Attraction of a river side is irresistible to us. We keep rushing to Rupnarayan, Ichamati, Damodar or Ganges periodically. Diamond Harbour, Falta, Taki, Gadiara or Kolaghat - these routes are frequently traversed. One fine morning we decided to spend some time at the banks of Rupnarayan. Sonar Bangla is the best option at Kolaghat, great location. But the way 6/7 house keeping staffs surrond the checking out guests hoping for tips - that's an eye shore ***** with high tariff and mediocre food. So we started fiddling around with Larika Inn, Rupsi Rupnarayan Kuthi and two other mid budget hotels. MakeMyTrip showed a room at Rupsi Rupnarayan Kuthi for 6,500, but on ditect calling we got a three-bed river facing super deluxe room (first floor with balcony) for 4,500. Its little costly than allotted budget, but after arriving there we got our value for money. I will never miss Sonar Bangla again. Now let's talk about pro's and cons. What we liked: While lying on the bed, while sitting at the balcony with a cup of coffee, while in the swimming pool, while at restaurant, while walking in the park - whenever, wherever you look - its Rupnarayan right in front of you! Very good food. Undoubtedly better taste, quality and spread than Sonar Bengal at a proportional rate of price. Great swimming pool. There are also two smaller pools with shades for the little ones. There are pool chairs. There ate shower rooms. Everything is clean, well maintained! Pets are welcome. I got a new friend here, Leo - an adorable golden retriever. We got professional staffs, including the house keeping - way better than Sonar Bangla.. We had to search for the one who gave us the most service to give away the tips. Got a good location. Where Sonar Bangla ends, Rupsi Rupnarayan Kuthi begins, same location. What we didn't like: There are two mini fridge slots in the super deluxe room but without a mini fridge. Had it been thete I wouldn't have to go to the kitchen to keep the beer cans! Breakfast is complimentary. Taste of food is good but the food is unreasonably costly. Value for money on food - not found. I couldn't find any shade on the passage leading to the dining space. Those who came to provide room service during rain, came wet. It is better if the authorities look into this. Check out at 10am! Could not afford to wake up late on a holiday, couldn't afford to have a slow relaxed breakfast either! Can't they allow another hour for checking out? Hardly anyone would reach there by 11am (their check in time) for a relaxing trip. Instead of 10/11, it would make more sense for 11/12.. Conclusion: Great place for a one night relaxing luxury stay. Also a very good location for photography/photoshoot. If you have dinner at the hotel and lunch at a standard dhaba/restaurant on the highway at Kolaghat, tongue, stomach and bank account - everyone will be happy.
