Very cute boutique hotel. Great location. Valet was great. Water bottle filling station was a plus. Front desk not very friendly or helpful. Morning coffee was a disappointment. Try to stay on third floor - l could hear every step of the people above me. Pillows were great. Bed - cheap mattress. Standard room was very tiny - while it could physically sleep 3 people I guess, you couldn’t have any luggage/ bags with you.

Must walk fifty feet outside (in the rain) to get to the restaurant. In a half-empty building, assigned a room across from housekeeping station, with the expectable noise.

Really appreciated the upgrade to a water view room. The room was clean and comfortable and stylish. Hotel staff were attentive, helpful, and friendly. Overall a great stay- we will stay again next time we visit Newport.

This place has a neat vibe to it. Conveniently located so you can walk to so much, it’s historical influenced design fits the pier type setting. The rooms are not big, the bathroom is very small, and there isn’t much storage to the rooms either. There are though nice rooms downstairs that are common spaces but inviting to use to sit by a nice fire in a comfortable lounge area to relax. One restaurant is open later in the day but there are close by breakfast places and coffee places. Coffee is available 25 hours near desk. No coffee in rooms. Valet parking only - it’s managed efficiently and courteously. Great view from room. In summer this would be a place to stay for sure. Still very good now.

The room was not as advertised the bed was sized not queen and very low it felt like we were sleeping on the floor. Very uncomfortable bed. We were not told of the charge for parking until we were checking out. The only redeeming quality of this hotel was the great view other than that this was the worst hotel we have stayed in while visiting Newport

Easy and walkable. Only one elevator. Great valet staff. Front desk check in staff was great and helpful. Our room was near the elevator and common area and it was very very noisy. A group gathered in there until late in the morning. The rooms do not appear to be sound insulated. Both morning we were woken by people waiting for the elevators and the loud voices in the common area. When I went to the desk to ask to move rooms the manager on duty’s first response was, “Well, did you call the desk when it happened?” She never apologized for the disruption. when I asked if it was possible to switch rooms, she never made eye contact and looking at her computer said, fine bring your things down and we will get you another room. We ended up not moving fearing we would be moved to a worse spot.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. It is in such a convenient location. Great for walking around the town and down by the piers. The coffee in the AM was sooo good in the lobby!

No handsoap, tiny rooms, and either super hot or super cold. Also no smart tv which is weird to not have nowadays.
With all that being said, Hammetts was clean and service staff was friendly. Newport is beautiful.

The hotel is beautifully-decorated, especially the lobby areas, and spotlessly clean. The surrounding area is great, walkable to everything, and having the wonderful Giusto restaurant next door is a bonus. We had an issue with lighting in our room which they were unable to fix during our stay but the staff reimbursed our parking as compensation.
Overall, we thought it was a good hotel but some touches would make it great - better pillows, more choice of milks/teas with the morning coffee (and having drinks available all day), fridges in the rooms (though we did get one on request which we appreciated), and instructions on how to adjust the heating in rooms, we could never get the temperature quite right! The rooms were also not very sound-proofed, but no more than average for a hotel.
