Conrad Nashville

Nashville Broadway Nashville|1.79km from Centennial Park
The Conrad Hotel is in Midtown, on a street which becomes Broadway. It is about a 20 minute walk straight down that street to Downtown, so convenient for anyone who wants to enjoy the nightlife of the area without the bother of driving or taxis. It is newly built, and the rooms are well designed, with lots of cupboard space and a modern bathroom. My room had an L=shaped chaise longue fr relaxing, and a well-lit desk for working. Both at the desk and by the bed, there were ample power sockets and effective free WiFi. Flight cancellations and re-routing meant that I arrived at about 11pm, only to discover that no food was available even on room service, as the kitchen closed at 10.30. Being rather frazzled after a trying day’s travelling, I made something of a fuss. This attracted the attention of the night manager, who sent out for takeaway food for me from a local restaurant, and would not accept payment, either for my food or for the drink that I had with it at the bar when it arrived. When I checked in, I was told that the concierge would be on duty at 10 the following day (Sunday). When I duly turned up at 10 am, wanting to arrange a private city, I learned that the concierge was “taking a couple of days off”. However, again, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. One of the people on the front desk took over, arranged my tour for me, and give me good recommendations for sights to see. Even the door men were friendly and genuinely helpful. So, 5 stars for the amenities and the excellent staff. But why does such a great hotel catering for international travellers shut its kitchens at 10.30: and why does it only have one concierge? That means only 4 stars overall.

JW Marriott Nashville

Downtown Nashville Nashville|2.96km from Centennial Park
Very surprised at level of service even for a Titanium member. Called and spoke to front desk the day before to request early check-in due to business meetings. Informed that request was made. At check-in informed no request was noted. Was informed I could try and find a place in extremely busy and noisy hotel to take video meetings. Overall check-in and check-out procedures disorganized and was informed different information from different people at front desk. Seemed hotel was very disorganized and overwhelmed. At other Marriott, especially JW Marriott properties staff goes above and beyond to make sure Titanium members are receiving a very high level of service. At the JW Marriott your status did not matter, service was disorganized, overwhelmed and could not figure out how to serve their high level members. Very disappointed in the property. Would not recommend for others to stay especially over a weekend. Room for a JW Marriott was horrible!! Furniture was damaged, carpeting was dirty and sticky and walls dirty. Definitely a party room. This had to be one of the worst rooms in the hotel. Provided feedback to front desk and was told ”nothing they could do as the hotel was busy and there was nothing they could do even for Titanium members”; ”also you are in Nashville where all rooms have wear and tear as this is a party city”! Could not believe it; a JW Marriott property telling customers that customers should expect damaged rooms in Nashville since Nashville is a party city! Can't believe a JW Marriott likes that reputation. Sat in bar area for evening drinks each night and every night had to ask at least 4 times for a glass of water! Lastly, the Bourbon and Steak restaurant has amazing views and fantastic food however the service was HORRIBLE. All servers we had were rude, condescending and had an attitude that we were bothering them. We had a party of six and my wife and I had a very late lunch that day. We met our party and we both ordered salads as we were not hungry for a large dinner at 5pm (only time we could get into restaurant which was OK). Waitstaff rolled their eyes when we placed our order and were very condescending toward us for my wife and I not having a large meal. At one point we were asked several times ”are you sure you do not want to order something else?” This was after multiple times explaining we had a very late lunch and could not eat a large dinner. Service ruined a beautiful restaurant.

The location of the hotel is good, you can see Vanderbilt University from the window, and it only takes 5 minutes to walk to Vanderbilt University, including waiting for the red light. The room is clean, comfortable and spacious. It is a suite with a living room. Fully equipped kitchen. The unexpected surprise is that the hotel has a free dinner before 7:00 p.m. The dishes are simple, including salad, cheese, local porridge and fried rolls, etc., but there is free flow of beer and red wine, as well as live performances by singers. It is indeed a city of music hotel. The hotel provides coffee and boiled water for free all day, but there is no free bottled water.

We spent a few days in Nashville for a business meeting. During the conference, we had the best service from Usama. He was more than willing to go above and beyond to ensure everyone was taken care of and comfortable.
