Castle View Bed and Breakfast

Morpeth|0.11km from city center
Returned tonight from a 3 day stay at this delightful place. Unfortunately we were in Morpeth for a funeral, but I can only say this venue made the whole thing a lot easier. Carmen and her husband who run it are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. The building is gorgeous in a quiet location yet close to town. The building has been sypathetically restored to its former victorian splendour if not better than the original. Lovely solid wood floors throughout. The entrance way and stairs are beautifully done and the piece de resistance is the magnificent stained glass window. A work of art. Our room was very large with a suite area and a fridge (hooray a fridge so useful) and a shower room. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The tv was large and wall mounted and you could log in to your own Netflix or Britbox if required. All beautifully appointed and clean. Lots of nice touches you can take different sorts of teas from the breakfast room and nice little biscuits and bars left out. An abundance of coffee and plenty of milk not in those stupid little sachets. Breakfast is superb. Really splendid. The choice is astounding from smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with lovely ''real'' muchrooms not catering and fresh tomatoes, to the biggest cumberland sausages you have ever seen. Lovely bacon, good quality muesli and granola, cereals freshly chopped fruit, good quality greek yogurts and the list is endless. This place is a gem. No complaints at all of any description. If only even 10% of other places could be like this. Well done Castle View you are magnificent.

Three Wheat Heads

We'd seen a couple of negative reviews about this restaurant but we're staying locally so decided to try it anyway, and we are so pleased we did!! We hadn't booked, and on arrival we were told there may be a short delay as they were hosting a large party. We were shown to our table and brought drinks whilst we perused the menu. Our orders were taken quickly and our food arrived about 10 minutes later. My husband started with leek & potato soup (very nice) and for main, liver & bacon (one of his favourites), which was cooked to perfection. I had pan fried salmon which was delicious. We finished with coffee. The staff were great, attentive and friendly and are certainly not deserving of the negative reviews. We had a lovely evening and I would definitely recommend visiting the Three Wheat Heads if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed.

Westfield House Farm

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Eyebright and can’t wait to visit again. We were very impressed with how modern, new and clean the bathroom in the hut was. The small details made packing for our stay easy, such as having tin foil, straws, cafetière, plenty cutlery and glassware, robes, slippers, towels, toiletries, plenty plug sockets and hot water bottle, which other places lack. The bed was so comfy and the little window added to the cute vibe. The hut had lots of natural light which was beautiful in the mornings, as well as twinkly lights at night which looked stunning from the hot tub and fire pit. There were plenty places to sit and the views were amazing, being surrounded by wild life. There were some logs supplied for the hot tub but I would definitely suggest bringing your own as more were needed. The other huts were far enough away from ours to feel totally private and undisturbed. The welcome hamper was delicious for breakfast and hot drinks. I only wish there had been a slightly larger fridge for our food if we had been staying longer and freezer for ice cubes, but we knew this beforehand so it wasn’t an issue. It also would have been lovely for the hot tub to be pre heated for our arrival as it took a couple of hours go warm up however, we had paid for an early check in so used that extra time for that.

Convenient for long stays. The walk around the hotel in the morning was wonderful. The food is very good. The facilities of the hotel were not particularly inconvenient.

A bit disappointing, room next door to the loft and you could hear everyone coming and going. Breakfast was tasty but did not contain all items advertised.
