Detailed review coming right up as the reviews on here really lacking and I was unsure what to expect when arriving. Came as a Solo, felt perfectly safe. Check in was quick and easy, passport kept overnight as usual. Room was clean and tidy, fridge with one bottle of water. No toiletries at all, soap via dispenser on wall. And dispenser in shower. Plenty of hot water but shower head was a little strange. Hair dryer in bathroom was ok for a few days, did the job. Kettle and a couple of tea bags/sugar- not replaced. No milk. New towels replaced by the maids. Safe included no extra charge. Plenty of wardrobe space etc. Lots of children around, to be expected in a Tui Blue family! My neighbours were extremely noisy one evening, had to call down to reception as their children were constantly bouncing a ball and screaming….the noise soon stopped after my phone call, thankfully. Beds were ok, mattress protectors were on top. Air con worked fine. Tv, fair few English channels and if you went into settings you could get the language back to original English. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Bar service good, local drinks, only tried the vodka and some cocktails, which were pretty good and I am fussy! Self service drinks, strawberry and tropical slush, Lemon Fanta! Albeit DIET, can’t win them all!☹️ full fat coke and diet both available, no need to bring straws there are plenty available. Tea/coffee/hot chocolate self service machines. Food- usual buffet but was pretty good! I always found plenty to eat and good quality. Was only one night when I struggled to find something I liked. Wasn’t always the warmest but typical of the canaries generally. And I am a fairly picky eater. Chocolate fountain was a plus as well. Breakfast plenty of pastries, wasn’t too keen on the hot breakfast. Churros and crepes were nice with plenty of chocolate Nutella type sauce. Pool area clean, didn’t go in the pool as was quite busy with children. Nice and quiet on the grass area and plenty of sun beds. Towels available with a towel card given at check in, no need to bring your own. Entertainment wasn’t really for me but some may enjoy it. Nice little pebbly beach at the front of the hotel but not much in close proximity. There is mini market across the road from the hotel. Bus stop also a few mins walk. Did use the spa which was quite nice. Probably wouldn’t go back as so far away from things but enjoyed my stay. Ignore the negative reviews I am fussy and had a good time at this hotel.

We just returned home from a week here with our 19 month old. I highly recommend this hotel for those with babies/toddlers in particular. Pros: Clean grounds & pools Baby pool was perfect for our toddler to splash around in Grass area with sunbeds was great for her to play on Splash park area was so much fun, she loved running around there Good variety of food each day Travel cot provided Good food choices for children, aswell as kids cutlery, microwave etc available at the restaurant 2 great play areas for small children Indoor baby room full of toys, feeding equipment, changing area etc - used this most days when we woke up early Organised baby activities were great e.g art class, story time Lovely shops & restaurants in close proximity Cons: Uncomfortable bed Evening entertainment is quite loud from the room even though we were 6 floors away Slow service at the Taverna a la carte Very rocky beach, not really useable Not a very nice walk along the promenade, pretty much alongside the motorway

Came for a short break (3 nights) and this place was worth every penny. Staff from reception to the chefs were friendly, attentive and overall great in every way. The food was as good as any five star we’ve stayed in previously, the cocktails I have to say were probably the best we’ve had at an all inclusive. Tasty and all every time garnished. Good touches. Weather, at this time of writing, is absolutely boiling hot, very little wind this side of Maspolomas, but the beach is pebbly so don’t expect sand. Generally catered for families with children there is a lack of adult activities but look and there are some and the TUI staff are all super friendly and welcoming. If you want to quieter rooms go 7th floor up. Don’t stay near the performance area as it’s quite busy and loud at night. We stayed in room 716 and it was perfect. The image is from our balcony. Lifts are also quick and reliable.

I have given 5/5 ad the pros hugely outweigh the cons for this hotel - if you are looking for a family break, especially with young children, I would highly recommend. Pros - Top of the list has to be the entertainment, and in particular the entertainment team. Miranda, Sean, Heather, Thiago, Martina and the rest of the team are absolutely brilliant at their jobs. They have a great way with the children and lead every activity (and there are loads, both in the day and the evening) with enthusiasm, a smile and a palpable passion for their jobs. I can't speak highly enough of them all. - The evening entertainment is particularly good for children, so ith multiple 'shows' staggered through the evening, with the later ones aimed at the older children. - On top of the activities, the facilties for children are also great. Playgrounds, splash parks, a soft play room, a baby lounge, arts/crafts - there is loads to do. - I know some have said the opposite, but I was impressed by the food in the restaurant. If you are willing to wait for the live cooking, especially, the food is cooked to order, fresh and hot. - Availability of food and drinks through the day is also good - snack bar, lots of self-serve drink stations. - The location is great, as long as you are not bothered about the lack of a beach. Very short transfer from the airport, lovely 1km walk along the coast to the next bay, quiet and unspoiled compared to more touristy towns on the island. Cons There are a few, and they are all quick fixes, so I would advise the management of the hotel to get them sorted so that they don't detract from the excellent work of their staff. - WiFi - doesn't work in most places around the hotel. Get a tech team in and invest in a proper network solution! - Showers - need upgrading. - Beds/bedding and towels - as above. - Spa/lane swimming pool - these are unnecessarily expensive for already-paying guests. Reduce the price (of the spa particularly) or remove from the selling points of the hotel and treat separately. All in all, we had an amazing time. I would love to return and hope that when we do, the quick wins will have been acted upon, but that the brilliant staff will remain!

This is a nice young family hotel, but by no means is it a TUI blue in comparison to others with this title. Firstly, we came as 2 older couples knowing that this was a family hotel, however it is described as having “quieter adult only areas”. The only adult only area was a small section of seating in the dining room. There were no dedicated areas around the pool or a certain floor for adult only rooms in the hotel. The rooms are average and dated, the towels are thin and uncomfortable and haven’t been updated presumably since changing to a tui blue. We reported that our shower didn’t work properly and would flood the bathroom so we’d have to use all of the towels to stop that but nothing was done. The beds are uncomfortable and the furniture in the room is damaged and dated. The rooms aren’t cleaned upon request, the beds are just re made. I know this because I dropped pencil sharpening on the floor by mistake and despite my efforts getting them up, they weren’t cleaned up afterwards. The WiFi and tv in the room don’t work. The rooms aren’t sound proofed and you’re often woken up by people in the night or children running up and down and screaming the next morning. Were not normally a couple who struggle to eat at all inclusive restaurants as we aren’t fussy, but the food was very hit and miss and we found ourselves eating out a couple of times during the stay as the food wasn’t great. Even the children’s section couldn’t help out. Breakfast is very basic and the best choices come at lunch, but the food is often not replenished quick enough and unless you get it fresh coming out, the food was cold every day. El sultan the restaurant attached, is stunning. The food was incredible, but you can only eat there once every week you’re there. Which I find ridiculous given that you have to pay to eat there anyway, it’s not included in your stay! Playa Feliz the attached hotel was much better for the snack bar as the food was kept covered and heated. The pool area was quieter and the pool cleaner, in the main orquidea pool, there were black bits floating all round the pool. We assumed it was algae from the grout around the sides, as the pools were cleaned by a robot machine on the evening but it only cleaned the bottoms, therefore we spent most of our time at playa Feliz as it was much cleaner. The hotel is looking out for the planet at being more resourceful but this also means you only get one bottle of water at the start of the holiday and you have to fill that up in the hotel, which is fine, however the drinks machines are too small to fit a large bottle of water in and this then becomes difficult. The man made beach is small and you have to pay for beds despite it being on the complex which is a shame. Good transport links for the bus and close to the airport. Overall this is a lovely hotel for young families with tonnes of things and activities for children and babies, but other than that there aren’t a lot of overwhelming positives. I

On the whole everything is positive except … not enough consideration given too adults. only a very small area given in restaurant buffet and swimming all the pools full of children and nowhere for adults for quiet swim unless you want to pay 12€ an hour for spa. While it maybe too much too expect adults only pool. We realise family oriented hotel simple float barrier across large pool would have given adults some space. Also food luke warm but plenty of choice. Gardens and Hotel immaculately turned out and very friendly hard working staff. Would recommend and would consider returning again.

We booked the Orquidea online, through TUI having researched where to go on Gran Canaria for a relaxing & restful holiday in a relatively quiet area of the island. TUI & the Orquidea exceeded our expectations in every aspect. The Hotel complex is expansive, catering for everyone, allowing space for all. It is very family friendly yet you can remain quiet should you prefer this. The TUI team, with Naomi at the helm, work incredibly hard to please everyone. They are cheerful, professional, polite, & seem to enjoy every moment. I love sport/keep fit & was looking forward to some ‘active’ classes. I attended a significant number of the exercise sessions ably led by Stine & Marcus. Both clearly love their jobs, are very capable, & provided great class instruction, coupled with great fun. They are amazing. I loved every moment of the varied classes (Pilates, Yoga, Aqua Fit, Relaxation - others too), & can’t thank them enough for their enthusiasm & kindness during our fortnight here. TUI Blue comes highly recommended. Karen

After reading all of the recent reviews, I was absolutely dreading this holiday and, had I been able to, I would have changed hotels. However, I am so glad I didn’t as we had a lovely break! The food was lovely (I am a fussy eater) and always plenty of choice. I saw no issues with hygiene, nor did I see cockroaches crawling over food. The food in the Taverna was particularly nice and completely free with all inclusive. The pools were busy but we always managed to get a sunlounger despite never ‘fighting’ for one at 8am. There aren’t enough sunloungers, so we ended up buying one for 10€ across the road. The pools do have black bits in that I do think is unacceptable but seemed harmless. The rooms were spacious and clean and maids visited everyday. There isn’t a lot to do around here but for a couple of euros you can get to neighbouring towns and have a day out. Whilst we were there we did not see or hear about anyone being unwell neither did we see people crying to go home as some reviews claim. My only negative lies with tui for allowing all inclusive from so many neighbouring hotels - this makes the hotel too busy. Would I return? Probably not, but that’s due to my own personal preference of trying new places, not due to the hotel. If you are booked to go here, don’t worry - you will have a great time!

We stayed at the Orquidea for a week all inclusive. The hotel room was ok- bathroom very small and shower was not very powerful at all , otherwise was ok nice sea view. Wi-Fi was poor in room, and most of grounds it does not exist. Best area was main reception, so if you rely on Wi-Fi you will struggle. The main restaurant - one thing we could not fault was the food- lots of selection and choice and freshly cooked options. They are continuously topping up!! Drinks are all self service- no teapots !! But made do with coffee pots!! And milk from children’s table to make tea. There is an adult area to sit in, but it felt very cattle class- people hanging around waiting for you to finish eating, which made us feel a little rushed!! Staff did a great job of keeping tables clean. We did wonder what it would be like in height of summer season. We ate at the taverna one night- but wish we had not bothered- it is a set menu , we looked forward to seabass but it was not available- we also had a drink spilt over my hubby by the waitress, - they were very apologetic - accidents happen we know, my husband went to get changed- but the still proceeded in sending food to table whilst he was gone. Pools were very clean- well looked after and there is a lifeguard but he covers 3 pools and kept order well. Some are used for activities - aquatic aerobics, water bikes, paddle board exercise, if you want to participate. I was a little dissapointed that the lane swimming pool- which is prominent in the TUI adds is an additional fee.€5 euros for a couple of hours- hence it stood empty most of the day- it is a shame that - ma be allow a couple of days as part of all inclusive would be good- same for spa too €20 per session the quiet pool was the one in Bahía Feliz- but that one is saltwater. The drinks during day are mainly self service and plastic cups- there is a selection of cocktails included for all inclusive. The bar at night uses glasses. All the staff are friendly and hard working especially Pepe and the restaurant team. We did enjoy a morning stroll outside of the hotel each morning- but not much to see, the area is mainly residential or apartments- lovely on the promenades against the sea, but you cannot go long before you have to go from the beach
