Beautiful hotel absolutely stunning scenery! The food wasn’t great, considering the price point which is a bad reflection of Dominican cuisine in all honesty. The breakfast buffet was the worst I’ve ever been to in all my years of travelling and I always feel so embarrassed to send things back or not finish food as it is rude in my culture but both times I went to the breakfast buffet I was extremely disappointed only managed to eat some yogurt and fruits! Staff was amazing super sweet very polite and helpful.

Stayed here for 4 nights and loved the property and the setting. As it was low season, being one of the few guests on resort made it feel like you had the space for yourself! The three F&B venues opened alternatively for the different meal periods which was okay considering the handful of guests on resort however the service was left wanting. You would think that since there were so few guests, the staff would pay more attention to those were there but that was not the case. Staff at the restaurants and bar were present but could not be found when you really needed them. We would share an appetizer but no sharing plates were offered. Cutlery was cleared after appetizers, no replacement was not offered even after main course was served. Tables missed salt or pepper or both most times at breakfast, drinks ordered served after we finished our appetizers for dinner on our last night and the list goes on. Although these may seem small, it's not what you expect of a five star property - especially an Intercontinental.

InterContinental Dominica is one of the most breathtaking properties in the Caribbean. It is surrounded by Dominica's lush mountains, giving it a serene feel throughout. The rooms are very spacious and bright, and can easily accommodate a family of 4. The downside, however, is that IHG's strict policy does not allow for more than 3 guests in a room (even when paying for a rollaway bed.) The staff are extremely courteous and went out of their way to be helpful. Chefs Suresh, Alana, and Dipu made extraordinary Trini and Indian meals made especially at our request! The bartender, Brad, was very friendly and made delicious fresh fruit drinks. The general manager, Pascale, interacted with the guests frequently and made sure we were comfortable. The hotel is situated right on the beach, but during the time of our stay (Feb 2024), there were big rocks preventing us from going in the water. The sea, however, was clear and beautiful. All in all, the InterContinental allows you to explore Dominica's wild beauty, while coming back to the comfort of a 5 star resort.

We stayed at this IHC property for 11 nights, spending about $750 a night. We were on a tour that involved swimming with whales each day, and management was asked to make sure that our rooms were cleaned in the morning so that we could shower and relax after returning from an active day's activities. On three days our room was never serviced at all (despite three requests to do so on one of those days), and we had no turn-down service on multiple evenings. The hotel was at very low occupancy - maybe 10-15% - yet staff in the restaurants and bars always seemed overburdened. The atmosphere at the resort was funereal, although the property itself was lovely. On one occasion we returned at about 3PM from a whale excursion to find that an enormous buffet was set out at the pool bar. Several members of our party requested that the buffet stay open until 4:30 rather than the planned 4:00 shutdown, so that they could shower and change before enjoying. Management said no, and huge amounts of food were carted away at 4:00. Eating in the main restaurant felt like eating in a Denny's, with bright overhead lighting and generic table settings. At breakfast, I can't count the times I had to get up from my table to go and find sugar/sweetners or salt/pepper, things that ought to have been on the table from the moment it was set. IHC, this property does NOT meet your basic standards! Cannot and will not recommend.

We decided to stay at a high end resort during our quick visit to Dominica - we clearly made the correct choice. Everything was perfect, the room, staff, food - no complaints! We enjoyed the spacious room, bathroom with a large walk in shower and separate tub, and a double sink and mirror. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, we particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The grounds are beautiful and so relaxing.

First, the staff is friendly and kind. ZZ at the kids club for my 6 & 8 year old was lovely, she was so wonderful with kids! However we paid a premium $$$$$ to stay and it was lacking in many ways. I’m writing this for others considering the long journey to Dominica and what to expect. Especially for the high cost! We were here 3rd week of March which is spring break in USA and it was empty. Aside from our friends we traveled with I only saw 4 other groups on a property that is massive. There is a lack of energy- no staff walking the pool to service guests, no music, no local entertainment in evenings, no one working the beach engaging with guests to try kayaking etc. none of that . The meals are mediocre- and we had a hard time finding meals for kids. No activities or ideas for guest to explore the island. Our room was very nice, clean, well designed. But again sooo expensive!!!! It just feels like a massive hotel chain built this and left- no intention behind the details. We will not be returning. If you’re coming all this way Secret Bay is just down the road and very intentionally designed around nature, intentionally helps guests plan their stay and the food is incredible.

The service was top notch. Fernando( manager I believe) was very nice and kept making sure everything was fine. We are vegetarian, my son pescatarian and he made sure the chef knew and could accommodate any request . They have an excellent vegetarian menu and the special menu they have (someone mentioned $125 but it is in fact 125 EC) and very reasonable for the quality and a luxury hotel. The grounds are amazing, I wasn’t sure before booking because I like eco friendly resorts but Kempinski is blended somehow in the surrounding mountains. It was a treat to have a view from the Cabrits National park from our balcony. On Valentine’s Day we had an amazing dessert waiting for us at the room. The beach is amazing and the cleanest I visited in the island. I snorkeled there and didn’t see one single piece of trash which unfortunately was not the case in the other places. The only minus point is that they allow smoking in the grounds so every morning in the balcony I had the beautiful view but also the smoke from the guests next door who unfortunately smoked non stop, even by the pool. The kids club is amazing! I had a hard time convincing my son to leave. Overall I would definitely recommend Kempinski but make sure you have a room far from smokers if like me that bothers you

I realize the effort to maintain a resort in the middle of a pandemic is an incredible challenge but the resort goes out of its way to make things difficult. After a long twelve hour day to get there we sit down at an incredibly beautiful facility for dinner. There were three white wine by the glass to chose; my wife chose the sauvignon blanc, the next question from the staff, "what is that", so we spelled it for them and told them that hopefully the bartender can explain it to them. This was our fist 30 minutes at the place and basically a preview of how the week would go..... On most nights there was one restaurant open, which under any normal circumstance would be fine, except when they closed the restaurant for special menu. December 28th was "champagne and lobster dinner", which is fine but we were not in the mood for either. So our dining choices for the night were either sit in our room and order room service or pay $125 per person for the spaghetti and meatballs. I am sure their spaghetti is delicious but at $125 a person, it would have to really be excellent. In all fairness they did try and offer that the chef could make "something" else for us but they made it feel like a true imposition. My point, why not advertise that the restaurants will have a limited menu? Information is everything, finding out when you sit down at a table is not appropriate. ( And yes there really was a $125 spaghetti choice on menu, I am kicking myself for not taking a picture) One bright spot, Marbeth, she was a breathe of fresh air and an incredible pro, why she was not put in charge of training the staff is a mystery, she ran circles around everyone. Without her the week would have been a total disaster. If you go, make sure you ask for her! The resort is gorgeous, and at some point it will be a real five star resort, I just don't understand why they make it so challenging in already challenging times.

We had some service issues during our first 2 nights here but we were approached by Samar and Keaun, the general manager and the supervisor, and they were very apologetic for the inconveniences we experienced and took our feedback on board instantly. From then on, we had a much better experience - we even paid to extend our stay. You can tell they really care about the satisfaction of guests so if you have any issues while staying here, I encourage you to speak up to give the hotel the opportunity to change that. The hotel grounds are really beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are modern and clean, plus we had a great view from our room. We didn’t expect the hotel to be so quiet as there were not many guests but it was nice to feel like you have the whole resort to yourself and they do provide live entertainment on Sundays. Free Parking is available and the hotel cart can take you between the parking lot and reception, or even close to your room entrance. Be sure to request it from the front gate if it’s not offered as it should be available 24/7 but stairs are also available (although not recommended for those with mobility issues). Jahmal was super friendly and chatty when driving us around on the cart and made us feel really comfortable. All the staff at breakfast were very helpful but Mahlissa was so lovely and very attentive - a true credit to the hotel. There’s a really good variety for breakfast as omelettes, pancakes, waffles and French toast can be ordered, in addition to the buffet breakfast available. Mahaliyah looked after us very well by the bar and the pool, and always had a smile! The service at lunch was great also and I would highly recommend the Island Burger and ribs. Overall this is a beautiful hotel with breathtaking views all around. I would recommend this hotel for those looking for a luxurious stay on the island, and I’ll definitely be back again!
