Under construction, we did not find out until we showed up at the door. They did not offer to set us up in another property. The noise was excessive. We complained and then the Manager said he could have set us up in another one of their properties. The manager was no help at all.

Even though extensive renovations underway on upper floors, our first floor room was clean, and quiet.
Desk staff was excellent in answering any of our concerns or questions.

I didn't get what I paid for! The property is undergoing a major remodel/construction project and that certainly affects the stay.
Room problems:
1. French doors to balcony were completely painted over on the outside makin the room totally dark inside in the daytime.
2. Shower inoperable... head plugged. Maintenance repaired this 20 hours into my stay.
3. Robes advertised on website weren't present and when I asked the desk weren't available.
4. Had to move a nightstand lamp to the sitting area to be able to read.
The website promises many amenities including gym, steam room, sauna, robes, and onsite restaurant. Due to construction, these options are temporarily indefinitely closed with the exception of the restaurant which is open intermittently, but was closed for the day when we arrived.
This is a promising property with potential in a great area but... I didn't get the things that led me to opt for this property. I'm truly disappointed and cheated by *******!

Unfortunately online it wasn’t disclosed that renovations were underway and we weren’t informed until we went to check in. Our room was not ready until after the original check in time, and the room did not have any art work, had plain white bedding, and there was no shower curtain present in the walk in shower - a curtain rod was present, but there was nothing to keep water from making the bathroom floor incredibly slippery. The tv was advertised as having HBO, but in reality it was just standard tv channels without a guide present. The patio for our room wasn’t clean and cigarette butts were present, and a light outside the patio on the pool deck was flashing on and off all night and visible through the gap in the curtains. The vending machines only take cash, and the overall advertising was misleading - there was no art hanging up and had I known the situation over all I would’ve selected a different place to stay. Construction noise started before 8am and ended around 5pm. The staff was nice, but overall I was disappointed by the discrepancy between the online presentation and what I got in person.

Overall a good stay, but there was some minor inconveniences such as the showers Water pressure didn’t work while we were trying to get ready which set us back about an hour for our plans for the day. and they were undergoing renovations, and it was pretty loud

Hotel was undergoing a major renovation. They asked me to move my car after I was in my bed at 9 pm.
They ran out of Kleenex in the whole hotel.
They price was right for the inconvenience.

The Castillo Real was a very nice hotel. The restaurant La Cocina was very good. The rooms were large. The location was very good-right across the bridge from St. Augustine. Rhonda at the front desk was very helpful. Parking was ample. The hotel is under renovations. We really didn't hear any noise. The one negative was room service was inconsistent. They came on a day we didn't expect it & didn't come on a day we were expecting. Other than that I would recommend the hotel highly.

This is a very nice hotel and we were very comfortable. The only problem was that it was under consturction, so the amenities were not available and the workers on the floor above us started banging at & am. I would highly recommend this hotel after they finish remodeling.
