The Wellwood Arms

"A lovely pub, which I've visited on several occasions. Unfortunately, they saw fit to to appoint Civil Enforcement (CE) to manage their car-park, unbeknownst to me. So when I visited recently, I parked as usual and went in for a non-alcoholic drink. Lo and behold, two weeks later, I received a parking ticket for £100, reduced to £60 if I paid within 14 days, for not registering my number when I went into the pub. Nobody in the pub informed me of the change and that I needed to register. I appealed to CE, providing evidence of my purchase and confirming that I had parked legitimately, but they rejected the appeal. It was my responsibility to read the signage informing me of my responsibility. They did say that they would reduce the fine to £20 if I paid within 14 days. Needless to say, I won't be going there again. "

Bertram's

"Dog friendly cafe in the middle of Warkworth . Last minute stop off and boy we were so glad we did. A bustling little cafe with a gorgeous outdoor courtyard through the back where we sat today as the weather was good. We had a prawn cocktail sandwich, with a side of salad and we shared a portion of skinny fries. All fresh, clean tastes and very good portions. Followed by a Cappuccino and fruit scones. Delicious! Staff friendly, great place to visit. We walked out and said Wow!"

The Sun Hotel

"On the positive side, the hotel is situated in a lovely area and an ideal base for visiting the local attractions. Breakfast is good. The adjoining restaurant does good food and I had the best liver ever! On the negative side, the hotel is dated. The dining room is from nineteen-canteen and the wallpaper needs changing. Our room was small and had steps leading down to the shower room (no bath). The shower was basically unusable due to the water being scalding hot and wouldn’t cool down and the water cut out while in use. I’d also point out that the shower is very small and if you are on the larger side weight wise you probably won’t even fit in! The shower head is the type that is straight above you and cannot be directed. You can do better for the money!"

Fairfield House

"Fairfield deserves its excellent reviews. Mandy is an amazing host, whose attention to detail is remarkable. We stayed in the Mackintosh room, which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It has a lovely view over the fabulous garden. There’s a plentiful supply of hot drink options in the room, plus a Nespresso machine in the downstairs hall, along with homemade shortbread, and a cold cupboard with fresh milk. Wine glasses and a corkscrew are also provided in the room. Good quality towels and nice toiletries completed our positive impression. The sitting and dining rooms are welcoming and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent: fresh juices, fresh fruit salad, and yoghurts; a full English option which was well cooked and properly hot; and plenty of toast and coffee. Warkworth itself is a pretty place, and it’s an easy walk from the guest house. Highly recommended!"

"We stayed here over the bank holiday in August 2024. I visited with my family to attend my cousin's wedding nearby. It was a lovely experience. The rooms were extremely comfortable, quiet and tidy. The beds were made everyday whilst we were out. Each day the breakfast was delicious. I actually had a birthday whilst I was there and Roz (hotel manager) made me a cake, which was delectable. Thank you to Roz and Iain for your hard work, nothing was ever too much trouble and you were so hospitable, we all really enjoyed our stay and would love to return."
