Duchy House Bed and Breakfast

We booked at the Duchy but were barely there. We needed to be in the area for a close relatives home-birth, but in the end we were needed from the outset. We eventually went to the Duchy on the last day, after checkout, and Caroline was incredibly sweet, making us breakfast and welcoming us to use the room to have a nap in before our onward journey home. Lovely place and lovely people. Highly recommended. ❤️

Great place to stay, me and my wife we really enjoyed staying at Duchy House. Amazing food, room was spotless. Very welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely come back and recommend this place.

Absolutely perfect, breakfast was amazing, flexible with check in time as we arrived late as we were driving down for work. Very friendly and nice stay despite work.

Very clean and well presented. Good quality bed linen, towels and toiletries. Lovely breakfast and it was great not to have to pre-order the night before. Good to have on site parking. There’s also a public car park in the village with electric car charging.

Great stay, ever so helpful owners and very friendly. Can't recommend this place enough. Room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. Can't thank you enough for helping me and my girlfriend out. Great place to stay only downside which is not there fault is how isolated the town is.

Friendly, comfortable and affordable. Good location for exploring central Dartmoor. Excellent breakfast and convenient parking. Only stayed for one night but would definitely return for longer next time I’m visiting Dartmoor or the surrounding area.

Free safe parking at rear For good food drinks and company there’s the Prince of Wales pub just 2 min walk away. The house was nice and warm on a cold February weekend and hosts were very pleasant and made us feel quite at home. Thanks

Warmly welcomed by Richard to a light, warm, modern Duchy House B&B, right in the heard of Dartmoor. Our room had a large window that looked out over Dartmoor, unfortunately the low lying cloud meant we didn't get the best of the view, but the weather changes during the day. We were in a double room with a bathroom, table, chair, large tv, clothes rail, bedside lamps, large mirror. To my delight we had a 'Nespresso' coffee machine, along with teas, hot chocolate and kettle. Also had a hair dryer. The bed was firm and really comfy, it was comfortably warm in the whole building too. The decor was light and no clutter, nice touch to remind us we were on Dartmoor was the antler effect light fitting, our room was also named after one of the ancient Tors in the area. As we drove away later we saw we were surrounded by Tors, a real mystical feel in the area, especially with the low swirling cloud. Cooked breakfast served by Caroline who was friendly and attentive, I had the vegan option and my partner Steve had the meat one, which included sausage patties (we had not heard of these before but he enjoyed them). There was also cereal, yoghurt, fruit juices and toast. The parking area was behind the property, spaces for 5 cars, not sure if the garden was private or part of the B&B. We would definately recommend the Duchy House B&B

Very pleasant one-night stay in Dartmoor. Lovely hosts. Major kitchen renovation was underway, so breakfast wasn't available during our stay. Several good options for meals right down the street. Room was very comfortable. Easy access to hiking trails right from town.
