Cale Guest House Reviews

We loved everything about our stay at Cale Guest House. The staff are excellent and our room was spotless and had a lovely view. . There is no lift due to the historical nature of the property but the staff carried our cases up the stairs both on arrival and departure. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

We were greeted in a friendly manner by Vania who offered us a welcome drink and help in planning activities if required. She showed us to our room and made sure we knew all relevant information. The room was large with a great city view. The bed was comfortable and there was an aircon unit, water and biscuits. The bathroom was medium size and everything worked well. It was clean and bright with three large windows. Breakfast is served downstairs between 8 and 10am, there is a range of food to choose from including croissants, rolls, pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereals, cheese, cold meats and fresh orange juice, coffee and tea. We had a very early tour one morning and the staff made sure we could have coffee before we left.

Hard to find entrance. Lobby and breakfast area one and the same. Staff lugged our suitcases up 6 flights of stairs. Insist on staff doing the same for you. Staff spoke english and helpful. Included breakfast was Continental at best. Room spacious and bath towels were bath sheets, nice!

We had a wonderful stay at the Cale Guest House. The room was lovely and big and also very light. We had a small balcony at the front of the building. The staff were fantastic , all very friendly and helpful. They did a great job with the breakfast which was very good. I could not imagine staying anywhere else in Porto.

Wow this place is just wonderful! Right in the centre of the city, it has wonderful views and is great to stroll around. Diogo on reception was incredibly helpful - talking us through the city’s sights over a glass of port. The children loved the complimentary cookies and our room is great - big, clean and well furnished. We are over the moon with our choice of stay - thank you!

we were warmly greeted by diogo at the cale guest house, and could enjoy some small treats prior to settling in. unfortunately we were back too late from touring to take up the offer of a glass of port 😥🍷 the rooms are clean and very spacious, with a nice view from the sitting room of the shops towards the river. we didn’t need to use the air conditioning, as the windows provided plenty of cool air in the evening. the curtains separating the sitting and bedroom were enough to block the street noise. breakfast was both generous and very nicely prepared. it’s a pity we couldn’t stay longer, both to enjoy the hotel and amenities plus Porto itself. would definitely stay here again!

From the moment we walked in the door to the moment we checked out the service was superior. We would definitely recommend staying, the location is perfectly located to all amenities. Our stay in Cale Guest House was incredible from start to finish. We were greeted by the most lovely female receptionist on arrival who was more than happy to answer our questions about Porto. We were given a complimentary glass of port on arrival and there was a counter of snacks that one could eat as they please. The room was so clean and the bed was really comfortable. A stunning breakfast too. Most importantly the location was amazing - close to everything!! Thank you so much for an amazing stay.

My friends and I stayed in several hotels during our 15 day Europe trip and Cale Guest House provided us with the best service of all. Special mention to Vania at the front desk who made our stay very comfortable. The rooms were spacious and well appointed and the free snacks throughout the day were much appreciated. When coming to Porto we highly recommend that you book here!

What a smashing little hotel. Only 7 rooms, but that was perfect. Breakfast was beautifully laid out each morning and tended to constantly. Staff were really friendly and gave us a welcome drink of port. They allowed us to drop off our bags early (before we could check in) and then kept them for us at the end of the stay too. Location of the hotel is fantastic too as you're smack bang in the centre of things. Would definitely recommend this place to others wishing to visit this beautiful city.

The place is not close to the main areas, but it’s not bad with an Uber ride. There is no sign, but easily recognized due to it’s red brick exterior. Staff were AMAZING and helpful and the area out back was nice to sit in with a glass of local wine. The basic room is VERY small with no chairs. The bathroom is beautiful, but the shower is not functional due to its small size. You literally can’t wash yourself without opening the glass door. I understand that we paid for a basic room, but with the price, I would have expected something bigger. There is also no coffee pot or water in the room. The room has a small fridge that has water and a few drinks for 2 euros each. Overall, it’s a beautiful property and the staff are an asset.

Nice little place in central Porto. Location is very central. 5 min valk to the Ribeira and the Cathedral. Its a small hotel and very intimate. God breakfeast. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. You can g’et a camino stamp here

Wow! This place is an absolute gem. I could gush on and on, but I’ll just say that our expectations were blown out of the water. Vania and the entire team were stupendous and ensured our stay was memorable. Vania, in particular, provided the warmest welcome we could have imagined!!Thank you, Cale Guest House!!

Lovely place to stay and a great location in Porto. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We only had one minor issue with our A/C unit but it was quickly dealt with by the front desk staff. Would highly recommend.
