Motel 6 San Francisco, CA – Fisherman’s Wharf

there was a $100 deposit fee not directly stated in the policy separate from actually paying for the room and when I asked for a reciept I was explicitly told that I would only recieve it after check out. The halls itself smells like urine and the bedsheets are stained. Would not recommend going here

Person at check in had terrible costumer service, had to pay por parking in the property and had issues with tv, control not working

The picture in the add had a refrigerator and a microwave but neither one ! Parking at another $10 ? Not near any fisherman warf too ? But nice comfortable bed ! That’s good 👍

This Motel 6 wants a $100 deposit for some reason, the rooms are small and gross. There is a $10 charge to park in a dark, trash strewn parking lot with very narrow spaces. Some guy connected to the clerk stood outside and watched everything I did while I was taking my luggage to my room. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink, the 12 year old TV only gets Dish which requires payment, no local or basic networks - so no tv. Furniture is old, 80’s wooden, and dirty.

staff is not kind. no microwave. no mini fridge. no soap. dirty towels and small medium size only.

8 hours after i checked out, i realized i left my pillow there. I was still nearby at a different hotel and drive over to try to retrieve it. The clerk said it had not been reported. He said he would call the cleaning perusing at home and i have him my number to call after he talked to her. I never received a call. I called the next morning and he "states" they never found it. Now how do you not find a special private pillow. I feel they probably threw it away and lied about it.

Nice property and pretty quiet. the room was very spacious with an updated bathroom. No coffee maker in the room :(. Market and a couple of small restaurants right across the street. Easy drive to the wharf and parking at the site was reasonable. Good value for the money.

Summary: If all you care about is a bed at a decent location then this will be fine for you. The bed was comfortable enough and the location was fine. That is about all the good the hotel had though. I have stayed at a good amount of motel 6s and even in that frame of reference, it was not great. I checked in and the front desk person very aggressively told me no guests allowed multiple times and no smoking. I wasn't planning on either of those, no need to be rude about it. I get into my room to find it smells like smoke and there's a hole in the wall where the fire alarm should be. I immediately went back down to tell the grumpy guy who checked me in so I did not get charged a fee. The shutters were missing multiple shingles. Someone had taped a towel where one was missing to maintain privacy. This was common throughout all the rooms from what I could tell. Bathrooms were "redone" with the shoddiest work you will ever see. Door handles misaligned, sealant spilling out of cracks, etc etc. Moldy areas were a common sight, see photos. I think I was most disappointed when I went to take a shower and the water wouldn't get much warmer than lukewarm and the water pressure was nearly a trickle. Bring earplugs and an eye mask if you want to get any sleep.
