Borgo Petroro

Wonderful quiet place to stay in the countryside but near to lovely villages in Umbria. It is very close to Todi, which is lovely, also beautiful villages like Spello and Montecalco are a must see! Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The borgo was really lovely, very clean, comfortable, quiet, and the staff was so helpful and kind. The restaurant had fabulous food, sort of Michelin restaurant style, and the wait staff were excellent. The pool was not open yet, and too cold for the outdoor dining patio, but would looked like it would be fabulous when the weather is warmer. But the indoor dining was elegant and a real delight. Also a great place to go if you don't want a touristy spot, and you want quiet and beautiful surroundings.

Perfect locations to switch off for some time and relax. The remote location of the castle makes it very calm and the very nice service team is always there to support you. A highlight was definitively the wine tasting which was carried out in a small group and very informative. The room was perfectly equipped with everything needed. The only point where I still can see some room to improvement would be the restaurant. The quality of the food is good but waiting times are a bit long.

This hotel is full of zen and relaxing atmosphere. We had a luxury family suite for 5 of us. It was truly luxurious with a jacuzzi and sauna. The restaurant is outstanding as are the staff. It is exceptionally clean within and outside. The pool area and bar are excellent. I would suggest eating at the hotel or driving to Todi for a meal as taxi costs are outrageous.

If you are a family with kids avoid this place. We have a 7 year old and were travelling with another family with kids. We had booked for 5 nights but left after two nights stay (we payed the fee but it was very well worth cutting our stay short) Cons: - Rooms are dated, gloomy, smelly, and dark. - Rooms have very bad layout. We stayed at Royal family suite with private spa (La Greppia). It was 3 tiny floors. An unusably dark and damp jacuzzi room in the first floor and one bedroom other floors. - None of their rooms have a fridge or kitchenette. It was our mistake that didn’t realize this when booking. I Pros: - It is picture perfect if that’s why you are travelling to Umbria (we weren’t) - The restaurant food was good and we all enjoyed the dinner

All the staff are friendly, professional, and went the extra mile to ensure that we had an outstanding experience. The food was absolutely exquisite, and the setting is stunning, like a scene from a fairy-tale. We have visited the Borgo a few times before our wedding and on every occasion the service and experience has been superb. Thanks to Andrea and his team, we have created incredible memories here. He guided us throughout the planning process with his knowledge, recommendations, and professionalism. The process of arranging a wedding in another country could have been challenging without his advice, guidance, support, and knowledge. This is a hotel that is characterized by its team, which makes it perfect. There is nothing better than walking into a beautiful room that is clean, spotless, and smells divine (here is no doubt that the cleaning team does an excellent job) In addition to this as you listen to bird song, you will be blown away by the views. The reception team are fantastic and will go above and beyond to make your stay as perfect as possible going the extra mile to help. They are approachable, professional and always friendly. Just superb and an asset. Recruiting and cultivating hardworking, diligent, professional, friendly waiters and waitresses / kitchen staff is difficult. All of the members of this team are exceptional and a credit to the Borgo and whoever assembled them. Each of them is incredibly polite, professional, friendly, and hardworking. Our hearts are full of gratitude for your kindness and everything you did for our wedding weekend. The Chefs - just unbelievable. Each and every meal was exquisite well-prepared delectable meal with great presentation and interesting flavours. Food that I can only compare to ambrosia, the food of the gods! I’d highly recommend it to anyone. It is impossible to overstate how highly I recommend Borgo Petroro to you, especially Andrea who coordinated every step to ensure our wedding was a success. When challenges arose, his quick thinking and determination made them disappear. The Borgo Petroro is a true gem of a hotel, with the team it makes the Borgo so, so special. Bravo!

Wonderful hotel, understated and simple charm. So much character! The staff were Al very friendly, we travelled with our 1 year old and they all made a real effort to wave and smile and be engaging with her. Music playing in the areas really adds to the ambience. A perfect place to explore Umbria.
