I attended a wedding at Mulranny last weekend and it was an amazing experience. The service was excellent through the two day stay. Bernadette and Caroline at the front desk were particularly helpful and so kind during all weekend. Can't wait to come back!

Stayed in the Hotel for public holiday weekend at the start of Feb. Hotel had just opened after the winter break so I am being considerate of some start up issues ! I also understand the hotel was sold a few years ago so has a very different(more down market) feel tomit now. Firstly there is no bar. The lovely bar at the front of the hotel last time we stayed(10 years ago) is now fully closed and blocked off. It looks like they started some work on it but then stopped. This is a major issue as there is therefore nowhere to sit and rest other than your room. Reception is soulless and doesn't provide any relaxation. A temporary "bar" is setup in the hall or "function room". It is awful and has the feel of a 1970 school hall. A massive industrial blower met us to generate heat. Tables setup like an exam hall. Shocking. People eating in their coats shivering. Would be better off closed We stayed in a refurb'd room on the second floor which was recently decorated and very nice. This was the best part of the stay. Water in the shower was not hot enough on first night but after that was fine. Bed was very comfy. No noise and we slept great on both nights. Breakfast last time we were there was great(10 years ago). Now it's a basic buffet. No fresh cereal just packs of processed cereal. Fruit was limited, melon was nice, rest was tinned stuff. Fry was ok, plentiful but quite creasy. No selection of bread, just basic white or brown "sliced pan'. Small pastries were snapped up by the hoards of tenagers (from the apartments) so there was never enough. When the next batch came out if you weren't on them in 2 minutes they were hoovered up. On the second morning I was ready so dived on them the minute they appeared ! There was one of those automatic pancake mix machines spurting out some glutenous stodge. Thing should be binned. The coffee was not good and if you want a proper Americano or capuchino this costs you extra, which is ridiculous. Our weekend included one dinner in the Nephin restaurant and this was really good. We both love fish and it was great. Service was excellent and portions were very good and lots of well presented veg. Bottle of wine was lovely and reasonably priced. Dessert was good also. We used the pool which had not heated up fully, but was ok. The new suana is only ok as the door doesn't close properly so the heat escapes and a draft comes in. Overall the hotel is now a 3 star and not the same as the old Mulranny. So we paid 4 star prices and got 3 stars. Maybe it was opening issues but they need to up their game, reopen the lounge/bar, close the dance hall and server proper coffee and include it as standard. If you are looking for a nice nearby place to get food and experience a real bar you should go to Nevins Newfield in...lovely and cosy with real fires, great food and atmosphere.

Check in is at 4pm. Once we checked in and went to our room it was freezing. I contacted reception who informed me that the heat would be coming on shortly and the room would heat up then. At 7pm there was no hot water for a bath or shower. By 10pm there was still no hot water. The furniture in the family room had been broken at some point and a poor repair completed on it. The wallpaper was peeling of the wall in 2 spots in the room. All in all its a hotel that is obviously lacking in investment and the staff appear to have no training or interest in customer service. All in all very disappointing.

Called in today for the first time to have a meal in the bistro. Parked in the top car park saw a sign saying Hotel Entrance, however it’s only for residents, so had to get back into the car and drive back down to the lower car park. We made our way to the bistro and sat as close as possible to the window (great view over Clew Bay). However there was a very noisy party sat at the adjacent table so we asked to be moved to the other side. Where there were plenty of tables with great views, but we were told that they were reserved for the restaurant guests. Considering that we had to move to get away from the noise, I thought it was the least the staff could do to make our visit much more enjoyable, (I guess it wasn’t worth the effort to move the table settings?) We ordered fish & chips for 2, one flat white coffee and a Guinness. The lady who took our order then said that she would have to go to the bar to get the coffee! It appeared to say couldn’t you order something else instead, strange thing to say? When the fish & chips arrived the mushy peas were cold and the chips were heavily laden with salt. We asked for the mushy peas to be exchanged for hot ones. When the replacement ones arrived a few minutes later they were over microwaved and very dry, how disappointing. When asked how the meal was (as the plates were cleared) we said that was it necessary to put on so much salt on the chips (not the healthiest thing to do) and we were told it’s the Irish thing to do. I know that we are in Ireland but really!!

He a lovely homely experience last weekend. All the staff were extremely welcoming. The family room with bunk beds was so spacious and the kids loved! Rooms were all decorated fresh and airy and the beds were extremely comfortable The main bar was under a revamp during our visit but this didn’t affect our stay at all Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with lots of options for everyone The hotel is very kid friendly and has a fabulous pool and spa area. We enjoyed a couples sea**** bath session which was so relaxing and a great chance to enjoy some time to ourselves. The views from the hotel are stunning and the access directly to the beach and walkway was lovely to clear the head on Saturday morning!

To celebrate our recent 10th anniversary my partner and myself were looking for a quick getaway close to home to celebrate. We were gifted a voucher for the Mulranny Park Hotel at Christmas so we decided to use the voucher against our stay at the hotel. The hotel done all they could to make out stay as enjoyable as possible. From a free room upgrade to a beautiful selection of desserts in our room as gift for our anniversary. They really down all they could to make our stay an enjoyable one. The hotel at the moment is under going refurbishment meaning not all the normal amenities one would expect are available. Such as a bar lounge area. Yes there was an area off the dining area zoned for bar use but ultimately it wasn't comfortable nor did it feel like a bar. However a very short walk down the village there is a fantastic little bar called Dochertys would highly recommend if staying in Mulranny in the coming weeks. We ate our meal at the hotel which I as a chef would find difficult to criticise. Only complaint I might have is veg portion size. 1 rather small bowl's of beans/ cauliflower mixed & 1 small bowl of mashed potatoes really wasn't enough for 2 people with healthy appetites. Not so much as criticism as it is advice to perhaps take a look at that for future quests. Food was served promptly and was pleasing. Room as I said was upgraded for free by the hotel which was a lovely touch. Beautiful sea view overlooking the bay. I would recommend this hotel for people looking for a quiet relaxing getaway or older couples. As per our visit I would say the age demograph of the quests was older than ourselves. 50-60s and above. Again not a criticism just offering advice to perspective quest's. Hotel was clean warm and welcoming. I'm sure once the current renovations are complete with an actual bar open the hotel will be more suitable to the younger cliental. All in all a good stay suited what we were looking for perfectly.

Currently sitting in reception writing this review as I am checked out and waiting on family who are in the swimming pool. Overall we have had a lovely break but there were a few things i would like to say. This is our second time to stay at this hotel. We stayed here 5 years ago also. We are a family of 9, 2 couples and a family of 4 and 1 solo traveller. As a family of 4 we stayed in one of the apartments which are great for familys. The only issue we had was with the shower in our apartment. We could not adjust the temperature of the water in the shower as the knob was so tight it was impossible and therefore the water was constantly piping hot which is not ideal with 2 kids under 8. I did mention this problem to a staff member before we left the apartment to go sight seeing thinking when we arrived back the issue might have been resolved but unfortunately not. We stayed for a 3night break- a few days before we were due to arrive we were notified by email that the bar was closed for renovation but there was another bar facility in place. This "bar" was a few seats to the side of the restaurant. Not ideal at all and not a "bar vibe", you couldnt sit down and enjoy a glass of wine there in comfort. During the 3 nights the menu stayed the same with the exception of maybe 1 different item which was disappointing especially if you are not a fish eater like me. One morning after breakfast, we were gathering in reception before we went of sight seeing. My 2 kids wanted a glass of water & a mi wadi before we left. The only place i could get this was back in the restaurant area where the make shift bar was. All the staff were gathered there sitting down eating. I felt like i was intruding on their break. No one came over to me so I left but went back in 5minutes later, they were all still sitting there so i called over and asked if i could get a water & Miwadi. It really seemed like an ordeal. They had to look for glasses. As i sit in reception this morning i decided i would like a latte while waiting for the rest of my family to finish in the pool. I went back into the restaurant/bar area to ask for one only to be told the machine had been cleaned & turned off now. I was shocked. We cant have lunch or anything now. I didnt realise that the hotel is closed now until Friday and everything is shut off. This really shocked me. Honestly guests shouldnt have been booked in to stay Sunday night if facilities were not in place for them on Monday. It was a very disappointing end to the stay.

The whole thing from start to finish was only ok There was no hot water for 2 days .. There was only the sauna working in the leisure centre even though they told me that everything was working .. The food portions were tiny for the price that was being charged The veg portion given for 2 people consisted of 8 pieces of carrot and 2 pieces of cauliflour and the size of my chicken portion was about the size of an egg and im not exagerating . I did write to the manager on my return home with all of above concerns and i was given a concession from him that they got it wrong that weekend
