I've stayed at the Plaza Madeleine multiple times, and it's always a delight. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are nicely appointed, and it's perfectly located, not only in the town of Sarlat, but for touring the entire Perigord Noir region. The lavish breakfast buffet is a special treat. And there's nothing I like better than sitting outside on the front patio in the evening enjoying a drink and a little nosh, watching the world go by. I always look forward to coming back!

This is a poorly managed hotel, kind of like the old BBC show Fawlty towers. The rooms are small and stuffy, but the chaotic way things are handled is the real problem. If you go before it’s officially summer even if it’s 85 degrees they will not turn on AC despite their website claim that it’s an air conditioned hotel They should say it’s an air conditioned hotel a couple of months a year. The front desk is often unattended When I was finally able to secure some cooling device in my room that helped me finally get sleep they removed it the next day and could provide literally no explanation for why they did it. I’ve traveled a lot for work throughout my life so I’ve seen a lot but this is the first time I was driven to write a negative review.

We spent 3 nights at Plaza Madeleine while exploring the Dordogne area. Great location in Sarlat-la-Candeda. The staff was very helpful in making dinner reservations. The room was great. Breakfast was the typical buffet. Because we were out for most of the day, we parked near the hotel and paid for 1-2 hours of parking. After 7pm parking is free until 9am so we would set out before 9 for a cheap way to park conveniently to the hotel. This may have been easier in the off season (late Oct) than it might be during the summer.

Great little hotel, reception staff very friendly, room smallish but very nice. Pool area ideal if you manage to get some afternoon sun as we did. Location could not have been better. Bar and restaurant turned out to be a great plus, food was surprisingly the best we had in Sarlat and the service was warm and friendly.

We stayed here for five nights as a base to explore the Perigord Noir, including Sarlat itself. It is the perfect location for touring the region and a delightful town. We arrived before our room was ready and the staff very kindly stored our bags and gave us a map with restaurant options for lunch marked. The advice was spot on. We decided to spring for the suite, since it was an anniversary trip, and it was more than worth it. Lots of space, an incredibly well equipped kitchen, lovely views over the trees and the roofs of Vieux Sarlat. Everything was immaculately clean and the AC (it was well into the 90s everyday) worked well. The king bed was so comfortable, as was the bedding. Breakfast offered a large array of options and the staff were so kind and helpful. In fact from reception to the bar to breakfast to housekeeping everyone was warm and welcoming. There is a bar in the hotel, which we tried because we were offered a welcome cocktail. Discovering how comfortable it is and how good the bartenders are, we went back on two more evenings. Overall. this hotel helped to make our visit to the area special.

The hotel is just in front of the pedestrian area. Parking is not easy on-site, but there are free big parking lots at 4 min by foot. The rooms are not big but cosy, very clean and functional. The staff at the reception and the pub were very helpful and fantastic. The SPA is nice and open from 9 to 21. overall, a very good stay.

Last year, when we were in the Dordogne region with our family, my son's fiancé had an important job interview via zoom. Unfortunately, the WiFi in our accommodation was unstable. We went to this hotel and explained the situation and they were so helpful, setting her up with a room and allowing her to use their WiFi. We said then that we'd definitely stay in the hotel on our return and it didn't disappoint. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, room was lovely and food was good. The pool/spa is very nice and we had direct access from our room. The hotel is situated at the end of medieval Sarlat's main street so perfect for wondering about. The only criticism I have (and it's a small one) is that I feel the hotel's garage, which is about 5-10 mins walk from the hotel, is a bit expensive at €16 per night but other than that we thought it was perfect and would highly recommend!

Very charming hotel in heart of town. Quaint and very walkable. Hotel staff was exceptional. The personnel at breakfast each morning were the best. Any request was happily fulfilled. Very friendly. Lovely bar as well. Bartenders were friendly. We loved Joules. Would definitely stay there again. They humored the Americans who only knew a few French words. Much appreciated

Top class hotel with spa and swimming pool. In centre of Sarlat. Continental breakfast has top quality items, unlimited top ups of coffee. Friendly helpful staff who provide professional service at all times. Rooms have air conditioning and are quiet and comfortable
