaurant at the hotell was very good. I really enjoy my stay and will come back again next time. Really recommended this place.

The hotel is wonderful, the rooms are very nice, and all stuff is extremely friendly. The atmosphere of the hotel is elegant, everything is very clean, but also very relaxed, calm and comfortable. The areas at the restaurant, pool, and beach are devided in smaller parts, so you feel very private everywhere. The beach is calm, there are no big hotels and many people nearby. For swimming in the sea you should always use bathing shoes because of the corall-parts, and it is very shallow in the lagune. I can recommend the rooms with sea-view, it's really worth it.

Lovely small hotel, food very good, room comfortable and clean, staff very helpful and organised a fantastic boat trip to swim with dolphins. Only downside was the shower and changing facilities on late check out, were promised shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and comfortable place to change, however it was a shower cubicle by the pool only containing shampoo. Other than that would highly recommend

We spent awasome days in the cosy atmosfere of the hotel the Bay and very tasty kitchen especially in the evening! Thanks to Emilie, Doochika, the owner and all kind staff, who were perfect! We enjoyed the swimming pool even in late evening! The choice for dinner was so vary and well prepared - beef or fish -thanks to Cheff! You are just in 2 steps from the beach and enjoy marvelos sunsets with coctails! I duly reccomend this butique hotel and we will come back again!
