Truckee Hotels with Restaurant

Spent a glorious 3 nights in this luxury hotel. Very clean. Staff go out of their way to accommodate you. A great hotel for families. Johan who heads the kids activities Dept was exceptional. He ensured my son had a great time with pizza making/movie night (with a personalized script on the hot chocolate whipped cream) and gave him a stuffed lion which my son has named Johan of course. Food was great. Snow fun. Looking forward to coming back!

Located in Truckee, Gravity Haus Truckee-Tahoe is in the mountains, within a 10-minute drive of Donner Lake and Old Greenwood Golf Course. This upscale hotel is 8.1 mi (13 km) from Northstar California Resort and 8.5 mi (13.6 km) from West End Beach.Take advantage of recreational opportunities offered, including a sauna, a fitness center, and bicycles to rent. The room as very clean, the internet and the TV worked well. It is next to a Tesla Charging station and less than a half a mile from a new Raleys market. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave. Both were very clean and the refrigerator has a freezer compartment. This was very important to get cold packs ready for the next day's trip in the heat.

When you stay at Hampton Inn & Suites Tahoe-Truckee in Truckee, you'll be in a state park, within a 15-minute drive of Donner Lake and Northstar California Resort. This spa hotel is 13.8 mi (22.2 km) from Palisades Tahoe and 16 mi (25.8 km) from Alpine Meadows Ski Resort.Be sure to enjoy recreational amenities, including a spa tub, a fitness center, and a seasonal outdoor pool. This review is specific to the ”Northstar Mountain Condos”. These are privately owned units, which Northstar does not disclose anywhere on its website. (FYI - other resorts such as Palisades also rent out privately owned units, but disclose that on their website). You are assigned a unit on the day of arrival so you have no idea what you will get. This is intentional because if you saw actual pictures of the units beforehand, you probably would not book it. Imagine booking a rental on Airbnb or VRBO that did not have pictures! Given Northstar's premium branding and imaging they are trying to market, we trusted that the quality of the Mountain Condos would be worthy of the $1,400 nightly rate for a 3br unit. I expect that some units are better than others, but of course the one we were assigned was very disappointing. We expected that Northstar would ensure some level of consistency with these units, but apparently does not. The unit we stayed in looked like it had not been updated since it was built. The majority of the furniture was the original furniture the owner's brought in when this place was built 40 years ago. Electrical outlets were worn, decades old beds, inadequate water heater for a 3br unit, furniture that was literally falling apart, broken floor boards, crooked kitchen cabinets, faulty lights...just to name a few issues. If you are comfortable rolling the dice to ”see what you get”, good luck to you. I would highly advise not booking through Northstar for these units. If you like the location and are looking for condos/ homes, I would recommend searching on Airbnb and VRBO for rental units in this community. At the very least, you would be able to select a specific unit that you can vet beforehand, and likely save some money. There really is no benefit received by booking through Northstar. The resort is trying to benefit from the premium image generated by having the Ritz Carlton and Welk Resorts onsite, but these units in no way warrant a premium price. Northstar's marketing for these units is highly deceptive and needs to be corrected. Please avoid.

Convenient near the highway. The facilities are very clean and large. There are not many amenities in the room, but you can ask the front desk. Breakfast quality is not so high

Situated just off Donner Pass Road, and right next to Donner Memorial State Park, the Truckee Donner Lodge was a perfect base camp for our first visit to Truckee. The State Park, and beautiful Donner Lake, are walking distance from the Lodge, and Downtown Truckee is mere minutes' drive away. Every member of the hotel staff was friendly and cheerful. The room was clean and functional, and the bed was very comfortable - we slept well. Breakfast was good: eggs and sausage, cereal, toast, yogurt, juice and more. We used the coffee/espresso/cappucino machine at least twice every day. Special thanks to Brooke at the front desk, who made us feel very welcome. Great job! We look forward to visiting Truckee again and being guests at the Truckee Donner Lodge. Until next time!
