My partner and I booked a 2 night stay via Groupon. We stayed in the Halifax pod. We really enjoyed our stay, the pod was lovely, spacious, comfortable and clean. Great shower. Instant hot water. The pub was great, lovely staff and the food was delicious. We ate on both nights and also had breakfast both mornings which was inclusive. Our only criticism was that we had to wait for breakfast the second morning as there was no table set up for us or another couple, due to lack of communication, but this was rectified after a short time. Overall we would definitely recommend The Olde Red Lion.

We stayed in the twin rooms, not the Pod; our room was number 6, with twin beds, heating, a large flat-screen TV, tea and coffee facility, and a nice, clean shower/ toilet; the beds were very comfortable. I will mention the door was a very tight fit and difficult to unlock due to the keyway; we heard other people having the same problem; this is a minor detail, as our stay was most comfortable. Meals in the Inn were of a good standard. I had Scampi one night and Strogonof Chicken the other night, and my wife had Hunters Chicken and Chicken with Stilton sauce; all the meals were plentiful with a high standard. Breakfast was four types of cereal, orange juice, tea or coffee, full English was served to order. Housekeeping was done to order. A special thanks to Becky the breakfast waitress and roomaid, who went out of her way to recommend places to visit. Eden Camp and James Herriot`s museum were worth the visit.

Nice clean room and great pub food. We stayed here for 2 nights on a groupon deal. We stayed in room 3 which was small but clean. There were no toiletries but we did have tea/ coffee making facilities and a large TV. The bath towels were big enough. The pub itself was great as many locals the village use it food food as it was always busy. They had a special carvery on a Tuesday & Wednesday night for £7 which was nice and good value along with a full menu. They had 3 ales on tap which I liked. The staff to our experience were great very attentive and very pleasant. We are going back again in May for 3 nights so we are looking forward to this. We noted some other negative reviews k. Here but we found nothing bad on our visit.

Stayed in one of the glamping pods for 2 nights and it was a great base. It had everything we needed for a comfortable sleep and stay. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and it was fairly priced and tasty. On the second night (valentines) we were able to change our time and they accommodated us only wanting desserts due to a late lunch. The staff we encountered were lovely and helpful and it was a short drive into York.

We stayed for one night in room 6. Nice little room, clean and had everything we needed for one night stay. We had our tea in the pub and was very tasty and reasonably priced. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming especially Donna. Breakfast was amazing and plenty of choice, thank you to the lady who served us didn’t get your name but was very friendly and welcoming. The pub it’s self is a lovely old fashioned pub lovely printed carpets and brass hanging around. Thank you for a pleasant stay. X

Booked the biggest lodge as this was the only one with a hot tub . On the first night despite booking for 6 people we were only given two towels by the time our friends had arrived the pub was closed so we could not call in to the pub and collect more towels . Despite following the instructions to leave the towels in shower if we needed more no one had visited to replace them despite seeing housekeeping going into other lodges with clean towels .when we did ask for more towels we were questioned about how many of us there was .We were only given one toilet roll for the 2 nights we booked when we asked we were told to go to the shop to get more ! As this was not going to be provided despite this being part of a pub where I’m sure they could’ve given us an extra one . Our hot tub was turned off on the second day and we were told this was because we had turned it off the night before however we differently did not. No cleaning supplies offered one bin bag for the two nights we spent and no microwave . Staff were very blunt and rude It really ruined our experience of York . However the lodge was beautiful if you are looking to book I’d advise taking toilet roll and towels from home definitely not big enough for 6 people to sleep comfortably

The hotel was friendly , clean and food was excellent. Our room was in a chalet which again was clean and comfortable. Our dinner was excellent although where we were sitting was not very warm but it was snowing outside and with people coming in and out the cold air was getting in.
