Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport

Our flight arrived at 9 PM, so we stayed at Hotel Nikko for a night as a layover. Compared to most hotels in Japan, the rooms at Nikko are quite spacious, and the two beds are a good size. The cleanliness is excellent. Although it's a bit older, it's very well-maintained. The lobby is grand, the service is impeccable, and the overall environment is great. The hotel is located right inside the airport, so you barely need to step outside, which is perfect if it's raining. It seems to be situated between the two terminals. I walked from T1 after picking up my luggage, and it only took about five minutes. Extremely convenient. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, and the environment was quiet – not noisy at all. The view was lovely; my room overlooked the sea, and I even saw planes taking off in the morning, which was quite interesting and magical.

Great location, right across from the airport. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk there, which is perfect if you have an early morning flight. Plus, there's a Lawson convenience store on the second floor of the hotel, which is super convenient.

The room was spacious, and it was super convenient for an early flight. They also provided free samples.

This hotel is very close to Terminal 1, but it's not actually inside the terminal building. As shown in picture 1, you cross a skybridge, and then turn right to reach the hotel's 2nd floor entrance. It's only a two or three-minute walk. Check-in is on the first floor. There's also a great burger place on the hotel's 2nd floor; their burgers are delicious! It's super convenient to get to Rinku Premium Outlets from here. You just go down to the first floor of Terminal 1, and the shuttle bus departs from platform 12. It costs 300 JPY, and you can pay with your Suica card via mobile. The outbound bus schedule isn't fixed, usually running about once an hour. The last return bus is at 5:30 PM. It's also very close to the beach, perfect for just relaxing and zoning out.

I booked a premium economy twin room, which at 29 sqm was the largest room I had on this Kansai trip. It was the hotel I stayed at on my last day, and it was such a pleasant surprise! When I booked it, I thought it would be quite old, but it's incredibly well-maintained. The window overlooks the runway, but with double-layered, super thick soundproof glass, it's completely silent! You can't hear any planes taking off or landing! The toiletries provided are all Pola! The hotel is right next to Kansai Airport Terminal 1, accessible via a connected walkway, making early and late flights hassle-free. Mr. Nishikawa (if I remember correctly), the elegant front desk staff, even pronounced my name correctly using pinyin (so touching!) and gave me two sets of skincare samples. After dropping off my luggage, I headed straight to Rinku Town Premium Outlets, one stop before the airport, which is directly accessible via the Namba line. The shopping there is fantastic; I highly recommend dedicating at least an entire afternoon to serious retail therapy.

Overall, it was decent, primarily thanks to its location right across from Terminal 1 at the airport. It's a bit tricky to find; you have to exit Terminal 2 on the second floor, walk through the JR subway station, and then go down to the first floor to locate it. The front desk is on the first floor, but you have to access it from the second floor. The room facilities were standard, and the room itself was quite spacious. The bathroom was clean and tidy, though the fixtures were a bit old.

Kansai Airport Hotel is a must-stay for layovers or early morning flights. Just walk straight out of the terminal, cross the station, and you're there. Head down the escalator on your right after entering the main entrance to check in. The service was excellent, very warm and polite. As for the hotel facilities, don't let the 'airport hotel' label fool you into thinking it's overly simplistic. While it's a bit basic, it has everything you need and is very convenient. The internet, in particular, was fantastic.
