"A beautiful inn in a stately building near the center of Scheemda, with a stylishly decorated dining room and side room. The hallway leading from the entrance was truly impressive, as were the high ceilings. The reception/bar area felt a bit run-down, as did the main hall. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and warm rolls. The owner was friendly (?). The downstairs room felt a bit damp, was simple, but otherwise clean. A reasonable price for the night."

"Very kind people took over this place a few months back. It was the best hotel we could find in the area for travellers without a car, and it was a good choice! Honestly service and kind approach to a customer can make up for any stars. Breakfast was tasty and fresh. Coffee and tea available all day."

"Hotel looks good on paper, but the reality is different. The booked room did not match the image on the website. It was a cell with two top lights for daylight and fresh air. In weekends you can't eat in the hotel. Alternative is not available. Then you need to go to Delfseil, Appingedam or Groningen. Loading point electric cars do not work, so load along A7, 20 km further! Further in the village no facilities, in the hotel nor the possibility of buying water or eating anything. Hotel suitable for employees, but not for tourists. The next time again to Van der Valk Southbroek."

"The hotel room was very spacious and generally clean. Some things in the bathroom were quite worn. The beds were very comfortable, and there was air conditioning in the room. Unfortunately, the key codes didn't work. After a quick call to the hotline, they gave me a new key code, and I was able to get in. It was still a bit annoying, though."
