must try in life. The staff are super friendly and warm. Garden view is very well designed. In the early morning you can hear birds singing. The hotel has two in-house onsens which are way better than other public onsens in the town in my opinion.

This is a century-old store. A few minutes' taxi ride away from Kinosaki Onsen Station. Next to it on the narrow road is another old store, Mikiya, with a thoughtful welcome. As soon as you enter the hotel, you can see that everything is exquisitely tidy and well maintained. My Japanese style The room on the second floor is not big and the facilities are excellent. You can see the courtyard on the first floor. It is estimated that the humidity will be higher. There is an exchange of hot springs. The large pool is not as clean as the private hot springs, but the hot springs have a strong smell of disinfectant water. Many European and American guests in this hotel can see half flowers in the hot springs. The European and American girl with a big snake on the back of her arm had a bad dinner experience in the room. She was very tired. The pace of the food was served. The quality of the dishes was not up to par with the same 4,000 people in Hoshino Kai. The cuisine is designed to have a luxurious feel. The Fufu series also has disadvantages in the room. After eating the roast beef, there was a big smell in the room. The lady who served the dish was very tired carrying heavy tableware. The food was served in the breakfast hall at a good pace. Many of the seasonings for both meals were Japanese-style sweet and salty, which was too sweet. The service is relatively basic. The reception at the door is very warm. There is a Toyota delivery service. The tea bar is not as rich as Ginsui Village and does not change according to time. The house here has almost no soundproofing. The exhaust fan and air conditioner are loud. You need to prepare earplugs to block the light. It is warmer than the average Japanese style. The hotel is good. I have experienced many hotels during this trip. The renovated Jiayun under Kyoritsu has the best impression. The food is good and the water is smooth. One hotel and two meals only cost more than 1,000. One person has experienced Shuzenji Arai and this hotel with a long history. I will not want to book again in the future. But Inatori Ginsuiso booked it again this time

The hotel will send you an email a few days in advance to confirm some matters, such as when to arrive, whether to arrange pick-up, breakfast and dinner arrangements, etc. The hotel is quiet and beautiful, and the service is very good. There is hot spring soup in the hotel, so you don't have to go out to the so-called seven public hot spring baths. The hotel's hot spring has two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. You don't need to bring anything. The toiletries inside are Pola. Just put on the Japanese yukata and take the key to the door. It is much simpler and more convenient than bringing towels when going out. Besides, on such a hot day, 35-37 degrees, won't it be too hot to go out? There are too many people in the public hot springs, so there is nothing good about it. I booked half board including breakfast and dinner. There are two kinds of breakfast, Japanese style and Western style, at 9 o'clock at the latest, and it is ready when I go, and I am too full. I ate dinner in my own room, served one by one, the chef selected the ingredients every day, exquisite and delicious, and I was too full, haha. Needless to say, the service is top-notch. There are free drinks in the hotel refrigerator, water, juice, sports drinks, sparkling water, beer, and coffee, milk, and fresh juices on the first floor for free. The hotel also rents bicycles for free, just make a reservation. After riding for about 5 kilometers, you will reach the seaside in the north. There is also a small aquarium, which is probably a national park. Otherwise, leave it to you to see for yourself.

The room is big enough and the service is very good. However, I am not used to having dinner in the room. The meal time is relatively long. It is really slow to serve each dish. Maybe this is a characteristic of this family. In short, we are used to our fast pace. , This is really a slow life! In addition, it is really expensive, and the room rate is really not cheap.

This was our first (and only) Ryokan in Japan, and we wanted it to be special. They did not disappoint. The building is beautiful, and retains an old world charm. Staff were professional and so friendly. We had a ground floor room with a private outdoor onsen, and that made the stay so special as it was cold and rainy outside and hanging out in our own "hot bath" was fabulous. Sleeping on futons on the floor wasn't so bad (for two nights). Breakfast and dinner were amazing. So wonderful having Kaiseki dinner served in our room while we were dressed in yukata clothing provided by the hotel. We didn't try the hotel's onsen, but did go to two others outside. Our favorite onsen was right next door - Goshono-Yu. Treat yourself if you can and stay here.

Nishimuraya Honkan is a very expensive ryokan at Kinosaki onsen town, especially during Matsuba crab season, but it is worth it for the superb environment, service and food. I arrived on an early train from Osaka around 1 pm, was escorted to the coffee lounge to complete check in procedures and told I could return at 2 pm and be shown to my room and provided with my onsen pass to visit all 7 public onsen baths of Kinosaki onsen. It is well worth it to arrive early before check in time for the ryokans and to take a later train out on your departure day. Early arrival will allow you to hike or take the ropeway up to Onsenji temple and follow the tradition of praying to the onsen guardian for a blessing before taking to the waters of Kinosaki onsen. Late departure will allow you to make full use of the onsen pass that is included in the price of most ryokans as the pass is valid from 3 pm to 3 pm of the next day. Generally busy times at the public baths are 3 pm to dinner time, then after dinner to closing at 11 pm and then early morning on opening until normal check out time for ryokans of 11 am, so late morning and early afternoon are usually quiet times at the public baths, handy for those who are trying to complete the onsen circuit of all 7 public baths in Kinosaki onsen during their one day stay. I was assigned a garden view room on the ground floor and had a fabulous view of the courtyard garden. It is well designed so that I never see other rooms eventhough many are arranged around the courtyard garden. Everything in Nishimuraya Honkan is beautiful, well maintained and serenely tasteful. My room was quite large with a large combined sleeping and sitting tatami mat area with a low table for the in room dinner service, which is then pushed to the side when staff set out the futon bedding after dinner. There is also a separate sitting area by the window that has more Western style chairs that are more comfortable to sit on than the traditional flat to the ground Japanese chairs. There is a bathroom by the entry foyer with a sink and a separate bathroom with a tub and hand shower. The toilet though is off in another part of the room by the sitting area by the window. I found the room very comfortable and slept very well on the futon bedding. Nishimuraya has two public boths that are alternated between men and women with the larger bath reserved for men during the afternoon and evening and the smaller bath reserved for men in the morning, and vice versa for women. Each bath has a larger indoor pool and a smaller outdoor pool. It was rarely occupied by more than one other person when I visited the baths during my two night stay as the 7 public baths are the much bigger attraction, being generally larger, more diverse in setting and much nicer in many cases. Most visitors seem to focus on the public baths and completing the pilgrimage to all 7 and stamping their special souvenir map with the unique stamps of each of the 7

I had high hopes for staying in a Relais & Chateaux property. I was disappointed. After staying in so many wonderful ryokans in Western Honshu, I found that this ryokan was old and had not been updated in many years. The in suite hot tub was a small, dark, windowless room. Once I saw it, I didn't want to use it. Instead, I went to a facility down the street. The bedding was traditional. Futons were put out while we were at dinner. I added an extra layer myself. It was comfortable enough to get some sleep, but the room felt quite cramped compared to every other place I had stayed in Western Honshu. I didn't feel any connection to the staff, although they did their jobs adequately. It seemed, to me, they were more "corporate" than the ryokans that I stayed in previously and were family owned. The gardens that I could see from my room were quite beautiful.
Response from Property: Thank you very much for staying at Nishimuraya Honkan and for you kind feedback! We understand that maintaining the delicate balance between preserving our 160-year-old ryokan's traditional charm and ensuring modern amenities is crucial to providing an exceptional guest experience. While your standard room reflects our ryokan's heritage, we do offer a variety of larger rooms with more spacious accommodations, private open-air baths, and some even with western-style beds. We would be delighted to introduce one of these rooms to you on your next visit, please do not hesitate to reach out to us in advance and we can find the best room for you. We accept reservations up to one year in advance. Thank you also for your feedback regarding connection with the staff. As you correctly indicate, the spirit of "omotenashi" (or customer service) is an essential part of welcoming guests and we take pride in providing sincere, and from the heart service to all of our guests. We deeply regret if our staff did not perform to this expectation (even if the service was adequate) and will share your feedback with all of our staff as we continually brush up and endeavor to make each and every guest visit to our town a memorable one. We cherish your patronage and look forward to welcoming you back to Nishimuraya Honkan in the future. Thank you once again for your kind words and for choosing our ryokan.

An absolutely perfect inn with wonderful food and a**osphere. Their public baths for hotel guests only are excellent. Our dinners were served in the restaurant next door. We loved eating here. The service was so friendly and I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed the beef and crab and other seasonal dishes.
Response from Property: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at our ryokan. It warms our hearts to know that you enjoyed your stay. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future.

This was our fourth visit to Nishimuraya Honkan, and just like our previous stays, we went during Matsuba-gani (Red Snow Crab) season, which runs from November 6 to March 20. This was also our fourth different room - this time, we went for the highest category accommodation, which is the 90 square meter "Honjin No Ma" (本陣の間), a Tokubetsu ****su ("special room") with open-air bath on the second floor. We chose the largest room because we were a party of 3 adults this time, and wanted the extra space that Honjin No Ma offers. Honjin No Ma has a living room, dining room, bedroom and an open-air, free-flowing (and temperature regulated) bath. While the living room is a tatami-floored area that has floor seating, for those more comfortable with sitting in chairs, this room has an added benefit of a separate dining area that has a Western-style dining table and chairs - this is where you'll have dinner and breakfast, and can do work during non-meal hours if you so choose. A few things of note: First off, despite what others may say or think, there is NO ONSEN IN ANY ROOM at Nishimuraya Honkan, or at any other ryokan in Kinosaki Onsen, for that matter. DO NOT let anyone tell you otherwise. I'm not sure if it's because of a limited amount of hot springs that flow below Kinosaki Onsen, or if they want to encourage all visitors to try out one of the seven public bathhouses in town. Thankfully, there is onsen at the ryokan itself - but you'll still have to go to the Daiyokujo (gender-segregated communal bath) for the privilege of having a soak in a real onsen. As far as Honjin No Ma is concerned, it has traditional decor and furnishings, is spacious, comfortable and not at all dated. The other advantage of this room, for those that care, is that breakfast is also served in the room. Beginning in June 2022, Nishimuraya Honkan serves breakfast to all guests in the main restaurants except for people staying in Honjin No Ma. Dinner, as always, is served in one's own room regardless of the room type you choose to stay in. In a way, we felt that the Kiri No Ma room type was more charming - it's on the ground floor and faces the photogenic garden, which brings a sense of peace and tranquility that is lacking in the upper floor rooms. While Kiri No Ma does not have a dedicated dining room, it still has two rooms - one gets converted into sleeping quarters once they roll out the futons after dinner. We would be just fine staying there in subsequent visits. The star attraction, of course, is the Matsuba-gani Snow Crab that Nishimuraya Honkan offers during crab season. What separates this place from others is that the crabs are taken direct from the local ports of Tsuiyama and Shibayama the same day that they catch the crabs. Just about all boats take multi-day outings in search of crabs, but not the one that specifically serves Nishimuraya Honkan. Not only that, but each crab is held - alive - in its own individual tank to reduce the stress, which allegedly pres

You get used to leaving your shoes at the door. We loved the room with our private onsen in the garden. Used it morning and night. So relaxing to hear that water on the rocks. We stayed 2 nights. Loved the dinners in the room. They bring the items a little at a time, rice cooks in the room. They give you menu in English so you know what you are eating. Delicious! We had breakfast in the dining room which was also good. You can choose English or Japanese breakfast. They lend you the Yukata's and wooden shoes to go to the 7 onsens. I had no problem walking in them, my husband did a bit. They also lent me a Kimono. You just call the staff so someone can come put it on you. Mine was pink with an orange sash, so pretty. I wore it to go to the temple on the cable car. Everyone is so nice. The futons were not as thick and cushy as another Ryokan we stayed at in another town, but they were still nice.

BOOK THIS HOTEL! Loved our stay and totally worth the 2.5 hour train ride from Osaka. Was able to check in promptly at 3 p.m. and our bags were whisked away to our room. We immediately received our onsen pass and were able to get in a bath before our kaiseki dinner. The next morning we were able to explore more of the public baths and had an amazing breakfast. The town shops open around 11 a.m. so you can really get away with one overnight stay if not more. Beautiful property, relaxing stay and a nice option to visit a tattoo friendly onsen town

The staff was incredible at this gorgeous property. A superb multi course dinner and breakfast were served in our room each day. The room also includes a pass to all the public onsen, but the hotel also has two Onsen for guests. I was the only one using them when I went. We hated to leave, and plan to return. I give this hotel the highest marks.
