Renaissance Portsmouth-Norfolk Waterfront Hotel Reviews

The desk clerk at check in was very nonchalant, I didn’t feel welcomed at all. The room was average and hot even though we put the thermostat on 65. I didn’t realize they just opened the hotel in January I wish I would’ve known that.

The property was under renovations, and honestly I originally was unhappy, but the staff was so amazing. I have to say I would stay at this hotel anytime any day.

The walk from the parking garage elevator to the Front Desk which was located in the back of the property.

Under renovation-lobby and hotel entrance inconvenient. Would not have stayed if knew was under renovation.

Cons were construction in the hotel. Have to walk around the building outside. No cover if raining. Everything else is Pros.

Service was amazing. We were accommodated due to a light fixture not being in place. The restaurant was Chef’s Kiss. Loved the fish and chips for dinner and the breakfast buffet the following morning. Our waitress April displayed excellent service. The front door staffed noticed us on the elevator leaving out and provided us with a cart for our bags and offered to help us to our vehicle. The only downside was the pool area. The heated pool was not heated. The pool area was very different compared to other areas of the hotel. I’m hoping that it will be included into the new update that has started. Overall we would return.

This stay was not as pleasurable than the previous visit do to construction at the entrance and having to walk around to the back of the hotel too en

Nice hotel, clean quiet area. If you stay, get a room with a river view. Gorgeous!

Beautiful hotel. Anthony at the bar made me feel welcome and provided a great experience. I had the she crab soup and it was wonderful. The young man and young lady at the front desk took care of me and were friendly. The room is nice, had my name on the tv when I walked in. Thank you Renaissance, I will be back.

Really nice property with great views of the river. The room was really upscale and modern!

Outside of getting woken up from screaming and yelling from another couple staying at the hotel and the extremely long time for security to finally come and take care of the situation, no housekeeping, only one outlet working in the room, having to unplug the tv to turn it fully off and the terribly expensive breakfast, the front desk staff was awesome, the view from the room was amazing and the rooms were comfortably clean.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. Very friendly environment, the bar was great. Food was excellent and the staff was even better. Definitely coming back to stay at this location

Enjoyed the general location but i think other amenities should be considered such as a shuttle to the downtown areas.

We booked here hoping to get a really good rest before our 18 hour drive home the next morning. The bed and pillows were comfortable but there was a loud fan outside our window that made a terrible squeaking/screeching noise constantly. We each only got a few hours sleep because of this. Not sure how far away thos noise could be heard from but I imagine the room below ours is even worse since the fan is closer to that level. These rooms should not be used until the dan is fixed!
