Upon arrival, one rings the bell for entrance suggesting it is secure. Greeted warmly at reception and shown to my room which immediately raised red flags. It was right where people walk through and next to the dining area; not for a light sleeper. She found another room which seemed ok, but in the evening I heard loud kitchen noise at the head of the bed! I heard people using the toilet right where my door was even though told no one used it! There is NO heat in the hotel (99.99% anywhere in Ecuador) but I found a space heater. The breakfast is basically the same every day (fresh fruit/ juice, rolls, eggs, cheese and a kind of meat slice, coffee and tea.) I told them that room wouldn't work and when I returned from the Amazon, they found an upstairs room and only one other person in the hotel so I had decent sleep. It's nicely kept, WIFI was ok most of the time, water available to refill your private water bottles. Reception informed me of a unique restaurant few streets away: "Casa Warmi Ecuadorean restaurant in Quito" (Spanish only, but they are happy to assist). The hotel is in a University area of Quito, and didn't seem to have parking.
