Our sea view room was very comfortable and had everything needed for a short break. The breakfast was very tasty and I strongly recommend the Signature dish. Lastly I have to mention the staff and owners of the hotel who were extremely friendly and made our visit a very happy one."

The Queens Road Hotel
"You might have an idea of what to expect from a hotel stay: to be greeted at the front desk, to have a bar and a breakfast service on the premises, to stay in a room which is serviced with fresh towels and clean linen... There's none of that here. We stayed for a week and some days saw no staff (there's a webcam in reception). There were tea and coffee making facilities in our room when we arrived but this was never replenished, the towels were never changed, the bed was never changed; the curtain was hanging off the rail; the bar downstairs was never opened. The website claims that breakfast can be booked for £10 per person but good luck finding anyone to book it with. There are a number of very pleasant hotels along Queens Road but sadly this isn't one of them."

"Wow, this must be the jewel of the Isle of Wight. Such an amazing place to stay and the hostesses Chris and her son Luke are just amazing. The rooms were spotless and so comfortable. Breakfast is cooked to order and Chris’s handmade bread is fantastic. A fantastic location within walking distance. The only problem you will have is deciding when you can go back. "Just had a great 3 night stay on the Isle of Wight at the Richmond bnb in Shanklin. Very clean tidy and spacious. Breakfast ranged from full english to continental, in fact all good. Mark and Cass were very welcoming and helpful, and have got the hospitality balance just right. Close to the main street for amenities and a brief walk to the historic Old Village with plenty of quaint pubs/places to eat. The sea front is also a short pleasant walk, just around the corner, with more attractions. Enjoyed our stay on the Island and found all the people we interacted with very friendly and relaxed. Would definitely go back and stay at the Richmond."
Rylstone Manor
"Mike and Carole are extremely welcoming, cheerful, and hard working hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. Spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds and ample storage space. Light and airy. We stayed in Fir which overlooks the rear gardens. We saw a red squirrel jumping and climbing in the trees, and green woodpeckers on the ground and on a tree, tapping for ants. A fox was having an afternoon siesta underneath the trees when we arrived and looked out of the bedroom window. So much woodland life to enjoy, and for my husband to photograph. The breakfasts, freshly cooked (ordered the night before) by Mike, and served by Carole, are delicious. I had fresh coffee, orange juice, fresh fruit salad followed by smoked salmon and scrambled egg, then kippers and scrambled egg one morning. My husband chose a full English breakfast with fried eggs. The toast was not made from the normal ready sliced tasteless bread, but from a flavoursome loaf. Plenty of choice and options available. The breakfasts really set us up for the day ahead. They recommended a taxi company to us to enable us to visit Carisbrooke Castle without it taking 1.5 hours on 2 buses, plus we booked taxis to get to and from Shanklin station. Mike and Carole suggested places to visit e.g. Godshill Model Village, and a good tearoom in Godshill, plus Shanklin Chine, which Rylstone Manor backs onto. We plan to stay again. It was like a home from home, with the large sitting room at our disposal too. A truly relaxing and enjoyable 3 nights, thanks to Mike and Carole. Just please improve the dribbly showers if possible."
