The Islander Hotel
3.6/571 Reviews
Very nice and friendly staff. Well like many, we checked out of our hotel and needed a place to store our luggage while waiting for the 11pm flight home to LAX. They were great, they provide locked luggage storage for $5nzd a piece. We left our luggage and headed to Muri beach for a few last hours of beach time. When we got back, they offered us shower services for $10nzd per person. After showering, they let you stay in the bar/patio/dining area while you wait for your flight so long as you purchase food or drink. We ordered 2 mock tails and waited for our flight, the patio had a wonderful breeze and we caught our last Cook Island sunset until we return. These guys are very professional and situated perfectly as they are across the street from the airport. Literally a 1-2 minute walk.
Sanctuary Rarotonga on the Beach (Adults Only)
3.7/579 Reviews
Sanctuary Rarotonga wasn't just a hotel, it was a portal to an underwater wonderland! Stepping onto the beach felt like entering a postcard – pristine sand, cerulean waters, and waves gently breaking on the distant reef, leaving the lagoon within a serene, crystal-clear embrace. The snorkelling here was like swimming through a living kaleidoscope. I'm talking clouds of butterflyfish flitting like stained glass wings, and even a majestic moray eel peeked out from its coral castle. Every dive was a new adventure, with countless colourful surprises waiting to be discovered. Speaking of adventures, the pool area was our own private oasis. Sheltered from the wind and sun's warm embrace, it offered the perfect spot to cool off between snorkelling escapades. And let's not forget the swim-up bar – our happy hour haven with delicious cocktails that quenched our thirst and matched the vibrant hues of the surrounding reef. But Sanctuary's magic extended far beyond its stunning location. The resort's restaurant was a culinary gem. Fresh, flavourful dishes at reasonable prices – what more could a sun-kissed explorer ask for? And those island-inspired cocktails? Let's just say they were the perfect sunset companion. The true heart of Sanctuary, though, was its incredible staff. Friendly, helpful, and always going above and beyond, they made us feel like cherished guests. Check-in and check-out were as smooth as the lagoon itself, and free parking and a nearby bus stop made exploring the island a breeze. Kayaking and paddleboarding were included in our stay, adding an extra layer of excitement to our island adventure. We paddled across the glassy lagoon, feeling like true explorers navigating a turquoise sea. Plus, having snorkels, fins, and beach towels in the room meant we were always ready to dive into the underwater paradise whenever the urge struck. Our room was a cozy haven, decorated with a charming island flair. The comfy bed was perfect for resting after a day of exploration, and the air conditioning was a godsend on those balmy Cook Islands nights. Sanctuary Rarotonga wasn't just a vacation; it was an experience that left us yearning for more. Whether you're a snorkelling enthusiast, a cocktail connoisseur, or simply seeking island serenity, this place has something for everyone. It's a haven of friendly faces, crystal-clear waters, and unforgettable memories. We can't wait to return and write another chapter in our Sanctuary story!
The Edgewater Resort & Spa
4/5104 Reviews
We stayed at Edgewater for 12 days as part of a holiday/work scout and it was beyond everything we expected. Basic room was perfect for our needs with great air conditioning which is essential and complimentary tropical continental buffets breakfast each morning. We had an amazing room which was on 3rd floor behind the restaurant with views of the pool, sea and stunning gardens from our window and balcony. The staff were so great, always happy and couldn’t do more for us including see us walking around the island and giving us rides in their personal vehicle and on their personal time. Complimentary snorkelling gear was well used by us and we ate frequently from the restaurant and definitely used the bar a lot. Got a massage at the spa which was blissful and easy to book in for. We will definitely be coming back again, I don’t think we’d want to stay anywhere else! Special mention to staff Ngaoa with reservations help and hospitality staff Veti, Jimmy, Mila and activities team. My only negatives were we had a room that seemed it adjoined to another by a double lock door but when someone was in that room it was not sound proof at all and was very loud. The guests that spent two nights there were unfortunately loud till the wee hours so that kept me awake. Luckily that was only for two nights and then they were gone.

The Rarotongan Beach Resort & Lagoonarium
3.7/5104 Reviews
This hotel is very cost-effective, especially suitable for traveling with children or families. It is close to the beach on the beach. The location of the restaurant is great. You can watch the sunrise early and the sunset late. Although there are not many types of breakfast, it is perfect for children to eat. Feed fish, the lunch order is good, the price is about $ 15-28, the dinner dinner variety is over $ 18-36, there is a music party after dinner, it is good to have a drink and listen to music; the hotel's snorkeling, kayaking and other equipment They are all provided free of charge. Many children in the hotel have play areas and swimming pools for children. The scenery of the lagoon is also very beautiful, and the clean sea beaches are also very soft. Because they go in the off-season, they are generally cost-effective.
Manuia Beach Resort
4.4/556 Reviews
We stayed here for 5 nights for our honeymoon. We found the bed and pillows comfortable. The rooms were clean and pretty quiet, with air con and a fan. Soft fluffy towels. They presented the room beautifully and with a complimentary bottle of bubbles due to it being our honeymoon. The outside shower was a nice novelty. The pool by the beach was awesome. The only downfall was the associated restaurant OTB, which provided the free breakfast. They also pencilled us in for dinner on the first night and we agreed to a booking there, but found it over priced and the worst food on the island that we had. A short walk down to Waterline Restaurant is a better option. I would definitely recommend staying at Manuia, but eat elsewhere! Manuia staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ricky at the front desk. Great value for money at Manuia.
