Sonder Las Alas

Clean modern building. Great location. Easy walk to local museums, parks and shopping. Quiet rooms. Cons; still under construction so some amenities not operational yet. Internet went down a lot for days at a time. Charge to clean your room. Studio is pretty small: fine for one but two might be a bit cramped. Once the construction is done and the kinks are worked out should be a decent option.

The Good: it is a brand new hotel. The location is excellent close to everything in Mexico City downtown Reforma / Zona Rosa area. it is very safe at all times, even late at night. View is also great. The bad: No local phone number to call, a lot of extra fees for arriving before 4pm, if you need room cleanup there is a fee. and almost impossible to talk to a human because I believe they use AI chat robots. the local staff is very nice but they only offer limited help, everything has to be asked thru the app.

For the most part we enjoyed our stay at this property, almost everything is as described. Check in was very easy, room was clean, kitchen had all the equipment needed to cook a meal, there was a guard at front door at all times which made me feel safe and communication was prompt and efficient. The area is very popular, there is always police presence for tourists’ protection, there are multiple restaurants within walking distance and therefore there’s always noice outside, we didn’t mind but if you’re looking for quite, this is probably not the place for you. The views and everything else made up for the negatives. For example, the second “bed” was really just a couch and extra blankets and the wifi was down 3 out of the 6 days of our stay, which was really inconvenient for us since we had to get work done on laptops during our vacation. I understand that it was a service provider issue, but the cafe next door had wifi working and based on the reviews this is a common issue, sonder should definitely switch to a more reliable provider to avoid giving guests this inconvenience. Everything else was great.

The open courtyard walkways need more attention sweeping. Also the bedroom floor and one Bed sheet was torn. It was taken care of. Other than that it is a nice play to stay and location good.

This is not the first time Sonder changes my booking due to their mistake adding availability and then closing dates due to delays on property opening. They just moved me to another Sonder building and put me in a floor where they were also doing some renovations in the hall affecting my working hours. No words for their poor WIFI service
