"Arrived unpacked only to find room wouldn't lock so moved to another room next door. This room (No. 2) was a lot smaller. Beds and pillows not comfortable. Furniture looked old and decor needed looking at even though new bathrooms looked like they had been replaced no hot water, toilet wouldn't flush. I could go on. Staff were really nice even though they had a lot to deal with. I would not recommend staying here for the price charged I would expect much better decor. I believe hotel has changed hands now so here's hoping for improvement."

"My wife booked ourselves and our granddaughter in for an overnight stay before heading down to Blackpool for a short break. After doing some shopping at Gretna outlet we arrived at The Gables and were met with a lovely woman on reception who checked us in and was very pleasant and chatty. Room was nice,sure it could be doing with some TLC along with paint etc but bed was comfortable and bathroom was fine,although the seal of window needs repaired as there was a constant flow of cold air coming through it all day and night. We ordered evening meal in the restaurant and my wife ordered macaroni cheese and chips,granddaughter ordered sausage and mash and I chose steak pie and chips which all 3 meals tasted lovely and hit the spot. Breakfast was ok and filling but worth the £11:95 being charged? ....not really in my honest opinion. All together staff were friendly and pleasant,bed comfortable and yes I'd definitely be back! "

"From the outside (scaffolding etc) we wondered what it would be like but we were pleasantly surprised.  We had booked a standard room which was clean and tidy with all the bits we needed, kettle, tea/coffee, hairdryer.  The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.  Breakfast could be cereal with milk or yogurt, cooked breakfast, toast or croissant, big choice and all fresh and freshly cooked.  We had the cooked breakfast - WOW - lasted us all day.  The little town of Annan, all I can say is, if you don’t visit it, you will miss out on a treat. PS the scaffolding is for all the renovations which will improve the property.  We would love to return one day."

"We had a 2 night break our room was a Queen bed double room and dog friendly as is the hotel.the room was exceptionally clean and warm the bed was extremely comfortable the wardrobes and units gave ample storage and the shower was hot and comfortable to use .there are also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We ate at the restaurant both nights and breakfast was included also.The quality of all the food was excellent and all staff were very friendly and efficient ,Really enjoyed our stay and would hope to go back in the future"

"We enjoyed Carlisle very much. However, the hotel room (suite) was not what we booked and paid for. It should have had a sofa the whole reason i booked the suite but there wasn't one as advertised. There was suppossed to be a mini bar, bottled water, bathrobes and slippers and there was none of this. When i enquired about the sofa i was told it was removed as it was not fit for purpose."

"A friend and I were visiting the area for the first time to play 2 rounds at Silloth golf course , we needed somewhere that provided comfortable rooms, excellent quality food, welcoming bar and a good breakfast. The new owners are currently renovating the hotel to a high standard yet manage to deliver all of this along with fine hospitality. Silloth is a wonderful jewel of a course that we will return to next year so already looking forward to booking here again and experiencing the great service within a fully renovated hotel."

"We stopped at Gables Hotel for my daughters and Son in-laws wedding, on the 1st of Nov, we had their wedding reception in the beautiful Galloway Suite , after her getting married at the Anvil Hall . We decorating the wedding room the night before the wedding our self's, the Manager Jorn stopped up with us helping till 2.30 in the morning bless him, he could not have been more friendly and helpful if he tried 😀, thank you Jorn . Charlotte the wedding organiser, was spot on with her correspondence with emails and phone calls , covering every little concern we had , with the smallest problem to the very end, ie, the measurements of the tables as I was making the table garlands and curtains myself. Even down to the food choices , again thank you Charlotte 😊. The buffet was fantastic, so much food choice, rooms wete lovely and clean, the wedding party were on the same ground floor near the wedding reception. Also a big thank you to the bar staff Carl, and the ladies Nicolaon and Jane on reception they were so friendly , and all the staff that that worked so hard. You even gave my daughter some chocolates and fiz on the morning of her getting ready for het wedding. Little touches like that makes a big difference. Thank you to everyone, we will definitely stay at the Hotel again. From Mr & Mrs Bryant & mother and Farther of the Bride ."
