Tynrhyd Retreat

We hired this amazing house for my daughter’s Hen Do and we were not disappointed. It exceeded all expectations. All 30 ladies were impressed with the layout, design and cleanliness of the house and the hot tubs were amazing!! We had a grocery shop delivered to the house with no problem at all and there is loads of space to store food & drink and the kitchens are very well equipped. On the Saturday evening we had a three course meal cooked by Dan, who came highly recommended by the house manager, and he was first class! Would definitely recommend him if you want an evening of amazing food. The grounds are incredible with the most beautiful views. A short walk away are the Devils Bridge Falls, a good walk to do if you’ve had a few to many Prosecco!! The house manager, Rebecca, answered any questions/queries quickly and all admin staff have been helpful & efficient. Overall, if you want a chilled time away with beautiful views, you should book this house!

We had an amazing time. So relaxing!! My eight-year-old son said it is one of the best places he has ever been! Thank you, Rebecca for making us all so welcome. We will definitely be back!!! Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

This house offers everything you need for an amazing get together. All the rooms are comfortable and clean. Even with 50 people we were able to relax. The added bonus was Dan Kirkman cheif who Rebecca the house keeper recommended. All on site staff were friendly and available

We are a group of 40 friends, comprising 11 families and ranging in age from 3 to 56. The accommodation was absolutely perfect for us and we wanted for nothing. Every bedroom is a fantastic size, each with an en-suite which are all very modern (some are huge!) Extremely clean throughout and everything in good working order. The Barn is split into 3 separate living areas so plenty of room for our large group, whether we all wanted to be together, or have some time alone. And of course, there’s the central atrium which comes with huge circular tables and lots of dining chairs - a great place for everyone to eat together, with plenty of room at the end for a dance floor! The kitchens were all very well equipped with multiple utensils plus pots, pans, baking trays etc etc Probably one of the best things about the accommodation though is the huge hot-tubs! Hours and hours of fun for all of us! Surrounded by 13 acres of land, the scenery is absolutely stunning! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t entirely on our side so we didn’t make much use of the outdoor space, but there’s loads of seating on a really nice patio area to the rear of the property. Finally, I have to mention Rebecca, the Operations Director who lives on-site. She was there to meet us and give a guided tour, answering any questions we had. She was extremely accommodating with bedroom configurations, phone numbers for taxis, pubs etc and was very responsive to all my emails. Although Rebecca lives on-site, she gives you full privacy and you don’t see her at all (unless you need to of course!) She’s available 24/7, but you’ll probably find (like we did) that there’ll be no cause for contacting her as everything to do with the Barn and the Farmhouse is PERFECT! We’ve already booked to go back next year :-)

Absolutely beautiful location and a fantastic cottage with lots of space for the 10 of us. The cottage had everything we needed and the owners were so welcoming and helped us out when we had an issue with our car, which they really didn’t need to. They were friendly and attentive and it made all the difference. Thank you Gareth for your help when we were there and thank you Rebecca for helping to return items we had accidentally left! Can’t recommend this cottage enough for anyone who wants some peace and quiet and to just relax. PS - the hot tub is the best one we have ever been in!

We booked out the whole of the barn for a surprise 40th birthday celebration for my Wife and had a fantastic time! The rooms were all clean and well maintained, and the main area was fantastic for holding our new year's celebrations! Very picturesque location and not too far to get to Aber for shopping and a walk by the sea. I think the main gripe all weekend was that we could have done with sharper knives for our food prep, which shows that really we had everything we could have needed and more. The house was big and well equipped enough to give people room to go and get away from the main hive of activity in the atrium if they wanted to, have kids doing their own thing in the games room and prep big meals too. Shout out to Gareth and Rebecca who are the owner and Operations Director respectively - they could not have been more helpful. It was important to them from first contact that we had a great experience with them. They organised early access for most of our party to decorate the place for my wife's arrival so we could surprise her with everyone there, and enabled us to check out late too. Nothing was too much trouble - and they weren't even annoyed when we set the fire alarm off when cooking our roast dinner! Safety deposit was returned within 24 hours of the booking too. Thank you!

We had our annual family Chris**as weekend here! 23 of us had a great time ! House was fantastic ! Hot tub was amazing! Staff were lovely. Becky was only a text away and nothing was too much trouble .

We loved our group's fortnight stay at Tynrhyd. The location is amazing, the whole place is lovely and spacious, the beds are comfy and both Gareth and Rebecca were fab to work with - they bent over backwards to help us with everything we requested. As a group with complex needs, they did their best to help make our visit the best possible experience for everyone involved. Looking forward to staying again next year!

We stayed here as part of a group. The setting is wonderful! Beautiful views of the hills and an easy walk to Devils Bridge. Aberystwyth is about 20 min away and easy to drive to. We enjoyed local walks and run. The different houses look very nice. There is a lot of space with interconnected buildings and that worked well for our group spread across the different houses. The kids loved the outdoor areas to play. The games room was also great to have on wet days. The central atrium was really great to have when we all got together to celebrate an occasion. The hot tubs were also very nice to have, and they are huge! Also so useful to have EV charging. That’s a good touch. My general impression of the place is that it is a bit tired probably from too many large groups visiting and not enough time to keep up with the maintenance when needed. There were things broken or not working properly like a washing machine and dishwasher. This was inconvenient. Some rooms need an urgent refresh with some very obvious patching of the wall plaster work. And the place could have been cleaner. The main areas were done but if furniture was moved it was dirty underneath or behind. We also found that the houses did not have an inventory of kitchen items and everything was mixed up. It meant we were often hunting for glasses or plates or knives. You get the idea. Having a well stocked kitchen with an inventory would be the biggest single difference that could be made here to make guests lives easier. Generally the place met our needs and we had a good week but I don’t think it was great value in its current form. But it could be improved given a little inves**ent of time and money. Then I think it could reach its potential.
