Beautifully maintained B&B. Historically furnished and decorated, perfect atmosphere for experiencing historic Newport. Very comfortable bed, and wonderful breakfast. Easy walk to the restaurants, shopping and seaside wharfs. Very friendly and hospitable hosts.

We stayed at the Sarah Kendall House for a wedding weekend, It completely exceeded every expectation. This place is a real treat. Located in the cottage district of Newport you already can feel the new england nostlagia before you park. The gardens are gorgeous and the lookout tower is an absolute highlight. The owners were wonderfully generous with their time and took us on a full tour of the house. Every corner has a story, and you can feel the history baked into the walls. The whole place has this calm, carefully considered atmosphere, like someone put real love into every detail. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and genuinely cozy. In the morning Mary made us an excellent breakfast spread: homemade muffins and bagels fresh out of the oven, plus a proper plate of bacon and eggs. Whether you're coming for a wedding, a getaway, or just want somewhere truly special to stay the Sarah Kendall House should be at the top of your list. We can't recommend it highly enough.

We were welcomed by Fran and Brian, the owners, who gave us a tour of the very clean Inn filled with antiques from around the world. Brian shared its history and offered brandy and warm cookies. The Isaac Room was spacious, comfortable and elegant, it had a beautiful king-size bed, oversized bathroom with a large shower, mini-refrigerator and a cozy gas fireplace. The windows overlooked Newport’s harbor and historic streets that are in walking distance of downtown. Mary made a wonderful breakfast in the beautifully decorated dining room that included an abundance of fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, yogurt, with options of French toast, scrambled eggs and the next day, eggs benedict. It was a pleasurable and relaxing experience staying at the Sarah Kendall House.

The house is beautiful, with antiques and plenty of historical charm. Great location off street parking and free street parking. Our room was upgraded by the owner to a huge suite with water views. We watched the sunset from the roof sunroom. Breakfast served had a variety of offers. It was quiet, comfortable, and we really felt relaxed. The little extra touches elevated the experience. Convenient location for our trip. Owners and staff were very pleasant. I will definitely stay here next time alI go to Newport. Good value compared to most hotels in the area for what you get. Highly recommend.

The home was in a beautiful location near the water and walkable to downtown. Our host Bryan was very friendly and the food was great.

We were warmly welcomed by Bryan, the owner, who gave us a brief tour of the Inn, shared its history, and offered brandy and cookies. Our room—the Isaac Room—was spacious and elegant, featuring a plush king bed, oversized bathroom with a large shower, a cozy gas fireplace, and windows overlooking Newport’s charming harbor and historic streets. Breakfast in the beautifully decorated dining room included fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, and a delicious homemade spread with pancakes, eggs, bacon, and French toast. The Inn’s ideal location makes exploring town easy, with downtown just steps away. We’re already looking forward to returning and experiencing their festive Christmas décor.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Sarah Kendall House during our recent road trip through New England. Of all our inns across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, this was our favorite. Our room was charming, clean, comfortable and spacious, and the overall house and garden were warm and welcoming. Bryan, Fran and their team were kind and hospitable, giving us great suggestions for things to do, not just during our stay in Newport but also onto our next location. Breakfast was a full spread of delicious options -- hot, cold, savory and sweet. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Unfortunately this was a less than desirable experience! I booked through 3P website and when I called to confirm they told me they wouldn't honor the reservation. They would not give a reason or aid with alternative arrangements. If I had not called to confirm then I would have never been told and they would have refused me a room. Despite having a confirmation email and paying, don't stay here if you want to stay in Newport!!
