Gem Holiday Beach Resort

Had a great time here, easy check in and they helped me call a taxi for my events later that evening.

Booked this hotel having stayed there before. This time we were upgraded to the Kalinago Hotel next door at no extra charge. Both are located on a small idyllic beach with beach-side bars serving drinks and food. Reception staff friendly, helpful and efficient. Absolutely pure Caribbean atmosphere.

The property itself is very nice, however the experience at the front desk checking in was not that good. The last thing one wants to do is to try to remember 20 plus things someone is saying to you about the amenities etc. after you have traveled for over 10 hours and is tired and beat! I think a print out of those things would be extremely helpful to give to guests instead of someone saying it while one is trying to fill out forms. The gentleman at the front was not welcoming at all. The other staff members were great, especially Loraine, Roxanne and Ingrid.

The staff was remarkably friendly. I felt very well served at all times. BBC beach is the most peaceful place you can imagine. The view is great.

Really liked the location, close to Grand Anse, but juat over the hill and still quiet, with a less busy beach in front of the hotel that provided stunning views. The apartment iself is not very modern, but it was spacious and it was only a short walk to find places to eat and drink. Overall it was good value and the staff were friendly.

Our room was cleaned daily by a committed housekeeping staff. Lorene & Ingrid were exceptional, warm and friendly. They were limited by the lack of resources. Gem is conveniently located on a beach, however the rooms are showing their age and it is clear that management has not invested in updating the room in a very long time. Basic things like a running toilet tank, having to hold the lever to get the toilet to flush, a refrigerator that leaks, all reflect the lack of intention to the small details. For the most part, the staff was helpful and friendly, however, there was a server at the bar at Kalinago who was rude, dismissive and very combative. I was told that she was fairly new to the team. Management could do a better job of ensuring that their employees, as in this case, properly reflect the values and the mission of Gem/Kalinago. Deslin, who assisted us over breakfast and the bar at Kalinago was exceptional! Her maturity level and attention to details, along with her deep care for her customers was appreciated.

My little stay at this hotel was amazing.. I have been to other countries in the Caribbean and their hotels even though more expensive, they still don’t touch the simplicity and beauty of this place. The best part about here, was the friendly staff. Especially Kathleen, I know I probably nagged her a lot but she’s such a kind person with a beautiful heart. Will never forget them :)
