We recently spent 3 nights at the Splendido Mare and we went in with pretty high expectations given the hotel's reputation. I'm delighted to say that the Splendido delivers on everything they say. The staff are exceptional, from the first minute when a porter greeted our car/driver in the parking area (where cars have to stop in Portofino). The welcome by the manager, the attention to detail, the room (a junior suite with sea view, including a large private patio), the housekeeping of the room, the Acqua di Parma toiletries -- all amazing. Breakfast is fully served at your table by the most charming and helpful waiters; everything is available and at your service. Two full days and three nights in Portofino was perfect for us (one day on a boat, one day to walk up the Castle and poke around the village) and the Splendido made us feel like we had a front row seat on the Riviera. (We can't imagine what Portofino is like when the summer crowds really arrive; it was busy enough for us in early May, but the Splendido would be an amazing oasis even in the busy season.)

Unprofessional staffs and miscommunication led to unpleasant stay. As a guest of Belmond SplendidoMare, my seat was reserved at Terrazza Dior. But without any explanation or apology, they’ve put me in a different seat that is not for the guests of Splendido Mare. I was able to use the Dior Terrace after making complaints about discrimination.

The Splendido Mare is an outstanding hotel. We had 2 nights for our 20th wedding anniversary and although it is an expensive option it is worth every cent. The staff could not do enough for us - never in an overbearing way but they were spectacularly attentive and friendly. Portofino itself is a beautiful harbour - although be warned, everything is very expensive and a glass of wine can cost up to 30 euros - but for a special occasion there is nowhere like it and if you are doing it properly then the Splendido Mare is the place to be.

Great location. Beautiful terrace restaurant with good service. But rooms are just so-so and concierge completely useless. Even with advanced notice and detailed ask for help, the concierge couldn't get anything done.

For an immensely special Spring break on the Italian Riviera, look no further ! Michela Nicosia leads an exceptional team who are 100% focussed on delivering the very best in Belmond hospitality and she should be congratulated for this. Our visit coincided with St George`s Day and the celebratory bonfire in the Piazzetta - this was another highlight of our time in Portofino No doubt, we will return again very soon

A hotel that is run masterfully, the location, the amazing staff run by a passionate manager, the quality of the food and service, the attention to detail and comfort in the rooms all make for a unique experience. We went in December 2023 and it was enjoyable to discover and experience Portofino in the Winter season, no crowds, a good temperature for walking and of course the hotel experience.

Even in winter, is definitely a magic location, the christmas atmosphere in Portofino is simply amazing! My room had a fantastic sea view, facing direct to Portofino bay, the housekeeping was spotless, thank you very much to Lilly and Federica! Concerning the restaurant, the dinner at Dav was a lifetime experience, the service was espectacular, the guys they really go further the expectations, everything was delicious, the paccheri definitely a must!! Special thanks for the great evening to all the staff in particular to Walter the Waiter, Walter the somellier, Umberto, Simone, the Maitre Fabio and the Hostess Chiara!!! you really rock guys! Brekfast was one of the best I ever had in a luxury hotel, and the team was also super there! Fantastc drink also at the bar! The welcome was also so warm at the reception, NIcola, Chiara, Pablo and the Gm Michela, are so energic and positive. Many congrats to everybody guys, keep it up! Looking forward to come back
