This was my third visit to this Hotel I came in 2017, 2019 and now in 2024. Unfortunately it has lost its previous charm. I think it has been taken over by a Hotel group. It is not horrible, but if you have been before it seems to have lost its mojo. The staff all seem overworked and stressed and not at all happy, they are not unfriendly, just not as friendly as they were. The food has gone seriously down hill, Breakfast was ok I am more than happy with eggs on toast, but the evening meal was not good at all, I am not a fussy eater but every night it was chicken and pork and on a couple of occasions it was just inedible. The service at the bar is not good, you need the patience of a saint, it’s not that the bar staff are slow, there just aren’t enough of them. Entrance to the dining hall is very regimented, you have to show a piece of paper, if you don’t have it you don’t get in, okay rules are rules but in most Hotels after a couple of days the staff recognise you and use their initiative, here perhaps they are not allowed to, treating your customers like school children is not going to make them want to come back. Our room was okay, the bed was clean and reasonably comfortable we were on the ground floor and had a bit of a garden outside which was quite nice although I did have to hunt and dispose of a couple of cockroaches or my wife would never have gone to sleep! The one thing that did upset my Wife was that previously when you went to the dining room for your evening meal, a waiter would come to your table to ask if you wanted a drink and the deliver it to your table, this no longer happens if you want a drink you have to get it yourself from a bar in the corner that did not seem to have a barman. A word of warning! Sound transmits unbelievably well in this hotel, for our last three days we had noisy neighbours, this didn’t bother me too much as I could sleep through a Hurricane but from what my wife told me a triple X rating would not have been high enough. This is not a bad Hotel, it has changed, maybe some of us don’t like change we tend to look back with Rose tinted spectacles. Would I come back?……….I don’t know.

We love this hotel its small but has everything. We are in room 247 which is on the outside so we are not overlooked. Generous balcony which gets the sun early morning then from 2 til 8 pm. Local bus is 1 euro each 1 way. There are plenty of sunbeds so no rush and even though it clearly says you can't reserve a bed the towel planters are still here also there are tables and chairs so something for everyone and plenty of shade. Our only issue is the food is mundane and repetitive, salads the chicken, pork every night, fish sometimes, rice and potatoes. No local type food ,no tapas or spanish style food no paella or tortilla. Also on a morning there is only 1 dish of churros so if you're not there early enough it's gone. So we would like more local type food and definitely churros refilled but that's our only issue. We would recommend this hotel .

In the past we have stayed in this hotel and have had a pleasant stay. Unfortunately not this time. The hotel is being run on a shoestring staff basis. The bar is now a sports bar and on football nights there is only one bar man and a nigh**are to get a drink. The Reception, Lounge dining room has been refurbished but there is no good a**osphere in the place. You even have to get your own drink in the dining room. Before waiter would come to table and get your drink and you would pay before you left. A nice touch. Staff look totally stressed not happy as in the past. We upgraded to a superior room. The only thing that was obvious was the larger balcony. Rooms are very basic. Not enough storage space for anyone staying two weeks or more. The bathroom is very basic. No where to put your toiletries, a small shelf over toilet. Towels very poor quality and need to be bigger. There was no UK tv, according to reception the satellite had been taken down. We went to reception every day but nothing was done. Food was awful, always cold and not much choice. I was sick of chicken at the end of the stay. If you want some luxury this hotel is not for you. Sorry Nerja Club you will not be seeing us again.

Terrible hotel. Rude staff, breakfast is horrid. Stayed 5 nights and 4 of them our key didn’t work so had to go down to reception every time. ‘Upgraded balcony’ room faced a supermarket and couldn’t even have the chair facing outwards it was that small. Genuinely the worse hotel I’ve stayed in.

The hotel was clean and facilities were ok. The food though was disappointing being bland and boring with very little variety from day to day. The location is poor being a 10-15 minute walk up the hill from the beach. There is not much else around the immediate area except for a supermarket.

Agree with many of the poor reviews on here. If you want a 3 star hotel, this is not it, choose elsewhere. Tired, shabby rooms uncomfortable beds and breakfast was the cheapest processed foods I've ever seen, with watered down drinks, brown water for coffee from machines etc. If you are a vegetarian forget it, unless you like eggs and pineapple, give it a miss and go into town. Only plus is there is a kettle and small fridge in the room, (no saucers for cups or cutlery) so bring your own tea, coffee and buy milk from supermarket across the road!

A sad hotel. The accommodation is adequate and the pool patio provides a lovely sun trap. There is a happy hour each day and Neil provides great entertainment twice a week. HOWEVER the hotel as the manager told us is a 3 star and it shows, particularly in the restaurant. Breakfast is exactly the same without variation each day. There is not enough staff so items of food run out and waiting around for replenishments was the norm. The staff are worked extremely hard and are swamped. They don’t have time to engage with guests even with a smile. The hours are kept strictly and I was even prevented from getting a glass of water as the service ended. I understand that dinner is no better. Cleaning staff do a great job.

Unfortunately our stay was marred by extremely noisy neighbours. That aside: The staff are friendly and courteous and appear to work extremely long hours. After a very long wait (cleaning team were behind schedule); Room was clean and spacious with a balcony. View was of the local supermarket. Sheets not changed during our stay (even if we requested the maid service). Extractor fan in bathroom not working. Nice terrace but crowded when weather was nice. Pool unheated and extremely cold. Breakfast was average at best with almost nothing for anyone following a vegan/plant based diet. Tea, coffee, machine reconstituted juice or water available. Dairy milk only. Dinner was boring. Chicken, pork and fish on offer every evening mostly in some form of casserole, with mixed vegetables. Dessert was jelly, or some mousse type option or ice cream (even when it had all defrosted it was still there and wasn’t emptied or removed when I pointed out that the freezer had defrosted). All drinks (including water) had to be purchased from the bar. Haven’t seen any sign of a spa. Good location for beach and town. Good transport links. Very noisy road at all times of day.

All hotel and rooms spotlessly clean we had a balcony with view over looking the mountains. The food was good for a three star a good choice at breakfast and dinner you buy and pay for your drinks from the bar which was good the staff worked very hard.outside area with a lovely pool although a little too cold this time of year.entertainment put on three nights a week which is mainly aimed at older people. The position of the hotel is ideal for the beach which is fifteen minutes walk the cave which well worth visiting are twenty five minutes walk and twenty five minutes walk to the balcony de europa and main town. The bus stop twenty minutes walk away you can get a bus to frigiliana for one euro twenty which is well worth visiting. A good hotel would definitely stay again.
