Guest UserAs someone who’s traveled around Mauritius quite a bit, I can honestly say Legend Hill Resort and Spa is one of the best new properties on the island. It’s perfect for honeymooners, family vacations, or anyone just needing to disconnect and recharge in a beautiful setting. The combination of incredible location, luxurious accommodations, amazing food, and top-tier service can’t be beaten. We’re already planning our next trip back—10/10 would recommend! 🌟

We really liked the hotel: comfortable, cozy, quiet at night, first line, private clean beach with a beautiful view, which was cleaned every morning especially for the comfort of guests. The only thing to consider is that you definitely need to rent a car here, because taxis are expensive and take a long time to wait. But we rented a car, so everything was great.
I played golf on the local course, and my wife and I also went to the spa, where Kevina and Sweta gave us a very good massage.
There are a lot of small lizards on the territory, but this is a typical story for Mauritius, there are a number of insects that the staff actively fights, and at breakfast you can be bothered by rather impudent sparrows. But the hotel was so good that we did not pay attention to these little things.
In general, the hotel is top. I recommend it. Despite the four stars in the hotel rating, it is much higher than many five-star Turkish hotels.

Rats in restaurant
On arrival the hotel is really beautiful - a small oasis tucked away with gorgeous colonial style. The reception staff were really lovely and made us feel welcome.
The room was really nice - but there were a few things we noticed (which we let slide at the start) - massive dirty lipstick mark on one of our water glasses, filthy lampshades above the bathroom sinks, bed linen that didn’t feel particularly fresh and the robes as well had a slight greyish colour rather than bright white which they were meant to be. These were all minor things at the start which we didn’t even mention to each other but did notice.
We then had our first night at the cocktail bar where our drink was served by the lovely barman (very polite and smily) - as we were drinking we saw a huge rat run across the terrace - we decided it was an island and maybe this is normal (although we really weren’t happy about it). We then were dining within the restaurant and again a huge rat was running towards the table. For us, this is not ok. We asked to move tables as we saw a rat and the waiters barely acknowledged it - didn’t offer any apology and then proceeded to avoid our table for the rest of the night. We informed the manager the next day who assured us he was aware and the rat had been caught, and to “give it a chance”. We weren’t offered so much as a complimentary drink. After dining in the restaurant again the second night and again seeing a rat - for us it was time to check out. Not only is it unpleasant seeing rodents running around while eating but I would say it’s a hygiene issue and makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen and the safety of the food.
The only concession we were offered was to not pay for the remaining nights that we would not be staying for.
Really disappointing. On hindsight some things we would add about the whole experience:
- Not a 5 star in terms of food, service or cleanliness
- Staff really hit and miss - some very friendly some really rude and unhelpful
- Rooms didn’t feel clean
- Food was average - nothing felt fresh including breakfast
- Quite stingey with water - water not replaced within our room (had to ask for it)
We are now staying at a different hotel and haven’t seen one rat, so don’t think this is “just an island thing” as the manager stated. The service and food are also worlds apart which has really solidified that our review of 20 degres sud as completely justified - not a 5 star experience whatsoever.

Guest UserThe hotel itself is quite good, a standard five-star property with excellent hardware and good service, located right by the sea. In terms of location, it's a bit far from the main attractions, and there aren't many shops or restaurants outside the hotel, so you're pretty much confined to the hotel premises. Every room is a sea-view room, and overall, the rooms are lovely. The front faces the ocean, and the back has a garden where many little yellow birds have built nests. The hotel has several swimming pools. Swimming in the sea is also an option, though the water was a bit chilly in the mornings. The beach isn't very fine, with some rocky areas, but it's still great for photos, and the sunsets are beautiful. The hotel beach offers complimentary paddleboards and other facilities. We also booked a free snorkeling trip that lasted over an hour, where a boat took us out to the reef. The captain and crew were very attentive, keeping a close eye on my husband, who isn't a strong swimmer. It felt like they were ready to jump in and save him at any moment, haha. I had a great time with some other guests (who were white) and saw many fish, although a lot of the coral has bleached. We stayed for three days, eating two meals a day at the hotel. The main restaurant maintained good quality, with rotating menus; one day featured Mauritian cuisine, and another was a seafood buffet, where we enjoyed unlimited sea urchin. There are two other restaurants as well. We booked the beachfront restaurant one evening, and while the sunset was stunning, the Western food was truly awful. We promptly canceled our reservation at the other Japanese restaurant and went back to the main dining hall. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this hotel; all the staff are enthusiastic, and the service is very attentive.

Compare to Lux Belle Mare and Lux Grand Baie, Lux le morne is a disappointment in terms of service level. The structure of the buildings look nostalgic but it’s well maintained. The level of hygiene seems to be high. I love the beach which has the best on the island. But it is a shame they couldn’t utilise this. If you imagine the other two lux hotels I mentioned above are for Waitrose and harrods sippers then this le morne hotel is for Tesco shoppers.
They made mistakes in billing and quality of drinks is mediocre. I can do better at home.

Let's talk about it from a few conveniences
Facilities: three restaurants, two swimming pools, one of which is heated. The breakfast in the main restaurant is quite exquisite, and the food I ate for three days has not changed. The floating restaurant for dinner is very interesting and tastes good. It's just a little cold (it was winter when I went there). The spa is good and worth experiencing. I didn't try golf and shooting. It's a pity that there is no snorkeling activity.
Sanitation: Very good, your room can be cleaned twice a day, and you will be asked at 7 o'clock in the evening if you want to tidy up the room and send you more water. Very good.
Environment: This is too cozy to say.
Service: This is very good, much better than the five-star hotels in the island cities in China, probably because of the enthusiasm of Africans.
If you have to say the disadvantages, the hotel is very good, but it is a little old. The creaking sound of the floor in the room is very loud, and I am worried about waking up my companions when I get up at night.

The RIU Turquoise was genuinely one of the best stays I’ve had. The rooms were amazing — spacious, modern, and always spotless. You could tell a lot of care goes into keeping everything at a really high standard.
The beach is absolutely beautiful, with clear water and a really relaxed atmosphere, and the pool area is just as impressive — plenty of space, great vibe, and perfect for unwinding. The spa was also a highlight, such a nice place to properly switch off and relax.
Food-wise, it really exceeded expectations. Having multiple restaurants gave loads of choice, and everything was consistently good. The steakhouse in particular stood out — easily one of the best meals of the trip.
What really made the stay though was the staff. Everyone, from reception to the restaurant teams, was so polite, friendly, and welcoming. The level of hospitality was outstanding and made the whole experience feel effortless and enjoyable.
Overall, an amazing hotel with great facilities, fantastic food, and genuinely excellent service — would 100% go back.

I stayed at this hotel for one night. A small hotel. The rooms are good, clean, pleasant. The entrance to the sea is not very good. But you can go to the right and get to the public beach. It is wonderful and convenient for swimming. From the hotel I sailed on a boat with an open bottom. Surprisingly, the trip turned out to be unusually interesting. A lot of fish and beautiful corals. The hotel corresponds to 3 stars.
